As I was browing very old (2005-2006) benchmarks for games such as Oblivion, Tomb Raider Legend, F.E.A.R, I began to wonder about what it would take to run those cross-gen games of 2013. Back in 2005/2006 the 360 and the PS3 were absolute beasts that ran circles around any high-end PC, this may or may not be the case with the PS4/XB1, their architecture is far more efficient and that is going to count.

Anyway, AC4 runs on an updated version of the AnvilNext engine that powered Assassin's Creed III on all platforms, it supports global illumination (the DRTV was mentionned by Trottier) and other enhancements (volumetric fog), I guess contact hardening shadows will be supported as well.
It should as such be quite a bit more demanding that AC3 on PC.
However, given that it has to run on 8 years old hardware I suppose the minimum specs are not going to be any different from AC3...Unless the PC SKU does not scale that much if they choose to target DX11 exclusively.
I hope that it does not support DX9 and I can see that being the case.

Speculation time !
Minimum specs : For 720/medium settings.
Supported OS : 64 bits Windows Vista, W7/W8
Processor : 2.66 GHz Intel Core2 Duo E6700 or 3.00 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
GPU : 1GB DX11 card (Radeon 5770/Geforce GTS 450).
Ram : 2GB
HDD : 25GB

Recommended specs : for 1080p/max settings.
CPU : I5 2500K, AMD FX6350
GPU : 2GB DX11 card (GTX 680/Radeon 7970)
Ram : 8GB

Optimum specs : for resolutions above 1080p + MSAA
CPU : I7 4770K, AMD FX8350
GPU : Radeon 8970/GTX780
Ram : 8GB

With regard to the PC specific stuff, the AnvilNext supports MSAA in spite of being a deferred engine, and TXAA (only on Geforce 6XX series). I suppose a cheaper AA solution like FXAA will be supported as well.

I repeat, this is just me speculating, but given how good the game looks I would not expect anything less to max the game out.

I doubt it!
look back at the AC 3's requirements... ac4's will be a bit higher but not that much for i7 .... this is a joke

I agree with Nrthee, those system requirements posted in the first post are like a joke... This is not some NASA experimental project, it's a game...

By taking in mind ac3 real requirements (not these fakes posted on boxes and ubisoft support page) supposed minimum requirements for black flag should look like this:
Intel i7-5990x
Geforce gtx890 8GB
64GB of RAM
SSD disks in RAID configuration

With these 30fps will be maximum what you will be able to get :D After gpu drivers and ssd firmware updates you will be able to juice 40fps out of it :D

Some people are going to be really surprised when next-gen hits...

You guys can already expect those kinds of system requirements, it's hardly anything too irrationnal when you think it through.

Metro Last Light's optimal requirement is a freakin Titan GC...
