How hard would it be to complie a central data base (for online use) of all Air Groups that would be searchable by specified queries?

Here's what I have in mind.

We take all of our various resources of info on Air Groups and enter it all into a data base such as Access (or some other data base program) and post it on the Internet. Nothing glitzy mind you.

This data base could be used by mission builders who want historical accuracy as to what AG was where and at what date and (as best as we can find) what targets they sortied against. The data could include all nationalities and air forces.

Data could be querried by deployment (carrier or land base) and date.

When I say *Air Groups* I mean just that, which would include all squadrons that make up the AG's.

What do you guys think.

Great idea. I have to admit all the different markings for Il-2 had me daunted since I hadn't the slightest clue what unit belonged where.

I'd do better in the PTO since it's my proimary area of interest in ww2, but still it's an awesome idea.

Yeah, I thought it would be massively helpful. Most of my knowledge so far is in the PTO as well, and that's mostly based around the CV-6.

If some one is prepared to do the initial programming (ASP/PERL/PHP) and commit to maintaining it I would be more than happy to host it either at www.netwings.org (http://www.netwings.org) or possiblly alongside www.il2db.com (http://www.il2db.com)

My programming skills are next to nill. Don't know anything about those three porgrams you mentioned, but I do have MS Access. I really haven't messed with it much, but I guess this would be a good incentive to figure the thing out.

I'll see what I can do with it.
