Yesterday I updated my U play because I was asked to. After the update I played the game without any trouble. Today I wanted to play Far Cry 3 but when I doubleclicked on the game, it did not start. I tried with the dvd inserted but it did not help. After some time I realized that it was caused by the new update from U play. I tried to start the U play game launcher but it would not start. I am out of ideas. I spend one hour trying to solve the problem. I hope that my problem is familiar so that you know what youre up against. Good luck finding the bug. I look forward to your solution. Sorry for the grammer. I am dutch.

Every time I try to open Uplay or a game that will automatically start up Uplay, the game won't start and in the task manager I see the Uplay game launcher start, the I see the windows error reporting process WerFault.exe, and Uplay game launcher disappears from my processes list. I can't play my ubisoft games, and this is extremely annoying. Yes I have reinstalled, that didn't help.

Hi Extrame134 - Have you tried the other tips above? (other than the re-install). The next step would be to contact Support or give them a quick call.

It's been some time since I last played any of my Ubisoft games so I didn't remembered my password. After reseting it and trying to login into Uplay it keep's saying the my login email/password are incorrect. How can I solve this? I can login in any website belonging to Ubisoft. This is driving me insane :\

Greetings fellow threaders. I seemed to have fixed this exact problem last night, after angrily working on it for four hours. I have windows 8, and for some reason Uplay would not connect to the internet. I tried deleting the hosts file, I tried opening various ports in my firewall and my router, and I tried to run Uplay without any background programs running. Sadly, none of this worked. But, when I started my computer in Safe mode with networking, Uplay could connect.

For me at least, it was not a problem with Uplay's servers, but it was the fault of my own programs running in the background. So, if anybody else is getting the error "Uplay cannot connect to the internet..." try this:

Open the ports TCP: 80, 443, 13000, 13005, 13200, 14000, 14008 in the windows firewall (Find it in control panel)
Then boot up your windows in safe mode with networking
Uplay should now be able to connect!
You only should have to boot up Uplay in safe mode for the first time (so it can update), and then you can run it in normal startup mode.

Before you get too angry at Ubisoft, please make sure the reason your game doesn't work is not a result of your own doings (i.e. installing Norton). I now happily play AC3 with no trouble.
Hope this helps!

I tried deleting the uplay folder in my program files and re-downloading Far Cry 3 from steam, it reinstalled uplay. Uplay then launched and updated again. After the update completed, the above error started coming up again. Running the program as an administrator does not resolve the issue.

I would like to be able to play the Ubisoft games that I have purchased, so I would appreciate a swift response to this issue.

This is such ********. I bought FC3 shortly after launch and have never been able to do multiplayer or CO-OP. Ever. I have created tickets, followed every piece of advice given on these forums, AND nothing has changed, besides being told it is my computer's fault. Note: NONE, absolutely NONE of other games purchased through Steam or Origin have issues with online play. Never. Uplay is an absolutely terrible service that offers nothing to enhance the experience of gaming, it is in fact quite the opposite. It deters me from purchasing future Ubisoft games.

"Uplay launcher has stopped working"

Please try;

1. First, you will need to uninstall the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Programs and Features' (Windows Vista, 7, and 8) icon in your computer's control panel.
It's possible that the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.
Then, you will need to uninstall the "Uplay" software from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Programs and Features' (Windows Vista, 7, and 8) icon in your computer's control panel.
It's possible that the "Uplay" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.

2. After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows). Please do not skip this step, it is very important. If this folder does not exist, please go to the next step.

3. reinstall Uplay Client.

So I've been trying to get back into some of my Assassin's Creed games and everytime I try to launch through steam, Uplay won't launch. It just does...well...nothing. So I launch Uplay directly, both as regular and administrator, still nothing. Uninstalled Uplay and reinstalled twice. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

Please attempt to perform a clean uninstall and reinstall of Uplay.

Here are the registry keys that you will need for Uplay;

Ubisoft Game Launcher (Win Vista/7 32bit)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{888F1505-C2B3-4FDE-835D-36353EBD4754}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\Uplay

Ubisoft Game Launcher (Win Vista/7 64bit)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Ub isoft Game Launcher
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{888F1505-C2B3-4FDE-835D-36353EBD4754}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Uplay

Chances are that there is something that is interfering with the Uplay client. Please be sure that you do not have any firewall or antivirus programs blocking or interrupting the launch of the client. Please submit a ticket to support with your dxdiag and msinfo if you continue to experience this issue or require further assistance. You may locate the links to Support in my signature below.

Go to the following folder: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc

Then delete the file marked "hosts". Alternatively, create a folder and cut and paste it in there.

Uplay should launch then. Apparently, something with the proxy settings of Uplay doesn't work too well with your hosts file, and Windows should recreate it accordingly.

Hope this helped.

Tried all these things and uplay still won't launch at all. it's not being blocked by antivirus, I use Microsoft security essentials and I've been using it for a while now, and have played games via Uplay with it without a problem. This is beginning to frustrate me a little.

For me when i click uplay, my mouse pointer shortly became "occupied" then NOTHING...
When looking at the process list i see UPLAY dissapear in a few second after double clicking ... no other message... it seems that Uplay prefer to suicide himself silently than running...
I discuss with support since near a month...

Hi,

I have the same issue.

But I guess it is because ubi.com is under maintenance, no?

I did nothing (program install, firewall change, etc.) from the last time that I run FC3, the only mess around was the security issue in ubi site, really a shame for Ubi.

I hope they fix it soon, then Uplay should work I believe.

You guys really should add the "check youre firewall" response. When you have the Proxy error and you cannot connect to the inet with uplay you should allow uplay in youre Firewall to get incomming and outgoing connections. Solves alot of ****

I really should not have to create a support ticket, Got an email stating the site got hacked, so I changed the password like I was told, I can login to all parts of the ubisoft, but not the uplay client.

I've fixed this on my own, For some reason Allow uplay to use a proxy was selected. even though I never seleceted it

Ok, I've been having problems with logging into Uplay for a couple of months now, problem is, that it'll take between 1 and 40 retries before Uplay will login, always telling me that there's something wrong with my Internet connection. The problem happens when syncing my game saves too.

I've just brought FC3 and tried to activate it, but told me that the code is already registered (it's brand new), I remember having the same issue with SH5 an kept retrying until it activated, so tried doing the same thing with FC3, but this time I got banned for 60mins for trying to activate FC3 to many times!!

Anyone got a solution or know when Uplay are gonna fix their servers!

TIA

Hi and welcome the forums, have you tried the suggestion in the first post?

If you have and you are still having an issue, please open a ticket with Technical Support http://support.ubi.com/

Same issue here. I think all the static*.cdn.ubi.com subsites are down. After quickly viewing the css of the support site, it seems that the css is hosted there, which explains the missing styles. Also, I get a lot connection errors in the uplay log saying that files like http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/uplay_launcher_2_0/test_internet.txt don't exist. I've quickly checked it via http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/static3.cdn.ubi.com , and that site says that static* is down.

I have teh same problem as the two above me. I got an error when I tried to log in saying it couldn't connect to the internet which was wierd since I was browsing the internet at the same time.
I read that I had to reinstall Uplay and try again but this caused another problem.
I still can't log in and I can't play offlien because I need to go online first, which I didn't do on the new isntall because it won't let me. My browser also won't load some of the Ubisoft websites propperly.
I only bought the game a few days back and first off I had problem running the game while my rig is perfect for the game. When I finally got the game running, I couldn't log in anymore after 1 or 2 sessions of play. It's not really satisfying. :/

"Cannot connect to the internet" error messageIf you receive this message and can otherwise connect correctly to the Internet with other programs, please try the following steps:

1) Make sure your Uplay PC client is up-to-date. You might also want to try desinstalling and reinstalling Uplay PC by downloading the latest version from Uplay.com

2) Follow the steps provided in the following Support article to check your firewall, open the needed network ports, check background applications or your "hosts" file: AC3 Launcher and multiplayer connection issues (http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17490)
I'd love to do #1... but the link redirects me to a site that doesn't work or exist...

The support link (https://support.ubi.com/en-gb/) brings me to a website without any make up or layout what so ever. I don't see any notification about some large scale maintenance going on at this time. A lot of services are not working.

I just downloaded settlers 7 from Steam (first time using Steam) and cant seem to get the game to work. Internet connection is unavailable, and like the poster above me said: the link for updating Uplay doesnt work.
I tried like 8 different tips from the internet: reinstalling the game, opening ports, starting in safe mode with internet connection, closing down all firewall settings, disabling virusscanners, reinstalling Ubisoft Launcher and reinstalling Uplay, none worked.
Posting on the support site is broken, cause the entire ubisoft site is bugged. Please at least leave an update notification about what is going on, this **** costed met 4-5 hours when in the end it isnt a problem I have on my PC, but a problem on your service...

Mirkfallon
07-13-2013, 04:03 PM
I had this exact problem and I found out why.
The ubisoft servers are unreachable from (I guess) many European countries. The European DNS servers simply don't have entries for the following servers:

static3.cdn.Ubi.com
static2.cdn.Ubi.com
static1.cdn.Ubi.com

Symptoms:
- Can't register account
- Cannot access Ubisoft websites properly (looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/7q6J0OX.jpg)
- Cannot login
- UPlay says no connection to the server could be made

I'm not sure how you managed to do that, but both the Google DNS servers as wel as my ISP's DNS servers have no idea where to find these three servers

C:\Users\Falco>nslookup static1.cdn.Ubi.com
Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address: 8.8.8.8

*** google-public-dns-a.google.com can't find static1.cdn.Ubi.com: Non-existent
domain

Here's how to make a workaround for this issue:
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and open hosts with a plaintext editor.
Add entries for the three Ubisoft static servers by adding this to the bottom of the file:

87.248.214.183 static3.cdn.Ubi.com
95.140.224.199 static2.cdn.Ubi.com
87.248.214.183 static1.cdn.Ubi.com
(IPAddresses from http://ipaddress.com/)

Edit: I found that there are DNS addresses for 17 of these static servers. You can add them all, but I got it to work by adding just the first three.

Working solution to my problem at least

Verified workaround by editing host file with stated IP adresses works for me.

Dear Ubisoft,

The fact that i have to edit my host file to use Uplay, because it cannot find it's own validation servers is downright stupid....

I also can't contact uplay tech support. So, nobody to help and it seems server problems. I play HOMM VI via STEAM.

When I wanted to use the solution from Mirkfallon to change the host file, I wasn't able to do so. When I saved the file with notepad it was saved as a txt file, while it was previous a just a file.

The host file should not have any extension like .txt or .exe...
If you canīt save over the original file, make a copy of it, and open notepad in admin mode and ope the file there. Then it allows you to save the changes you make

After editing my host file, wich is absolutely ridiculous btw, i can start anno 2070 but after entering the game and activating my addon the game tells me to reboot to let the game update itself. This sends me right back at the autopatcher that "could not connect to updateserver" this proces just keeps repeating if i restart anno. So even after the host file workaround i'm still grounded. This is outragous, please sell your franchises and leave the gaming industry.

So today i was installing Assassins Creed 2, everything went fine, however when i tried too launch it the Ubisoft autopatch popped up and i got this message:

Trying to get update information to C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\ubiFC1F.tmp.
Found update (Patch, all, all).
Trying to download update file from http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/assassins_creed_2/assassins_creed_2_1.01_eu.exe. Destination: C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\ubiFD68.tmp.exe .
Fatal download error (Couldn't resolve host 'static3.cdn.ubi.com').
Deleting downloaded data.

Anyone knows how i can solve this? I know there's nothing wrong with internet connection.
This game always worked fine on my pc :(.
I looked up some stuff already here about that Hostfile in windows/system32/drivers/etc, but the file isnt called hosts but Lmhosts so better too leave it alone i guess?
Is there something i do wrong or is there something wrong with Uplay D:.

I cannot log in on Uplay,

It says that a server is offline when i wanted to create an account.
I couldnt create an account on my computer because the whole Uplay website is bugged, so i made an account over the internet on my smartphone.
Now that i have an account and want to log in on Uplay it says that something is wrong with the internet connection and i have to start in offline, however i cannot go in offline because then i get the message that i have to log in on this computer on uplay at least 1 time before i can start the offline modus.

This is going on for 2 days now, im really frustrated, i bought a game during my holiday now and i cant play it..
I can't find any updates on this issue on any websites so i don't know the status of this issue and if more people are experiencing this.

If it takes on any longer i will take steps to get my money back. Because this s*cks.

PS: I did everything that you said in the above, nothing worked.
And i do have internet connection otherwise i would not be able to type this here. :)

Instead of modifying your hosts file you can use the OpenDNS servers in your network configuration:

This is a Uplay issue and not a pc / network issue.
By trying to log a case with Ubi support its quite clear that something is not working correctly. The whole layout of support page is "wrong".
Here is a list of phone numbers.
On monday ( as there apparently is no support in the weekends, probably because people tend to play more during the week??) I'm calling to complain.
http://www.ubi.com/US/Support/InternationalSupport.aspx

There is no way I should need to edit the host file on my pc in order to play a game.

The solution to this problem posted on page 5 of this thread has indeed resolved the login issue for me. It is however strange we're supposed to add something manually to a file in order to connect to Uplay. Never had this problem before (there were no problems before Saturday).
Unfortunately for me, after playing the game for a few minutes my Uplay crashes on the background, forcing me to close Heroes 6. I hope it'll be fixed soon.

Uplay - why on earth are you asking people to edit the hosts file on their PC?

This is not something which should be done just on a wim.
If EVERY other gaming platform inside my home works (PS3, xbox, STEAM! etc) all work 100% find without me having to edit host files, choose different DNS servers and with no need to start opening ports on my firewall..then there is clearly something wrong with uplay and ubisoft as a whole.

Lmhosts is not the same as hosts. You should find it here: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
It's a plain text file. As mentioned on Page 5, there are 17 static servers. It turns out different games use different servers. Anno 2070 tends to use static11 for its updates for example.
I have the following content in the hosts file:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
95.140.224.199 static2.cdn.Ubi.com static4.cdn.Ubi.com static6.cdn.Ubi.com static8.cdn.Ubi.com static10.cdn.Ubi.com static12.cdn.Ubi.com static14.cdn.Ubi.com static16.cdn.Ubi.com
87.248.214.183 static1.cdn.Ubi.com static3.cdn.Ubi.com static5.cdn.Ubi.com static7.cdn.Ubi.com static9.cdn.Ubi.com static11.cdn.Ubi.com static13.cdn.Ubi.com static15.cdn.Ubi.com static17.cdn.Ubi.com

Just run Notepad as Administrator and open this file: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Be sure to add the two lines with all static servers and save it.
Note that the above server IP's seem to be the european ones: http://www.opendns.com/support/cache/?d=static3.cdn.ubi.com
It should work in all countries though.

Well seems i'm not the only one with a Uplay problem. I tried to play Anno 2017 and got the message on login with uplay that there was no internet connecton. Wich is funny since at the same time i ad steam running online, SO itried AC 3 and Farcry # both gave the same issue saying there was no internet connection. I tried running Origin andthe NFS Most wanted with out a hitch even the online function worked. So the conclusion is Uplay is bogged, cause all the other games are running just fine. Yo Black Widow and Mush! I have to give u guys credit for the work u are doing, can see that you guys are trying the best you can, based on the limited info u get from above (or sideways) in your company!!!! I don't get how u manage to stick with your jobs when 80% of the posts in this forum is negative feedback. You DESERVE better jobs with better pay, and better job environments! Just write it on your CVs and I am sure someone will appreciate your experience and give u a cooler job where you don't need to take sh@& all the time. To the problem at hand, I can accept them, but only if UBISOFT would come out and apologize and state that you have a problem! Like normal with u guys, it's just a biiiiiiiiig silence. Then some trolling that yeah yeah, we get that some (meaning "few") poeple having a problem with a game or uplay or DRM or what the f.... not! When is it going to stop??? I cannot talk for your PS2/3 and Xbox games, but on the PC side of things it is bloody forked! How long is it going to take for u to understand that change is needed before you get all of your customers against you? Does anyone in the leadership team ever look in your forums? BTW: I love your games! You have some really good games and game developers in-house, it is just sad that you destroy your own position by making all the problems... My prediction is that you could be bigger than EA in the PC market if you just wanted too, you have by far better game-ideas and the right people to develop them, but not if you continue the stupid console porting like u did in Ghost Recon: Future soldier. After 8 patches the game still works like crap and because of that it sells for 5 bucks in my country, while COD Black ops (1) sells for 22 ?!?!? Your own fault! Even GRAW2 works better than GRFS, and that is a 7 year old game! Lastly, can u just make a sticky post admitting you have huge issues with your servers (cannot even DL uplay) and apologize to us, your customers? I know that I would appreciate it a bit... Thx, Opius11

Ok, so i copied one of the extensionless files that was in the etc folder since i can't change the extension that easily in W7.
I copied the file 'protocol' and renamed it Hosts.

Working solution to my problem at least

Thanks to FPtjeAtheos and Mirkfallon -- but I am still unable to get this to work. I have tested this Uplay launcher on various desktops now, using various configurations. I have managed to get it working once, on a laptop, outside of the company firewalls, with no changes to the DNS entries, but cannot get it to work on a desktop, virtual machine, with either XP or Windows 7. I've allowed full access to Uplay on my home PC Windows 7 firewall, but still cannot connect ("no Internet connection").

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. So much for purchasing games that use Uplay. I spent hours last night trying to resolve this in the hope I couls play Far Cry 3.

Hi,

I bought Far Cry 3 and got around to try it, now, uPlay won't let me and after spending hours looking on the forums and other sources on the web, it seems this is a feature of the program...

I uninstalled it, cleaned up the files left and rebooted, it won't help. I did the same with the file I got with far cry 3 as well...

It just vaniches when I click the icon (wether it's the game .exe, the launcher itself or the steam shortcut).

so the best solution would be to do without uplay (I know it gives support guys most of their work, but I also know they must hate it just as much as the suckers who bought games that come with it).

I am dutch.

This worked perfectly for me. thank you.

I recently purchased ANNO 2070 off Steam. It worked exactly once, several days ago. Since, Uplay has crashed on start on every attempt to start the game.

I began with a bit of Google-Fu that suggested I uninstall the launcher, manually delete the leftover folder and reinstall it. I did this twice, no luck. I found another guide that directed me to clear it out of the registry too. Tried that, no luck. I've tried compatibility modes, running as administrator, anything I could think of, no luck.

I tried posting the question to the official customer support page at support.ubi.com, every attempt to do so failed. When I clicked "continue" on the Ask a Question page it would flicker, depopulate all the fields and do nothing, the questions do not appear on the question history.

I am now seething in rage at how terrible this software is. Single sign on is all well and good, but this is insane.

Sorry to hear that you are having this problem. Please clear all browser cookies and cache to see if you are able to finish a ticket.
If you have not tried doing so, uninstall and reinstall the game once more. Please clear the registry keys for a clean install of the game. Also, please verify the integrity of the game cache through steam. Please try following these steps to see if they help.

1) First, you will need to uninstall the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Programs and Features' (Windows Vista, 7, and 8) icon in your computer's control panel.

2) After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows)
or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows).
Please do not skip this step, it is very important. If this folder does not exist, please go to the next step.

3) I also suggest you check for these registry keys.
From Windows, click Start -> Run (XP), Start Search (Vista), or Search Programs and Files (Win 7). (Alternately, press the Windows key and the "R" key at the same time.)
In the Open box, type "regedit" (without the quotes) and click OK.
Search the folder destinations for these registry keys. If found, please delete them.

Registry keys for Uplay and Ubisoft Game Launcher:

Win Vista/7 32bit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{888F1505-C2B3-4FDE-835D-36353EBD4754}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\Uplay

Win Vista/7 64bit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Ub isoft Game Launcher
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{888F1505-C2B3-4FDE-835D-36353EBD4754}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Uplay

4) Once you have fully uninstalled Uplay/Game Launcher, you can reinstall the Uplay PC Client software from: http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/launcher_installer/UplayInstaller.exe or http://uplay.ubi.com
*Varies on location. If neither link works, please visit your region's Uplay site here; uplay.ubi.com

After updating new publicity from uplay (as almost everyday), uplay would not launch with message that the internet connection did not work.
After reading chronicles here, I shut down the firewall and next load uplay correctly.
I shut down uplay and activated the firewall again.
Uplay loads correctly now.

I'm having nothing but problems with uplay during my first day using it. I finally get back home to install blacklist and I get "uplay launcher has stopped working" whenever I try to open the uplay program to install. I've completely uninstalled everything related to uplay and installed multiple times, still getting the same problem. Is there any way I can trade my uplay code for a steam code and be done with this joke of a store?

Update: I installed an older version which worked fine. Sure enough after Uplay finished updating, it crashed. I'm starting to think the issue isn't on my end.

I suspect you and I are having the same problem. I can't even run the new version of Uplay by itself, it gives a buffer overflow(BEX) error. Which would indicate that DEP does not like something the program is doing. Unfortunately Windows won't allow me to turn off DEP for uplay. After searching for several hours online I haven't found a solution to the problem and a ticket I put in about 10 hours ago with ubi has not yet gotten a response.

I'm having the same problem (BEX) with uplay. Also I had a similar issue with their ticket system that seemed to stem from me trying to attach my dxdiag. After clicking a whole bunch of times on one try it made 3 identical tickets with the info, but not the attachment. I've been able to close the duplicate tickets and add a note to the remaining one, but again attaching does not work.

Ah threads merged and getting some attention. Nice.

I had seen that tidbit about uninstall/delete/make sure registry keys are gone then reinstall the latest version. I've done all that and still getting the BEX error. If it would help to post my DxDiag here let me know. I haven't had any luck attaching it to my ticket(00681391). Here's the basics of what I'm running at least:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Intel Core i5-2500k @ 4.2 GHz
8GB Kingston PC1600 DDR3
XFX Radeon HD6990 (Catalyst 13.8)

I have Windows Firewall disabled, almost all background software is disabled, avast is disabled, opened the ports, cleared the host data, cleared the DNS cache, run everything as an administrator. But I cannot connect to the Uplay services in the game. I can open Uplay and connect to my account. I can even start all my games from Uplay, but whenever I try to play the Multiplayer, it states that the service of the specific game is not available. I am not able to play the Multiplayer of any game I have because of that.

Update: I'm now actually in-game. Here's what I did: Deleted the launcher, there weren't any leftover registry keys, deleted all Ubisoft related material on all my drives, deleted Anno from Steam, then reinstalled it through steam.

After it downloaded everything, the first of 3 steps is instaling the launcher, last step is trying to set graphics settings, didn't run that.

Now starting the game got me (after again 3 updates of the launcher, uplay, the launcher again, or whatever order it went to) the uplay launcher with a login prompt.

Filled in my details, checked remember me, and this time it could connect, only I didn't have any games in my profile. So closed UPlay again, started the game from Steam again and it goes through all the UPlay stuff but never prompts me for anything anymore, runs the game, and UPlay now apparently sees at least Anno as my game.

I'm starting to wonder if this might have something to do with UPlay trying to authenticate originally with old credentials or something, since we all had to change our passwords a while ago.

----------------------- OLD STUFF

Exactly the same problem with me. I wanted to play Anno 2070, but that seems to have gone out of the window.

I've uninstalled everything and am currently reinstalling Anno 2070 from Steam, but I have very little hope that will work, since it didn't before..

Starting it from Steam, UPlay updates something like 3 times, then it tells me it can't connect (to wherever?) and if I want to go offline or try again, and it dies.

On Try Again, it crashes, on Go Offline, it crashes, I've tried all possible combinations with settings, disabling proxy (since I know that I've had problems before with programs thinking I have a proxy somehow), nothing works.

From my network logs I can see the Uplay.exe process making a connection to 87.248.222.247 port 80, which resolves to https-87-248-222-247.par.llnw.net.

I've never been a fan of UPlay, but this is getting ridiculous.

Running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, here's the crash report:

Yea I get BEX errors after around 2 days of my computer being on, If i restart the error stops. 2 days later boom error starts popping up against when uplay launches. Doing the uninstall and deleteing reg keys thing doesn't solve it. Would hope uplay can get fixed as there are some games coming up soon i want to buy but if this is gonna be a problem I probably won't buy them.

Same here as well, uplay stops launching after some time of system uptime. No "Program has stopped working" box pops up, but I can see it from Windows Reliability Monitor (is uplay suppressing error messages from us?). Also from Task Manager Proceses I see uplay.exe or UbisoftGameLauncher.exe appear briefly, followed by WerFault.exe - which is windows error reporting.

so I get this messsage since today everytime I try to start AC3, which I just purchased via Steam.
I played AC1 + 2 as well as BH and Revelations without any problems so far (purchased via Steam as well). But those dont work anymore either.

I tried to reinstall the GameLauncher as well as Uplay. Nothing worked so far. Uplay always updates itself and then this message appears. I suppose it might be because of this new update, however I already send a ticket to ubisoft support. Just wanted to know if I am the only one with this problem.

I'm glad for every helpful comments u can make.

PS. I tried to run as administrator as well and tried to start it not by clicking on a game. Didn't work either.

Okay a quick headsup.
The problem solved itself on its own. Uplay just updated again and since that update it works just fine.

I just bought Far cry 3 and Assassin's creed 3 installed it and UPlay showed that there is no connection I checked everything and everything is working, but Uplay still won't work. I reinstalled Uplay and now it do not start at all, task manager shows that it is working bus no window shows up... I tried everything that I could find on the internet and in forums nothing works... What to do? and I already asked in Questions tab

I am about to give up on the whole Uplay software now.

Bought a new graphic card and got the Splinter Cell game for free, however I am not able to log in to my Uplay account from the Uplay client. When entering my email adr and password I only get the msg box telling me "login failed - you do not have connections to the servers" etc. I have checked my local hosts file and there is nothing there at all except the default MS values. Have turned off my Windows firewall and even added the port forwarding on my Apple Airport Extreme router -> nothing works. Have reinstalled the Uplay client 3 times.

Everything else on my PC is working fine. I can access Orgin and Steam without any problems whatsoever.

Have tried to log in for the web page and that works fine however I am not able to download the game from there.

[QUOTE=Korchaa;8524892]Dear community,

As long as you've already logged in successfully once, the client is designed to switch automatically to offline mode if you don't have an active Internet connection or cannot connect to the game servers.

I recently bought Splintercell Blacklist, but for some reason the Uplay client wont let me login for the first time anyway. it says "There seems to be a problem with your internet connection." but there is not obviously because how could i have posted my comment here. Anyway, i would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction and help me get this fixed because it is very annoying paying for a full priced game, but cannot play it because a silly client wont let me confirm my purchase. thanks a bunch :P

i bought far cry 3 off origin and after a lengthy download, more lengthy updates, and a refreshingly short update of uplay, i tried to play the game but uplay crashed with "UPLAY has stopped working" i tried uninstalling the launcher and reinstalling it but same result. I googled the problem and tried running as administrator, same problem. i uninstalled the game and the launcher, reinstalled everything and tried running as administrator, still won't work. I tried setting the ubisoft folders so that all users and not just admins have full rights. I see that this is not an isolated problem and is quite common but no one seems to have a solution. I am hoping that some one can point me in the right direction as i would like to play the game i just spent $40 on.

my machines specs

Nvidia GeForce 660 Ti

The game I bought (Might and Magic Heroes IV) suddenly won't start, in stead I get these BS messages:

"A Ubisoft service is unavailable at the moment. Please try Again later."

"There is a problem connecting to a Uplay Service. We'll restore the connection assoon as we can."

Thats just not acceptable - I payed for the game, and I want to be able to play it whenever I want to, and not be stopped by Uplay not working.

I'm not even trying to play onling FFS.

Fix it so it never happens again, or return my money so I can purchace my games from a reliable supplier.

Hello.

I was having the same problems as the first poster on this thread. I play Anno 2070 through Steam.
I uninstalled the game and did a clean reinstall. Uplay still crashed.
I followed the instructions by Volfbane. I uninstalled Uplay. Uninstall Ubisoft folder from Program Files.
Then uninstalled the linies from the regedit.
Then reinstalled Uplay from his link. I did a cold reboot between all procedures.
I was able to run Anno from Steam; it autopatched to Uplay, I signed in and hit remember me. And the game started up. I said no to the graphics.
I played for a few minutes and exited the game.

I placed in some old saved games in the Saved Games file and restarted. Everything seems to be running right now on third reboot. I will post more if this changes.
Hope this helps someone. If it does, please reply so others can see. I searched for months to get to this page, to get something to work.
Thank you all for your time.

So.. I bought FarCry3 yesterday, spent nearly 12 hours to install it.. Now I can't even log in into the Uplay launcher to registrate it. How come? I've looked around on the forums, but nothing of what I've tried has worked. I'm a first-time user as well, so I'm not able to go offline.

1. "A Ubisoft Server is Unavailable. Please try again later" - Appears when I'm trying to create a new account.

2.
http://i40.tinypic.com/2qatuaa.jpg
This happens when I try to log in, after registering an account via the Ubisoft webpage (since the launcher obviously didn't work). And my internet works fine! :/

Hello!

Weird issue I'm having connecting to Uplay online.

I have had Uplay linked to my Xbox account forever - since Creed 2 - I can access it from within Blacklist just fine. The problem is I don't know what my credentials are (login, username, password) for the Uplay site outside of my Xbox. My Xbox credentials don't work - tried that already. There is no way to reset them without knowing them, nor is there a way to post on tech support for Uplay without having Uplay access. What a huge pain in the ***.

All I wanted to do was hook up the Spider Bot app to Uplay so I could get some extra goodies in Blacklist.

How do I get in to Uplay (when I'm not on my console) if my email doesn't seem to exist and I don't know the password?

Hi there, thought I'd add my two cents to this thread.
I recently had the issue of not being able to log into UPLAY.
Basically I would enter my log-in details, hit 'enter' and wait a bit. Then a message would appear saying 'Thank you for playing Far Cry 3' and that was that.
I went through hell and back trying to fix this issue. Doing what everyone else had. In the end I re-installed my OS and slowly introduced programs and the game, testing along the way. But in the end, the problem still persisted.
I solved MY issue by doing one thing..... removing the USB cable that was powering my wireless headset. And that was all.
I have not had the issue ever since. I spent one month trying to fix this damned issue. And all it was was my bloody USB cord.

Hope this helps others.

Hi All,

This could be a number of things, so please connect with Support if your problem persists. In the meantime, feel free to have a look through the following information. As each game requires certain ports to be open.

For example:

For Assassins Creed 3 (PC) Connection Issues:
https://support.ubi.com/en-US/FAQ.aspx?platformid=9&brandid=22&productid=2717&faqid=kA030000000eTKbCAM

1. Start by updating any anti-virus or personal firewall software that may be installed to your computer system. This includes your windows firewall as well as updating the firmware for your home router. If updating these programs does not resolve the issue, you may need to temporarily shut-down the associated program or bypass the router and establish a direct connection to your modem.

2. If it is not possible to shut-down your firewall, you will need to configure your router or firewall to allow the following network ports for the best possible connection:

Single Player
TCP: 80, 443
UDP: 3074

Multiplayer
TCP: 80, 443
UDP: 3074

Uplay Launcher
TCP: 80, 443, 13000, 14000, 14008

And for Xbox Assassins Creed 3 Connection Issues: (Please see the Support Site for other games)
https://support.ubi.com/en-US/FAQ.aspx?platformid=35&brandid=22&productid=2717&faqid=kA030000000eTH8CAM

Strict NAT (Red)
- Strict NAT may not be able to join or communicate in certain game sessions. Average matchmaking wait times will be affected.

If your NAT type is moderate or strict, please try the steps below:

1. Restart your network hardware. Turn off your Xbox 360, Modem and Router and wait about 15 - 30 seconds
2. Fully power up your modem
3. Fully power up your router
4. Turn on your Xbox 360 and test the Xbox Live connection again.

- At this point if you still have trouble, then you may have a firewall interfering with your connection. Please configure the following network ports and enable UPnP through your router.

Xbox Live
TCP: 53, 80, 3074
UDP: 53, 88, 3074

Game Ports for Assassin's Creed III
TCP: 80, 443
UDP: 3074

- Finally, if this does not solve your problem try placing your Xbox 360 in the DMZ of the router or establishing a direct connection to your modem and retry.

Totally irritated. I've played through about 10 minutes of Far Cry, I've played through about as much of Blood Dragon, and other Ubisoft games. I just bought two more and I totally regret it. I can't launch a single Ubisoft game because of this stupid Uplay launcher that just doesn't work!!! It's not that it crashes, it just never starts! I've uninstalled and re-installed a hundred times, I've deleted everything I could and...nada! I think I've totally wasted a ton of money buying games from Ubisoft. How irresponsible of them to build a platform that won't work!!! I bought the games from Steam. Any help here would be welcome as I would love to be able to enjoy my purchases!!!

Hello everyone, first off i would like to say sorry for my spelling and grammer.

i am a bit fed up with Uplay. all i want to do is launch a game but every time i try it comes up with Uplay has crashed.
i have re installed it a number of times to no avail.

it was working all right then i messed up again, stopped me from playing Far Cry 3 for ages because i simply couldn't get into the game.
now im trying to play AC3 but i keep getting ~edited~ by this "Uplay has stopped working" ********.

this has been happening for a long time it isn't a recent bug at least for me.

i redownloaded the most recent uplay no more then 3 days ago yet it still bugs out

Does anyone have a fix?

I don't see why Ubisoft just didn't use Steam.

Title: "Problem starting the game."

"There was a problem starting your game. Make sure you have no other games running that use the Ubisoft Game Launcher. If the problem persists, try reinstalling the game."

This window pops up after pressing "PLAY" in either the Steam Library or the Ubisoft Game Launcher. The only game I am currently trying to load is Far Cry 3. Far Cry 3 had loaded successfully multiple times yesterday, and after booting up my computer this morning it wouldn't load whatsoever.

I know this isn't a problem with the game itself since it ran without issue previously, and that my operating system and my computer specs are fine for the same reason.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Ubisoft Game Launcher and made sure that it fully updated without any other programs or even Windows Media Player in the background. No noticeable change.

I have opened Windows Task Manager multiple times, and have thoroughly searched the full contents the task tab each time. Each time I would check to make sure that all Steam, Ubisoft, and Far Cry related tasks were absent. No noticeable change.

I will currently try reinstalling Far Cry 3 to see if this will fix the problem, but I doubt it will.

Are there any other possible solutions?

Edit: Problem resolved by disabling the "Run as administrator" check box under Properties>Compatibility.

Hi everyone,

Everytime I try to launch a game, Uplay crashes. I can't even get into Uplay. It just says: Uplay Launcher has stopped working.
I tried every possible reinstall, I deleted every leftover file manually and even the registry keys. I rebooted my pc between every step. It makes no difference. Far Cry 3 and all the AC games have worked perfectly on this pc before. So I have no idea what changed. I guess it has to do with the update of Uplay.
I get no error information. I searched all of the internet, but I cannot get Uplay to start.

Please help me!

To anybody still having trouble (if there are still any of you), make sure that the Autopatch is allowed to run and that the version of the game that you're playing is 1.5.0 (lower right corner of the game screen). I had to patch four times before I was able to connect to the Conflux, but once I got to version 1.5.0 - no more problems.

Good luck!!

Whenever I load Assassin's Creed 3 off of steam and load up Uplay, it crashes every time as soon as I try to log-in. I also noticed that if I log-in incorrectly it still crashes processing it. I have tried reinstalling both Uplay and ac3 but no luck. I tried going into Uplays options but again no luck. I also submitted a ticket a few days ago and have received no contact. This has been happening for over a week and still no fix? I hope this gets fixed soon. If there already is a fix can someone please inform me of the fix?

I hope my info will be helpful towards a fix if there hasn't been one already.

Hello,
since the update to 4.0 uplay no score is saved on my computer. In other words. If I'm offline, always start a new game. I am forced to go online when I want to play. How can I restore the original state? I have no interest in any online or multiplayer stats and other stuff! I will just play my purchased games on my computer!

1. An accurate title of the issue you're experiencing.

Complete frustration at how terrible Uplay is, how it's forced onto customers who purchase their games from Ubisoft and then it won't even run

2. Description

Run AC3 through Steam? Uplay won't start. Run Uplay itself? Won't start. Put both Steam and Uplay in the same folders? Won't start. Run as administrator, reinstall Uplay etc etc. won't start. It's an absolute joke. I have been able to run the game about three times since purchasing it because of constant problems such as the key not being accepted and now the pointless, ****ty uplay won't run.

2. Step to reproduce the issue
Please, provide us a step by step list of what you have already done. Our testers need it to reproduce the bug.

Reinstalled, moved steam and uplay into the same files etc. etc.

3. Frequence

Constant

4. Note

Windows 8 (64 bit)

Go to the following folder: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc

Then delete the file marked "hosts". Alternatively, create a folder and cut and paste it in there.

Uplay should launch then. Apparently, something with the proxy settings of Uplay doesn't work too well with your hosts file, and Windows should recreate it accordingly.

Hope this helped.

I have exactly the same problem as Capricornuss. It is my first time to use Uplay and I can not even register my game, so I am not able to play it at all.
I am from France. Are there any known problems with connection to Ubisoft service or this is only my issue?

I've already contacted with technical support. Now I am waiting for their second respond because nothing helped. Maybe someone know what I can do instead of reinstalling Uplay (with manually removing remain folders), removing host file, switching of firewall? I've tried it all many times.

Or maybe is there any other way to register my game and... just play it?

flyguybc

This launcher is horrible....I've reinstalled every different way, deleted the folders, tried the host thing, was up for 2 hours last night trying to fix this, still no response to the ticket I've opened.

It's a basic game launcher. Every time I install a UBI game I have to go through some issue with the launcher (not the same each time). Seriously get it right. Steam and Origin have no problems at all. Otherwise at least respond to issues in 24 hours. I've paid for something that I'm not being able to use. I shouldn't have to uninstall, and reinstall, and change 6 files on my computer to get a basic game launcher to work. Either get it right or stop requiring internet connections to play a single player game.

I'm seeing a few threads about this, but uplay is not launching therefore I can't play any games.

Misc, Assassins Creed 3, Heroes of Might and Magic VI are the main games. Using windows 8.1

Launcher launches and immediately closes. Yes, I've uninstalled and reinstalled uplay. That did not work. I used the link in a previous thread to some host fix, but that is not compatible with my current operating system, therefore an irrelevant link.

It's bad enough that HOMM VI bugs out all the time and freezes and auto closes, but now I can't even load the game because uplay doesn't work. This is absolutely atrocious considering this has been going on for weeks with no simple fix or patch update to take care of the issue. I'm astounded by this and seriously thinking of never buying another product from ubisoft ever again.

Submitting a ticket with tech support is useless. It has to be a bot just posting stuff out. It's given me atleast 5 different ways to fix the game which some were stupid and none at all helped. It seems like everyone is having this problem and you always have the same answer: tell tech support... c'mon now. Just make an update for the game so we can bypass the Uplay launcher, it's useless. I am getting really impatient. It's been atleast 3 weeks and I want to my play my damned game. You have my money.. what else do you need?

Hello,

I am trying to access Uplay to register and download my new copy of Splinter Cell Blacklist however I appear to be unable to connect to any Uplay service (either website or client).

When I try to load http://uplay.ubi.com/ in browser I get a generic "Unable to connect: Browser can't establish a connection to the server at uplay.ubi.com". I have used 8 different browsers at the last count across 4 different devices to no avail (Chrome, Firefox, IE9 on a Windows 7 64-bit PC / Chromium and Firefox on a Linux Mint 13 32-bit Netbook / Chrome and Stock browsers on a Android 4.2.2 Galaxy S2 and the PS3 browser). My devices are all connected to the internet using a BT Infinity Hub which I have port forwarded for Uplay (TCP 13000, 13005 and 13020) after having restarted and reset to factory defaults. All other online services that I use work with no issues. Uplay's client has worked in the past on this machine but this is my 1st attempt in several months.

I have also tried loading the Uplay client through my copy of Assassin's Creed 3 on Steam which also cannot log in with the error message: "There seems to be a problem with your internet connection. Please check your settings or switch to offline mode". I have checked settings and Allow Uplay to use a proxy connection is checked with proxy set to automatic.

This issue is rendering my entire collection of Ubisoft games unplayable which is unacceptable.

I am utterly stumped at how to resolve this issue and any resolution would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Killieman

You already have the screenshot, we all use the PC. I don't need to do more troubleshooting as lots of us are having the issue, so it's not a problem on my end. It's a massive topic for connection issues, so saying to contact Tech Support is a bit pointless as it seems to be a UBI issue, not a user problem.

Also, http://www.ubi.com/US/Support/InternationalSupport.aspx is taking forever to load. I bet it won't even load in the end.

I'm playing MMH6 :Complete Edition which I bought via Steam on my PC. Am in UK and my favourite colour is cyan.
So I click my shortcut on the desktop which was created on installation by default, and the white UPlay launcher pops up.....

PC UK Steam M&MIV Complete Edition

Ok I reinstalled Uplay as per the tech page to the letter.
Uplay works! My game that I bought still does not work though.

So I click on the shortcut on my desktop for M&MHIV:

Uplay launches
<updating Uplay>
<logging in>
On the Uplay screen now
YOUR GAMES WILL APPEAR HERE (none appear)
On the WIN tab of Uplay - MY GAMES (all the details of M&MHIV and my progress)
and the little message on the top right of Uplay in a yellow box ' there is a problem connecting to a Uplay service. We'll restore the connection as soon as we can.'

update: managed to get to the product activation page on uplay on the 'GAMES' tab:

'We're unable to register this game to your Uplay account right now as the Ubisoft server is unavailable. Please try again later.'

@Aergan wow someone else from staffs!

My copy of Rocksmith 2014 arrived today and I can't use it at all because Uplay is down. If I'd have known it would require shoddy 3rd party software I wouldn't have bought it. I Googled problems with Uplay and was blown away by how many people report them and for how long; it's a wonder Ubisoft has any customers left. You say this is to deter piracy? Because it's kind of making me want to go and pirate a game I've already bought, since the pirates will be playing the game offline right now, for free, and laughing at mugs like me who forked out Ģ40 just to end up whinging on some forum.

Most importantly - ****Please contact Support with the links supplied below if you are having trouble connecting****

Secondly, if you are hanging around (and haven't already done so) please leave the following information for the moderators to gather feedback.

1. Which country you reside in
2. Which platform you are using
3. If you are trying to connect from your usual location

Thanks everyone.

Any update for us please?

I am having issues with Uplay also. I just purchased Rocksmith 2014 and Uplay is unable to connect to the servers, It states that there are issues with my internet connection. I tried to log a tick but received a message stating technical difficulties with the page :-(. I am not going to type it all out again. I also can't access the webpage for Uplay which makes me think there may be some sort of external issue. I am also in the UK using Steam. Seen the same sort of progression as mentioned above - Updating, then logging in then I receive the error.

1. Which country you reside in - Scotland
2. Which platform you are using - PC
3. If you are trying to connect from your usual location - Well I have moved house, but same country and same PC as previous uses of Uplay.

Most annoyingly I can play the original Rocksmith which doesn't seem to require this Uplay nonsense.

Any help or update would be much appreciated.

I'm having exactly the same problem with Rocksmith 2014, unable to connect to Uplay servers from my PC. Was initially working fine for the few days I've owned Rocksmith, then yesterday (the 4th Nov), it failed to login and the same problems are still happening this morning.

Eventually yesterday I was given the option to go into offline mode, but usually it prompts me for my activation key and doesn't give me the option. Very frustrating!

Country: UK (England)
Platform: PC
Usual location: Yes

Hello everyone, I am going to add my name to the list of being unable to access Uplay.

The problem began last night (5th November) around 9pm UK time. Upon launching Uplay PC the program takes in excess of 5 minutes to load up, the screens "updating Uplay" and "logging in" takes unusually longer than normal, and when I do finally manage to get logged in, there is no social feed, no friends list feed, and more importantly no games listed even though I have game titles listed in my start menu.

Like other people I have uninstalled and reinstalled Uplay and things have not improved.

Also I am unable to access any Ubisoft websites apart from the forums, even contacting Ubisoft support is a no go for me.

Here is my location and platform information

Country - UK

Platform - PC

Could you please give us an update on things as this seems to be a regional thing for those of us living in the UK.

Same problem here, can't connect to Ustink, can't use any of my legally paid for Ubistink games. Ubisoft really are the crappiest company going. It's like they are forcing their customers to pirate their games as it's the only way to be able to play them when we want!
