View Full Version : Player Agency is a huge issue I hoped to be fixed with AC3...but wasn't...

I'd love some more control over the PC in the next game!

That said, what does work is:

- Awesome Recreation of Historical Setting
- Lethal ground combat is extremely satisfying. Love the tomahawk.
- Climbing walls is as good as ever

Player agency = how much control you have over the PC.

Agree with most things you listed that should not be limited to the player's ability....except the tree climbing thing as that would take some crazy programming. Did you see all those trees?!

The thing that annoys me most is having to do with the bow and arrow and gun. The gun is loud, so yes it makes sense for guards to detect you if you shoot somebody. But the arrow? REALLY?! That should be a means of silent long range kills!

The bow actually isn't as loud as you think. If you fire it at the right position, they would only check out the dead body.

I agree with most of the things you listed,
My only thing is you can't unequip a weapon without glitching or raising your notority...

I don't think climbing would have been as hard to program if they let you climb a tree with the tomahawk and then had branches stick out for climbing out onto them. Mario 64 had tree climbing :P

Hmmm, something tells me that there's a big difference between the two. Not sure why. /sarcasm

I've used the bow and arrow to pick off guys during main missions where I'm supposed to go undetected. As soon as I kill a guy with it, the failed objective flashes. It's considered loud by the game's standards.

You and I have to compare experience, then. I can pick off anyone from the first Benedict Arnold without sounding the alarms. The same goes for the ships harboring outside of Charlestown.

I've killed guards with the Bow where you can't be detected - They die which alerts other guards , But as long as i'm out of sight , stalking or in hiding spot - i'm Not detected & objective isn't failed.
(This was before 1.02 patch though - haven't replayed any of those missions since - already 100% synced so not needed to)

To the OP: What do you mean the rope dart doesn't work? I use them to hang people and sneak attacks all the time without fail.

DOn't be silly. The point was a half joke, but the other reason it was made is because connor can't even climb up a trunk like Mario can...

What exactly did the Thanksgiving Patch do for AC III other than throw our hood back on?
I just restarted the game to see if any of the glitches were fixed, and they still aren't.

Examples are floating guns, mouths that don't move, and getting stuck running in one spot.

They've fixed a lot of potential mission breakers. I've actually never encountered any floating guns except during one of the early missions.

He's probably no good at go-karting either ........but he's still young he has time to learn these things. :nonchalance:
