Don't know about anyone else but I have noticed on Naval missions such as The Sea Wolves where you have to defend 8 merchant ships from 4 Frigates the A.I of those ships is so stupid it makes attaining full sync difficult or almost impossible for example at the start your placed between the ships in an arrow formation if you stay in the middle you get squeezed when the Frigates appear assuming at least 2 of the merchant ships haven't driven into you and exploded, so that leaves you 2 options at the start veer hard left/right and go up the left/right side of the merchant vessel formation.

Going left is a waste of time as you get pinched or run aground on the shallows when the Frigates appear, so the only viable option is to go right, now using roundshot when the Frigates appear i can veer hard right and get off 1 maybe 2 unobstructed broadsides at the lead Frigate before it turns towards the merchant vessels but after that it all goes downhill the lightly armed merchant vessels deliberately sail into full on broadsides from the enemy Frigates and each time you get into position to fire a broadside at one of the enemy Frigates there are at least 2 merchant vessels in the way meaning they usually get hit.

If that isn't bad enough those same merchant vessels have no awareness of their surroundings at all, I have lost count the number of merchant vessels in that mission lost simply because of all the water they could occupy they choose to occupy the same piece of water as my ship at exactly the same time sailing straight into me m aking no attempt to avoid me even when I turn to avoid them they just plough right into my vessel and because its fully upgraded they usually explode on impact, or better yet they sail right into the rocks of the nearby island and explode.

Its as if there was so much of a rush to get this out the door they forgot to use a little common sense when programming the A.I I mean what Skipper of a lightly armed merchant vessel in their right mind would decide to go head to head against a Frigate by continuously exposing themselves to a full broadside of a Frigate instead of using the one advantage they have which is speed and make a run for it so the Frigate that is escorting you can deal with the threat.

Sorry for the wall of text but had to be rather clear as to what the issue was so I was wondering if anyone else has had the same or similar issues in Naval missions which feature allied ships.

At least, this problem makes two of us both...and perhaps, many yet more are having this same problem. I oft do ask myself as of why bother defending those merchant vessels when they will sail themselves into the enemies' shots, and shall they do survive the shots, they will also sail themselves into rocks or just ram themselves into the Aquila...so...why bother at all?

Tried it again several more times the best I have managed on The Sea Wolves mission is to get 7 of the 8 vessels to survive although that was down to mere luck and 2 very odd bugs the luck part was being able to direct a full broadside of roundshot into the rear of 2 of the Frigates (which on a fully upgraded Aquila is around 38 cannons per side) before they could score hits on the merchant vessels, while the other 2 Frigates got stuck in the shallows which is where the odd bugs come in :

1 of the Frigates managed to beach itself on the Island in such a position that it couldn't fire on any of the merchant vessels, the second Frigate somehow got itself in a position where the bow and stern were hanging in mid air because the middle of the ship was inside of a solid rock outcropping in the shallows and after destroying the other 3 Frigates it turned on it side floated to about 60 feet in the air on its side and proceeded to levitate to a position half a mile away from the merchant vessels allowing me to approach un obstructed and finish it off before the merchants could crash into it

I'll see shall I able to get that lucky as you did...
