View Full Version : Would a FAKED Japanese voice-pack be OK?

By that I mean one which IS speaking Japanese (and air-combat related) but not necessarily what FB is trying to get the pilot to say.
I made it on Tuesday and have been using it since. (I've converted some files from a voice-pack from EAW)
It sounds OK to me (far better than my Japanese pilots speaking German) but then I don't speak Japanese.
Actually, where I've used raised, higher-pitched voices, for the "clear my tail" and "I've been hit" type calls and more sedate voices for the vectors etc It works pretty well, even if I do say so myself http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I've not included ALL the radio-calls just the most frequently used ones.

I suppose that unless you actually speak Japanese it'll be a welcome addition...

Will it?

Well that answers my next question./
Thanks a lot mate.

BTW I now have a bit more free time and was thinking of you the other day...
Remember that little campaign you sent me?
How about if I 'edited' it and sent it back to you. Maybe if you like the slight changes (and I mean slight) you could host it for others to download.
Maybe talk on a private topic if you'd prefer..

A stand-in voice pack will be acceptable. At some point the Japanese sim community will do one and then we'll use that. And if Luthier's secret project really is the Pacific, we should see it sooner.

It's funny you sould say that. I have a young Japanese American man at my 2nd gig at Best Buy. I approached him about making a Japanese voice pack for me. He said he would do it...and he has several cousins and uncles...some of whom were in WW2 (fighting for the US in the 442nd) who could help him in making an authentic Japanese voice pak for FB. I came here today.(well I'm here ANYWAY..LOL.. but at the moment..http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)to ask you specifically how you did the British voice pack. Did you use a script and if so can I get a copy? Will it be different for a Japanese voice pack or is it basically the same for all the languages? If there is a script please send it to the email addy in my sig. I will bring a copy of it to the young man in question. How syhould it be formatted? As a wave file? A MPEG file? How should they be arranged? How do you set it up so that it is accurate? I need to know all this. Thanks!!! Hopefully we will have a Japanese voice pack in a few weeks.... unless someone beats me too it.

Hello Bearcat!

I am the man you are looking for. I put together the RAF voice pack that you hear with Extreme_One and Poyamando's B.o.B Campaign. This also includes the radio chatter and the menu music.

I do have the scripts and will gladly send you a copy but let me give you a fair warning, I started the RAF voice pack in the middle of September 2003 and just finished it about a week ago January 2004. It is a very time consuming project if you really wish for the quality (1940's radio static, sound effects, etc) as you hear on the RAF voice pack. There are a total of 9 voice actors, no matter the nationality, they all have the same script and each has an aprox. of 160 calls!!! I will be glad to work on it after I take a merited break and finish one of my movies but it will not be ready in two weeks, most likelly before MAY/JUNE 2004. Hope this helps.
