I was flying a coop mission last night (can't remember whose but it was a 110 attack on shipping in the Med) and on my first run into the harbor I got my left engine blown off and the right half of my horizontal and rudder as well. I managed to limp back home. I could only hold 220kph and 180m altitude (has to keep combat flaps deployed). Getting to the airstrip was fun cause it's the one nestled in the mountain valley of the one island map. But I managed it. Of course I porked the landing and ended up with no wings and no tail in the middle of the runway after a cartwheel. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/1072.gif (I took some screenie to prove it..LOL Now I have to get them hosted so I can show.)

But I did make it back to base despite what most would consider crippling damage. And I wasn't killed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif Like all the fighter pilots said, as long as the plane is flying stay with it.

Oh, I did manage to sink one ship in the harbour. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

The realism in this sim is constantly amazing me with it's immersion factor.

Just thought I'd share............

Yesterday I got one of the best online kills I've ever had with the 110G2. A sqadmade was chasing down an I-185 in a Zero (futile I know) on the online islands map. I came in to assist from altitude doing roughly 550kph and passed the Zero as I closed the distance with the 185 to around .65. He was flying down one of the valley's at an altitude of 20M flat out when I cut loose a one second burst from the 108's which DETONATED his aircraft. I sure wish that one was on tape.

Yep, isnt it excellent http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. Ive taken out 2 51s with standard nose armament that where attacking another 110 in one of my squads Online campaign. Not a good DF plane but if you get unlucky to get your fighter in her sights, your as good as dead. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Start a 110 campaign. It is the most rewarding offline experience I have had with this game.

Immersing, you are fighting for your life tooth and nail every inch of the way. I have 12 missions done, tons of ground kill,s 5 air kills ( fighters over shoot and wind up in front of my BK 3.7 . . . . or I run into a flight of IL-2s and just head on them on my way to target, again with the BK 3.7). I've lost engines, parts of my tail assembly, controls, hydraulics, everything.

I remember one attack on an enemy airbase where the AAA and the fighter cover was so dense that I limped back home with one functioning engine, the only surviving german aircraft. My cockpit had bullet holes out the wazoo, trailing smoke, fuel, etc. Massive wing damage, missing one airelon and one elevator, rudders torn to peices but still functioning. A nice belly landing . . .. oh, god. I covered so much ground barely maintaining 50 meters of altitude. I almost cried I was so happy when I landed.
