Guys

Last night was watching a documentary on the famous raid on the Italian port of Taranto.

I was wondering if there were any plans to include this in FB http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also in AEP are torpedo drops more realistic.
In FB one could drop torpedoes from any height, speed.

I still remember a old DOS title called "pacific Wars:1942" (yep showing my age) in which this was done where one would approach the target nervously at a set speed and height & holding your breath & hoping your torpedo was not a dud.
IMHO a title a way head of its time.

I played a version of the Taranto raid in CFS2 and always liked it. The idea of a swordfish with torpedeos would be a great addition to FB..(then we need carriers)
Actually we need torpedoes as a loadout on more aircraft in FB as it is. I don't know if it was ever used operationally but I have seen pics of an Fw190 with a torpedo and P38s with torpedoes. The PBY needs torps as well.

As for whether the torpedo drops in AEP are more realistic...good question. I haven't tried it yet. (I remember in CFS2, there were limitations on height and speed for drops. Low and slow was the order of the day) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

1942 the pacific air war was an amazing title. I especially enjoyed the strategy element whereby you controlled the task forces and then jumped into an aircraft when you raids found the enemy.

1942: The Pacific Air War was indeed a fantastic game way ahead of its time, i used to love that game, it was my FB for years. My favourite was the torpedo bomber campaign which was very hard to survive more than a few missions with the intense AAA from ships, as if the torpedo drop itself was'nt hard enough, u had to be at just the right height and speed, and IIRC if you were to high or fast upon the drop the torpedo occasionally exploded.

Did any of you have the enhanced version which also included a career mode for the American Army Air Force and the Japanes Army Air Force?
