To gather some other posts/info together in one place:

If you fly as USAAF, in particular, and want some additional WWII-era immersion, download the Zipped Wav files, at the bottom of this post, for something completely different.

Each radio.wav file will provide WWII era 1940's radio broadcast music for your listening enjoyment (In Cockpit) on your USAAF P47 or P51 missions, especially as you are enroute to a distant target area(30 minutes of listening pleasure as you scan the various radio frequencies, looking for some distracting entertainment before you get to the target area). Be advised that WWII era radio reception wasn't HiFi..in fact, at times it was horrible!

Place One (or all three) of the "WW2Radio*.wav" files into your Samples/Music/InFlight folder, after removing any other *.wav files you might currently have in that folder. FB will "Play" any/All files in that folder Randomly. Each of these WW2Radio*.wav files will provide 30 minutes of relative enjoyment. Theoretically, FB will play all three, one after the other.

If you want to terminate a particular WAV/Radio File, while flying,
Open console (shift and ` ) then type
music STOP
Then hit(enter)
FB will then stop playing the current Wav file and SHOULD select and play a different one.

I strongly recommend that you NOT just Play the Wav file in your Windows Media Player...just unzip, place it in the samples/music/InFlight folder, then go fly.

Of course, Remember to have your FB sound setup General Screen toggled to"Play Music" ON, and in the Music screen that you have toggled "Play InFlight Music" ON. You'll be tuning/surfing with your radio after you take off (note that this "immersion" is only effective flying totally "In-Cockpit", and if you switch to Autopilot, it appears that when you Return to manual control, the radio Wav File may start again from the beginning, OR a different Wav file in the samples/music/InFlight folder.

You'll have to experiment with the FB sound setup screen to set the relative volumes of this "Music" versus "Objects"(engine, guns, etc) and your Operational "Radio" chatter... I set mine so that when flying, this entertainment radio reception volume is lower than my other cockpit ambient sounds...sort of below/behind/in-the-background if that makes any sense.

The "ether" being Free to all, there is no reason that Luftwaffe or Russian VVS or anyone could not tune in to these mainly American broadcasts..in fact, you Might even roll across some German broadcasts, and/or British..In fact, I know you will...

I'll shortly be 'releasing' a Pacific version, complete with some Tokyo Rose broadcasts, and perhaps some other surprises...

Let me know what you think...

Thanks Oberst. I really enjoy the RAdio and Radio2 .wavs. I'm d/ling Radio3 now. I wish there was a way to have all three and switch. But then I'd like my cake and eat it too. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

If you put all three into the Samples/Music/inFlight folder, FB Should select one at random when you fly...I don't know for sure yet, but MAYBE if you go in and out of autopilot, it MIGHT then again Randomly pick a new/Different file, so you'd theoretically have in-flight diversionary entertainment for a total of 1 1/2 hours...with more to come as I put together some additional compilations...

I'm going to Try to get Oleg to incorporate some sort of In-Flight, In-Cockpit control of this aspect in the 2005 Battle of Britain Sim.

Just got back from an extended flight in my P-47 and it appears that you can't switch between .wav files, at least as you suggested. (Switching Autopilot on/off). At least it didn't work for me. However it appears that the files play in the order in which you place them in the folder.

A big ~S~ to you for providing these files! It really increases the immersion factor by 10 for me. I can imagine how those pilots must have felt, hearing music and radio shows from home, thinking about the loved ones they left behind and are now fighting for......WOW!

As usual, great work! Your contributions, as well as those of everyone else, is just one more reason this is without a doubt, the best flight sim ever.

Wiley, what do you think of splitting the segments up into shorter blocks? Six blocks of 5 mintues is far better for diversity than one block of 30. Fly with them several times and you'll have the order memorized... especially the beginning parts of the broadcasts. Just a thought, I haven't used them yet.

I like the idea very much, especially for offline play. The third-party guys for Jane's WWII fighters made a similar file that has authentic-sounding broadcasts, very convincing. Unfortunately, it suffers from the phenomenon I mentioned above.

Thanks for the input Mike, I'll look into it, but I don't think it will work well...

The thing is, if one loads, say, seven five minute *.wav files(blocks) into the samples/music/InFlight Folder, FB will Randomly select ONE to Play....therefore, on a 30 minute mission, you would hear THAT single five-minute 'program'/'song' over and over and over again... UNLESS one repeatedly turned the autopilot on and off, as it seems that when one does so it Re-starts the file in the InFlight Folder...BUT, MAYBE it will Randomly at THAT point select a different *.wav file to play. Might work: one could just quiickly punch the auto pilot key twice(on/off) and a different radio selection Might play! It would almost be a pseudo-radio-tuning operation...you'd just get that momentary 'jerk' to autopilot, And have to reset your trim(which would be a pain)...Of course that requirement to reset trim might depend on which options you have running with regard to Auto and Level autopilot you use..

Additionally, in the current 30 minute versions (specifically the newest one), I've cranked in some "tuning/searching/dial spinning/static/etc within and between the various "radio stations/channels/programs" as might be the case due to atmospherics, frequencies, or whatever...

I'll have to experiment more.

P.S. Have you checked your EMail this evening yet?? I sent something important vis-a-vis 'our' Site

Didn't realize that it only loads one of the tracks. I was under the impression that it randomly plays through all the tracks in the folder. Oh well.

Saw your mails, but won't have time to implement it tonight, it'll have to wait a day. I'm just scanning this forum on short breaks.

I was flying with Beebop the other evening and he told me about these radio .wav files. They are great. Totally adds to imersion. Thanks for your work. Yours and others contributions helps make this sim unlike any other on the planet. S!

For those that want to swich tracks while flying. Try this...I'm not sure if it works properly as I'm currently experimenting with some different audio on my rig (all will be revealed).

Open console (shift and ` ) then type
music STOP
(enter)
music PLAY
(enter)
I reckon that will select a new track to play.

Can you let me know?

This works although you don't need to do the

music PLAY line. Simply typing:-

music STOP in the console stops the current track and loads the next one in your inflight folder.

I've not figured out all of the exact quirks of FB's music playing yet, myself.

Anyway, here's two zipped files, each of which contains 9 or 10 individual WWII-era songs... As we now know clearly, they can all simply be dropped into the samples/music/inflight folder...FB MIGHT play one particular song First, everytime you fly...but then it does appear that ALL the otehr *.wav files in the folder WILL be played randomly. If all the "Radio" files are in your Folder, there should be considerable variety in "entrtainment, roughly 2 1/2 hours worth...

Generally speaking, I play the Radio Entertainment(Music) lower than other cockpit ambient sounds, and with the engine noise, etc, the tuning, frequency searching, static, interference, distortions, etc, which I inserted in my three original three 'compiled' Radio Selection files, are relatively lost and unnoticed anyway...Especially so as one becomes distracted by the primary objective...finding and killing the enemy.
