Now that you have seen some gameplay in action are you satisfied with the rooftops and Architecture in AC4?

Here are some screens

All of this does look impressive. I'm just hoping that they keep their word. Hopefully you can dive off any area in the sea with some real meaningful underwater gameplay and I'll be satisfied.

Yes agreed, Hopefully no "diving areas" just an all out full on ocean experience. Just wondering how they will tackle breathing under water and vision properly, apparently we can use the blowpipe as a breathing tool so that should be cool.

^It is either infinite time underwater or something like a meter when you can dive for a period of time before you have to get out I'm guessing. Hopefully you can upgrade your blowpipe (no pun intended) or whatever to dive deeper or longer (no pun intended) or something like that.

That ign rewind vid (even though those guys sounded like bafoons) talks about the ten ships that were sunk by the "hurricane" and then some other ships that sank. I think the underwater sections that we see with the wrecks will be side missions like the tombs where we use the diving bell to get down to the bottom. I'm sure we can still go underwater on command when in the water but not really to explore like we've seen with the underwater shipwrecks

Ha I do know GTAV has full on underwater exploration with sharks, reefs, sunken ships, etc. You just grab some scuba gear and go where ever you want. And the entire map of the game is 5x the size of red dead redemption so I imagine the water section is huge. If ac4's underwater exploration pisses u off, u at least have an alternative

Rooftops look visually nice, but that's as far as I'll go. What worries me is they've always shown Havana from the same perspective or area(you can always see the Cathedral), meaning the city could be small. I'm hoping, it isn't going to be cramped like ACB, judging by the scenes it certainly looks like it.

Ok, this is definitely Kingston. They've mentioned it being a mix of city and nature, so that should be interesting. I'm liking it.

But back on topic, yes, I'm satisfied. Very much so. La Habana alone could be the main setting for the game and I'd have no complaints at all. 3rd biggest city of the Americas at that point, and they're gonna really show how huge it was. Boston and New York look like kids on the playground compared to it.

Well, as somebody mentioned, Ubisoft (Ashraf Ismail maybe?) said a while back that Havana alone would dwarf Boston and New York (individually, I don't think it's bigger than both together). Even if Kingston and Nassau are tiny (and I expect Kingston at least will be a decent size) La Habana should be satisfyingly large.

What I'm excited for is the sheer variety. Old-world dense buildings in Havana/Florence 2.0, AC3-like city meets forest in Kingston, presumably some sort of shanty-town in Nassau, and of course all the other locations. Coconut islands, Mayan ruins, sugar plantations, fishing villages, etc.

Yes, i quite like the look of the rooftops in that picture. I quite like the architecture in general so far, it has that Mediterranean vibe that we got in AC2. (Although i was always unsure about how i felt about every single roof being a sloped and tiled roof)
I think the main issue with AC4's cities might be the size.

Something I'm wondering is about the tower from where you can see the Cathedral. I have the feeling they actually flipped it around for some weird reason, or they mirrored this entire image. In the first trailer where we got to see Havana, we got this image:

http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o52/Rugterwyper/gPC6vFS_zpsf8c2c930.jpg

Now the fun part is you can see the ocean to the left and the tower to the right, which I'm assuming is either the one of those two you can see relatively close to the Cathedral. So I wouldn't be too worried about that.
Personally, I'm starting to really think they mirrored that image.

EDIT: GUESS WHO FLIPPED THE IMAGE. Deleting the original just so you can get the idea. Turns out, everything points out to me being right and this being mirrored, which means you shouldn't worry, there's still a lot more to it:

Sometimes it's fun to cause damage to the character you're playing as. Like jumping from the tallest points in RDR. Or playing wipeout in good ol' Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX with friends.
Admittedly, that's also the reason I got Skate 2, because of the hall of meat and getting challenges to damage my character as much as possible. Man is that fun.

There's a comparison that I did in a previous page with a historical view of the city that got swarmed by all of this, but you can get the idea. They mirrored the city compared to that so I even ended up mirroring the image. Fits perfectly.

Wide streets, bigger gaps, less clothing lines etc. to connect the buildings and rooftop guards being able to spot you from a mile away. It was also slightly more difficult to control what Connor would grab hold of or which way he would climb. I would be shimmying slightly to the left and Connor would instead decide to move to the right to climb up a chimney. I would try to jump off the chimney towards my original direction, Connor would leap onto another, slightly smaller chimney straight in front of him instead. The first couple of times this happened I didn't mind but when it starts happening more and more it starts to get irritating.

A lot of folks complain about the rooftops in AC3, but I enjoyed the added challenge of the architecture. It's still pretty much always possible to get where you're going without going too far out of your way or going down to street level. The design could have been better, but I took it as a challenge to plan my route a few steps ahead.

The guard posts, on the other hand, were craaaazy. In AC: Revelations, AC3's immediate predecessor, guards were generally too easy. You could pretty much always take them out in ones and twos without being detected. So maybe a difficulty spike was called for. But there are zones in Boston and New York where it is literally impossible to climb without being noticed and fired upon by at least one group of four guards. And the minute they open fire, everybody comes down on you like a ton of bricks.

TBH, I think this was the biggest problem with AC3's rooftops--not the architecture itself, but the guards swarming all over it. Fewer huge groups of rooftop guards would make it way easier to traverse the skyline.

PD I like the rooftop guards the way they are in AC3, it is cool to have a little bit of a challenge.
