I was wondering if anyone knew if the hookblade is making a comeback for AC4.
It was one of my favorite parts of AC: Revelations being able to zip around freely and air assassinate people.
The hookblade would fit right at place onboard a ship with all the sails and rigging. Kenway can just zip across to an enemy ship, hook his way pass guards, and assassinate captains.

So if anyone has an info on whether the hookblade will be implemented, it will be greatly appreciated.

As it wasn't in AC3, I wouldn't think so. I enjoyed the Hookblade too, Kinda wish they'd bring it back.

I don't think so at all. To me it was more a gimmick to say that they added something "new" to Revelations.

I have to admit, while it was fun, In reality, wouldn't it just slide off Ezio's arm?

Unlikely, it was an Ottoman Assassin thing, mainly. Daresay they could write it in if they wanted though.

Yea, I believe the devs were running out of ideas for Ezio, and just slapped on the hookblade to an older Ezio. It was fun but it wasn't really necessary for core gameplay.
Still, i was FUN. It would be nice to have the option to utilize the hookblade. It would be great to have other nifty hidden blade upgrades you can cycle around, depending on your playstyle. Personally I wasn't a huge fan of how the hidden blade became a knife, and you simply dual wield a tomahawk and a knife. I enjoyed the dual hidden blade puncture wound animations much more for Ezio.

Hidden Blade Optional Upgrades: Hookblade, Knife-Blade, Poison-Blade (With more varied poisoned animations)
Also did anyone else miss throwing knives? Those felt really smooth for combo killing, made me feel like an assassin. Also more fluid than simply shooting a guy with a gun.

Nah I doubt it, It was too gimmicky for me anyway. I'm glad they left it out of ACIII.

I would love to see it make a comeback

It aided traversal in the game. You could combat roll over blocking guards and climbing was faster (a bit too fast some may say). Plus it gave us some really sweet combat kills.

IMO it should be added...as an optional upgrade...for the speedy assassins

I have never ever played a game in which I didn't enjoy zip-lines. Seriously they are awesome and should be in all games! It's pure, simple fun. Doesn't matter if it's Farcry, Uncharted, or ACR :D! That said I didn't quite like the hookblade as it for some reason felt like a bit unelegant that the iconic hidden blades now had a hook attached to them. I would prefer some other visual solution. But yeah zip-lines should def return imo.

Not sure about a hookblade but I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a fishhook! lol

From the footage I have seen it looks like Edward is the bait ;)

Unless Ezio tightens his hands around the hook during climbing, no Hook attached to a vambrace can support a grown man's weight. They don't even brace their hands around the hook to climb, they just curl it into a fist, which makes no sense. Even if they do, their hands will be shred to fine slices by the blade, before they even reach the second floor. Makes zero sense to me.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the hidden blade would be used in navigation. But it didn't say how.

You could combat roll over blocking guards

You can still do this in AC3. Just press the tackle button when approaching blocking guards.

Lol, imagine that zipping across the city!

Meh.. not a Big fan of the hookblade. Like others stated before it felt to "gimmicky". Like OH! Let's keep Ezio fresh and new by adding something "new". I found myself only using it when I had too. It just wasn't really smooth to me! I personally like the Knife idea better, and makes more logical sense that way to me anyways.

But! I do like the idea of customizing your hidden blade to be a hook, kife, or poison blade. It would make for a more unique experience for each player. I can't wait to see how the blow dart is going to play into everything.

Man.. thanks for Snake for the trailer... I still love AC3 trailers! They were so good.
