I've been seeing incredible screenies from the carrier Ops from Lady Lex. I noticed the deck was in natural wood finish. This was a pre-war characteristic of the flight decks. Will we see the U.S. carrier flight decks stained Dark Sea Blue?

I emailed Luthier a link to a site that has all the camo schemes used by the US Navy. Don't know if he got it or not.

Vidar, have you seen the CV6 in the all blue camo?

It would be great to get some clarification and accuracy on this. From what I've seen, some carriers had an un-stained wooden deck (perhaps some of the oder ships) until at least 1942.

Here's a color shot of the Saratoga circa 1942:

one of the Enterprise in May 1944:

also would like to know if the big 8" guns will be kept on the Lexington as they were removed before the Battle of Coral See (by May 1942).

Ah man!
TurkeyV! Your source mis-named that carrier M8! That is Lexington! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif
Saratogoa being the same class looked exactly the same so they did something to distinguish the two. They painted a broad black vitical stripe right down the middle of Sara's smoke stack so pilots wouldn't land on the wrong boat. No black stripe = Lady Lex!

Nice pic of the Blue deck I was askin' about though.
