View Full Version : Would you purchase Assassin's creed 1 again if it was redesigned?

If the producers were to redo the first Assassin's creed with the new anvil engine, new kill animations and improved graphics with all of AC3's new technology but the storyline was kept exactly the same with maybe a few extra missions in there like Altair's trip to kill Genghis Khan, would you purchase it?

Most definitely. I still love AC1 even though it's very repetitive. There's just something about the atmosphere that I love.

Definitely, I loved AC1. It had a beautiful and very realistic world, but the sad thing was that it was empty. I don't get how they created such a massive space, but didn't bother filling it up. A redesign with loads of side content, cutscenes, varied mission structure, but kept the story and atmosphere exactly the same would be awesome.

YES ! i really donīt think they took advantage of the time period in AC1,they left so many thing out in the first one, they have to explain why Altair is deliviring letters to farmers though(the most terrible kind of side quests)

I was just thinking this the other day actually. The setting of AC1 was so awesome, but it was held back by limited gameplay and mission structure. If AC1 could use all the improvements up to AC3, but keep the setting, it would be so awesome.

The allure of AC1 was definitely the setting.

Most Definitely. AC1 had so much potential but it's repetitiveness, lackluster gameplay and interaction with the gaming world made it a chore for me to finish. The story was the only thing that kept me going.

If they made a remastered AC1 with AnvilNext, AC Revelations graphics/character models (for Assassins, Crusaders, and citizens), AC3 Desmond model, new animations, and included a Mongol Threat DLC, yeah, I'd buy it.

yea probably. but thats because i never played it. itd be fairly new to me. only thing that stopped me from buying it the 1st time was that AC2 was already out. and that it was superior in every important way

ace3001
11-29-2012, 01:11 AM
Probably not. The game got boring after some time, due to the repetitive nature of the missions. Only the storyline kept me going on despite that. Now that I know the story, that won't work either. So unless the mission structure is reworked, no.

Rogue-Eaglet
11-29-2012, 04:53 AM
If they did, the main story better not be changed though it should at least attempt to tie in with the snippets we've seen in ACR. Also, it had better come with trophies this time round.

I'm not saying it sucks. But you can't tell me everyone who was making the game thought it was ready to go. Especially with Liberation. They forced it out because they wanted to hurry up and get the cash flowing. If they remake AC1, it wont be much different.

I mean Liberation is so broken I can't load my game. I basically bought a Vita for that game. So you can understand why I'd be a little disappointed.

I would only consider buying it if they redesigned the missions. Eavesdrop, pickpocket, beat up, assassinate, rinse, repeat. Boring. If they came up with better mission mechanics, I would be happy. I did enjoy the story, so I think they should keep it. Just make the gameplay less repetitive.

I dunno about Liberation cause I don't have a Vita, but AC3 really does have issues. The more I play, the more bugs I come across. The lastest being having my synch percentage in stats not update since 69% upto 78% where it suddenly jumped forward and now seems to be stuck again. I don't really care, cause all I have to do is just fill the bars in the DNA menu and consider it done even if the stats don't update, but it's an annoyance nevertheless.
Maybe you were lucky to have no bugs, but the truth is, AC3 could've done with a lot more playtesting. You not having to face bugs doesn't mean that the game is bug free.

Turul.

If AC 1 is re-made using the AC-3 ENGINE - YEP i'm in , Aside from the instant death when hitting the water - Nothing was really too bad in the original at the time.

Add the ability to swim & the changing weather system , Plus new fight animations to the actual moves Altair had ..........And WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ??
AC 1 will always be a great game to me - Any performance improvement to it's core can only be a good thing.
So yeah , i'd buy it.

I used to think this would be a good idea, but after I saw what they did with Altair missions in ACR I don't think they should do that, I doubt they would be able to recreate the same atmosphere AC1 had, I also prefer the way the cinematics were handled in AC1, it was really cool and immersive see some events from the POV we play the game and then trigger some cutscenes by pressing some buttons...

I think the only way a redesigned game can work is if they're done like Halo Anniversary. They should take the old engine and enhance the game graphically (but keep the old graphics as an alternative option for a more authentic experience) and add content in the form of easter eggs and the like. Not actual additions to the AC1 story, but some special insights into the backstory and further bits that help explain things that were never explained before in the series.

Also content like outfits could be added.
