Yeah it's on, I couldn't watch the pre-race events, too much military, patriotism and politics involved. This is so ridiculous. At least I can enjoy the race.

I believe that no sport event should be affiliated with the military, politics or religion. Just imagine a stanley cup or basketball finals with patriotism, military, politics and a prayer before each game. Nascar pre-race shows are good events if you want to brainwash your kids. I prefer to live in my cave instead of being a brainless sheep in a flock.

i'm a rally guy myself. i'd rather not watch a car take the same turn 100 times. i'd rather see 1 car take 100 turns 1 time.

Some folks think that if you're not being rah-rah America, you are a bad American http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif I am not surprsied that kids and childish adults feel this way, what surprises me is that so many intelligent, rational people fall victim to the mentality that this brand of "Patriotism" is the right thing to do, and should also be tacked on to every flipping thing under the Sun.

I don't need to prove I like my country or be shown that I am of the 'correct' opinion, just like everyone else.

Actually, I liked my rolling eyes reply better!

I'm watching the Race, where you can find politics in a vehical that is doing about 176mph is beyond me! And I've been watching Auto Racing since the early 60's.

Maybe you should stop reading news papers or watching T.V. news for awhile!

Fine, agreed. But he injected discontented pre-race 'politics' in this thread.

You can apply it to the Grammies and politics from the other end of the spectrum as well. Its more discreet if its not brought up in traditional events period.

And it was not the intent of this thread's author.

I'm going to apologize for what I said. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
The statement I made is totally wrong and should not have been made without my facts straight.
The Car's are doing 187mph and that is US Miles Per Hour not KPH. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I like most auto racing, I own a 1961 Pontiac Ventura, 389 4 barrel and with duel exshaust. I use to go with my father and a uncle who worked on the infield of a 3/4 track back in the late 50's and still helps building stock cars today. The track is now a Shopping Mall, talk about Politics!
http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gifGot to watch the end of the race.

Just don't forget to turn left...

Sorry - couldn't resist. One good thing about NASCAR is that the race is close & everybody can see the whole track - but it does get boring when they've done 200 horizontal loops. I prefer road courses from ovals - that's real driving imo.

So when Diogenes perceived that he was greatly excited and quite keyed up in mind with expectancy, he toyed with him and pulled him about in the hope that somehow he might be moved from his pride and thirst for glory and be able to sober up a little. For he noticed that at one time he was delighted, and at another grieved at the same thing, and that his soul was as unsettled as the weather at the solstices when both rain and sunshine come from the very same source.

(Dio Chrysostom "Discourse" 4.77-78)

If anyone here thinks that I am commenting in any way on what the originator of this thread said at ANY time, it's time for you to re-read my posts. I am replying 100% in regard to the whole "U Suk,," thing.

Nothing at all to do with woofiedog at all, you've got nothing to say sorry for.

How anyone could misunderstand what I posted is beyond me, unless you didn't read the part of my second post that refers to my first. Not my fault you didn't read it! And if it was confusing to you, not my fault you jumped to conclusions. If you wanted clarification, fine, but jeez, I was sticking up for a guy who was told he "Suked" because he had an opinion. Well, I have one, too: the member who posted that "U Suk,," comment is a big fat dummy-butt http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I am not preaching ANY politics, I'm saying- stop shoving phony politics in my face.

Even though this whole thread should have been kept to racing I'll respond here to you Chuck in case any others misunderstood me.

Time and again an innocent thread has takes off in an opposite direction because of politics or ideology. Rick_475 was discontented enough to emphasize an aspect of the ceremony and pre-race. His opinion as stated was political in itself. So was robnyva's as he was inflamed and responded. I didn't say you were preaching, if you want to take it so personal that's your decision. You did elaborate in agreement on rick's point of view.

I'll keep it short and leave it as is, I don't want it to become a self-righteous mess. I've agreed with and appreciated many of your posts since you've been here.

If you want further elaboration I'm more than willing to spend some time in PT with you.
