View Full Version : What about a Spitfire?

Just wondering if anyone else would love to see a Mk1 to a MkV Spitfire.

Then an add on map of southern England and France from Normandy to the Pas de calais would be fantastic!

Think of the Battle of Britian Campaign that would be created. I realize this simulator focus's on the Russian German air war but realistically the air struggle over England and France was as important if not more important.

Just curious if this is a possibility of seeing in the future....

It's already well the way. Someone posted a link in this forum the other day to the German FB forums and there were 4 screenshots of it flying.

Yes, it's in work, and the screens follow...but before you wonder, they are kind of "faked", because thi spit doesn't fly in the game yet.
But the renders are real and it will be available one day /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hmm those posts are for what is already in the game..BTW the Spit is a good plane, something to be proud of...BUT the Hurri was the workhorse. The Spit got the Glory the Hurri bore the brunt.

On the original post on another forum the creator of the spit said, that he placed the rendered model into an IL2 FB background (look at it, it's the same on all shots), BUT the model of the spit is for real, just not yet flyable in FB.

They didn't kill it...now it performs like it was supposed to. Read any historical documents about the Hurricane in the Battle of Britan and you'll quickly see why the Hurricane was relegated to shooting down bombers most of the time while the Spitfires went after fighters. The reason: Hurricanes were generally slower than the BF-109's and Spitfires.

Here's a nice quote:
"The battle for air superiority over England saw RAF Fighter Command devise a strategy for singling out the German bombers. They assigned Hurricane squadrons to concentrate on the bombers while the faster Spitfires engaged the escorting fighters. This tactic was determined by the differences in performance between the Spitfire and the Hurricane. The primary German fighter airplane, the Messerschmitt Bf109, outclassed the Hawker fighter in speed and armament; the difference was small enough that many times the outcome depended upon individual pilot skills. The Hurricane did enjoy several advantages over the Bf 109. It could out-turn the German fighter at all operational altitudes, it could sustain more damage and return to base, and when battle damage was so severe that a crash-landing became unavoidable, the Hurricane usually fell on friendly territory. The Hurricane's sturdy tubular construction allowed many machines to survive combat and return quickly to the fight."
( http://www.nasm.si.edu/nasm/aero/aircraft/hawker_mkiic.htm (http://www.nasm.si.edu/nasm/aero/aircraft/hawker_mkiic.htm)))

There's also a reason why Sydney Camm decided that development on the Hurricanes replacement began during that time which lead to the development of the Hawker Typhoon, a largely flawed interceptor but an incredible ground attack airplane, and the Hawker Tempest which was undoubtedly one of the fastest piston engined aircraft of its time (one of - no need for maximum speed debates).

spit is most wanted plane

battle of britain

especially first fight 109a1 spit5 41

a1 was clean doghfighter, because much less weigh as a4

had won against f4 by simulate doghfight, not bnz or energie fight

190a1 prove dogfighter

the russuia has 95% fight against jabo 190,because 109 was bad in this role

spit are interesting for german plane

spit5 match 109f

but little later a1 better

spit9 match a4

spit 14 better as 190

but little later came dora again match

and ta-152h and last spit is sure too match

109e was too match spit1,many 109e was shootdown aaa or came not back, because fuel and must go down over channel

they could only 7-10min fight, than must go home

only 300-400 was lose in fight

AFTER other things have been tweaked first though /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I would really like to see a flyable Spitfire. There are a lot of versions of the Spitfire that could be modelled, and it is a truly impressive aircraft.

Of course we're going to get a Spit (actually several marks). You can't do a proper WF or Med campaign without 'em!

I'm a 109 lover, and the game won't be complete without my 109's nemisis!
