Hi,

Just got the game and am trying to setup my views. I am trying to set certain views so that they are activated by a combination of two keys but I cannot work out how to do it.

Any pointers?

cheers

Your question is rather general in nature. What exactly are you trying to do? The Controls menu allows you to assaign any function to any key, and functions can even have both a keyboard input as well as a game controller input.

I am trying to set up the views for IL2.

Basically I want to pan around the horizontal plane with a toggle hat with locked views (ie toggle left -> snap look left). Then I want to be able to press a button (the pinky switch on the x45) and use the same toggle hat to do the same pan but with a veticle up added (ie pan view but adding the look up 45 degree view)..

Hope that is clear.

I just want to know how to configure a control so it is activated by a combination of two buttons (or 1 button and a toggle hat input).

cheers

Sounds like you'd have to do this in the Saitek software and make a profile for your X45. I'm not that familiar with the X45. I do know it has 2 hats, so if your unwilling to use one for horizontal panning and the other for 45+ degree panning, then it might require a profile.

Wait, just had an epiphany! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Edit: " Leave your veiws on the hat horizontal." Try turning your pinkie trigger into the Look Up function. You'll look straight up, but when you use the hat, it should modify the views to 45+ degrees. Hope this helps, good luck and

You need to be working in the Saitek profiling software to match the default view assignments rather that trying to assign the views in game. You may need to use "Advanced" mode.

Before trying further, go to the Saitek site and make sure you have the latest driver/profiling software for the X45. Some of the older versions are a tad buggy http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have this setup from within IL2 settings.
One button for "look up" and one for "look down".The pov hat is default setting except pushing up wich is set to "front lock up".So ,when you press the look up button and any pov hat direction you´ll get a left look up view and so on.

Have you tried Adlabs6 X45 profile? It comes with a great user manual. I use it - saves programming the stick yourself and the layout is good once you are used to it. Hat 1 is set to "mouse look" in other words you point it to where you want to look and pressing the mouse fire switch on the HOTAS recentres the view if you get "lost". I find it easy to use and I am fairly new to both the X45 and IL2.

Also a common problem with new X45s is "stickyness" if you have this problem try rubbing a wax candle round the base of the cup (the bit just below the spring). I tried this with mine and it works a treat! Hope this is of some use.

If you have an X45 why not use the mouse pan for views? It is much more efficient and yo can look around in a smooth, panning fashion. Go to the controller software and highlight the oranfe mouse pan button. Look on the left side and you will see a little arrow. Hit that arrow and select mouse pan (you will also see 4 way hat,8 way hat etc) Once you select mouse pan adjust the sensitivity to your taste. If you want to do combo keys you can assign one key to say...CTRL or SHIFT..or ALT.. or all three. My little black switch next to the mouse pan switch is set to CTRL in mode 1.SHIFT in mode 2 and ALT in mode three.. This way if in mode 1 I can do a SHIFT F@ say to see the friendlies,CTRL F@ to view the enimies...and I have a whole nother list of combo commands to set up in FB setup section for ALT keys.

You can also assign one key on your stick to the CTRL button if you are not using a HOTAS and therby turn an 8 button stick into a 14 button stick with some creative key assigning. Plus with the one button as CTRL you can also assign the 12,3,6 & 9 O'clock positions of your hat switch as controls as well bringint the toal nujber of commands on a standard 8 button stick to 18. The only reason I recommend only using the 4 hat inputs is that it gets kind of dicey in the heat of the action when you are using an 8 way hat for anything other than views.
