It was a loyalty thing, though it seems to be quite random. I got it too, but I've also been with playstation since the original grey box.

It seems that Sony figured out that I have given up on the PS3, cause they didn't even bother to send me a gift to pull me back...

I wonder if it's just Playstation Plus members. I had a notice on my screen that said they'd give you $10 in credit for every $50 spent and I did, but have not seen it yet...

Is Google that hard to use? Took me all of 3 seconds to find this:

Tomb Raider. BioShock Infinite. God of War (http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Sony-PSN-Credit-bonus-deal,news-16809.html#): Ascension. Yes, March 2013 is shaping up to be a great month for videogame releases. To capitalize on increased user purchases for the month, Sony's offering a promotion until April 1 that offers up $10 in PSN credit for every $50 spent on purchases in the PS Store. According to Polygon (http://www.polygon.com/2013/2/26/4032646/sony-psn-credit-march), this offer is valid for a $49.99 purchase of PS Plus, and no, you won't have to spend that extra penny to make it count.
There's no limit to this offer, so March 2013 might be Christmas come early. Sony will be sending out the promotional credit out by April 12, so don't panic if the promotional credit doesn't show up immediately.
The offer's already live now, so feel free to start your PSN spending spree.

That's a different promo friend, I personally haven't spent a dime in the store as of late and still got the credit. This was happening in Feb. anyway.

Yeah, that was something else exolstice. Sony randomly sent out $10 codes about a week ago the night before their PS4 press conference. A few of my friends and I got one, but I know people taht have spent loads of money that didn't.
