- P-38
- B-24
- P-61

Now, I'm not sure why we're getting the P-80, but we are. And I'm told that it absolutely rocks the German jets. Much whining is on the way.

Crash;

I agree on the P-80. Not to diparage Gibbage's awesome work, but why a P-80?

I REALLY want the P-38!
And the B-25. (Flyable please)
And a flyable Ju-88.

And if we're going to have Pacific maps we at least need an F4F Wildcat and the F6F Hellcat.

Nothing against Gib's work, of course. It's just I thought the P-80 was a Korean era jet?

Has to be the F4U. I can't pretend I'm Pappy Boyington on that cheezy TV show getting all the hot WAVS and nurses in those other planes.....meatball http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif......IIRC that was his favorite term, man I'm to young for halfzhiemers

Well we have a couple of versions of the P-38 on the way in the add-on and a later one sometime this year. I too am really hoping for the Corsair, but we can't forget the Hellcat either. As far as the P-80 is concerned there were two operational in the MTO for combat trails at the end of hostilities in the ETO. I know that may be nothing, but at least they were there at the end of the war. So I can see the justification for having them around. I can't wait to fly it actually, it will be the first Jet I have flown in this game. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I guess the P-80 is more justified than the B-1, eh? lol

I miss the Corsair and Hellcat from CFS2 days. After the add-on they would be nice to look forward to. Actually, the more the merrier as long as they flew in WWII.

I can see the justification of the Me-262. It was operational for the latter part on the war and was encountered with some regularity just before the end of hostilities. However the P-80, as pointed out, was barely operational at the end of WW II. I too think of it as a Korean War jet. I am unaware of it's role in any WW II battle. Not to say it didn't. If so could someone provide a link to this info?
But, it'll be in the add-on and so great. I'll give it a spin, just like I did the 262, but will remain, at least for this game, a propeller-head.

The YP-80's in the MTO at end of hostilities never saw any combat action. They were there for trials, but never encountered an enemy. I agree it is definately more of a Korean War era fighter, but we have many a/c either in game or coming that never saw any action and were barely off of the drawing boards. To me it will be fun to play in, but I will go right back to my Jug and Pony, especially since I will finally have the Malcom hooded P-51B(Which is listed as a C in the add-on, same aircraft one made in Dallas"C", one in Inglewood, CA "B")http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I really want the Corsair, but if we got planes like that I would want a carrier to take off from. The B-29 would be cool flyable too.

Well...I'd like an F4F. and I'm suprised no one mentioned this...

Also used (in small numbers) by the USAAF in Europe...

The SBD is needed....

... A-20.. B-26... P-61... I'm all for them small attack type planes... As for the P-80... it'll be fun to have that... maybe then the 262 won't be banned as much... and from what I've heard... they had just the same sort of problems as 262's... weak engines or something.. can't remember exactly... The He 162 will take over as the dominant jet fighter I reckon leaving the 262 for bomber attack and dive bombing.... I can sense the coops coming on hehe

Well as the theme of this thread is US planes, and considering what is aleady in the pipeline (B-25, P-38), lets see....

For looks it would be the B-25 more sleek stablemate, the Martin B-26 Marauder. Very effective medium bomber in the ETO.

For cross theatre appeal, I think the A-20/Havoc. Used by RAF, USAAF and VVS. This is the best choice for a plane usable in a wide variety and settings.

More PTO fighters would be nice, but you would need some more Japanese planes adding as well (as LeadSpitter said).

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall
