Some of the best movie music and performance stuff I've ever seen was in "August Rush"... The part where the kid plays a type of slap guitar is actually Kaki King, who is amazing.

It also has some pretty cool Rock/Classical mashups of songs during the movie... Pretty darn good family movie, if you haven't seen it.

Agreed. AAMOF, I liked all the music in that flick. You can thank Ry Cooder and Steve Vai for that.

+1

The Johnny Depp animated movie Ringo actually has some nice guitarwork in the soundtrack but no actual playing.

Also (haven't read whole thread so someone has probably posted this already), the Selma Hayek dance scene in Dusk to Dawn with Tito and Tarantula playing some raunchy blues tune on stage.

Guess not...the tone on the guitar is awesome, the song is called After Dark:

Well here's one of my favorite scenes from the movie adaptation of BECK. A lot of continuity issues compared to the manga, but still cool.
The fictional band 'Dying Breed' who are pretty much the last of the real rock bands ever are performing. Eddy Lee is the blonde guy looking one while Matt Reed is the bald one. They're pretty much suppose to be a positive upbeat version of Kurt Cobain and a sunglasses wearing badass, more aggressive, heavy drinking version of Michael Stipe.

Notice the Japanese Lucille guitar in there. (The Les Paul with the bullet holes in it.)

I always love that clip. I also enjoy the revised version in Back to the Future 2 when Marty is fighting Biff's goons back stage.

Some air guitar action. McFly but hairier. :)

I am looking for a guitar scene in a movie, but I cannot for the life of me remember the movie title or how the song went.

The scene was located in a wooded environment where two people were having a date. The man was making a romantic gesture, so he had a young kid walk out of the bushes playing a romantic song on the guitar and singing for them.

I really thought the scene was from the movie, "Yes man", but after doing some research, I have come to the conclusion the scene does not exist in that movie.
I know I haven't provided much information, but if anyone knows or thinks they know what I am talking about, I would love to hear your answers.

According to the storyline Bill and Ted are terrible musicians so they travel to the future for 16 months of guitar training. They made the movie in 1991 so they would have had to travel 22 years into the future to plug into Rocksmith for their intense 16 month training. For the crowd it appeared they were gone for a few seconds. :)
