I've discovered that FB is a GREAT reference for model builders ( the kit kind, not virtual ). Just today, I climbed into the cockpit of a Bf109E/7 to see what the throttle looked like and what color it was.

I found that the FB disk is also a great coaster for my drinks.

I only kid, my FB disk hasn't left my disk drive since I got the game when it first came out.

You can fire up FB and check what skin you want to paint too/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Or you can build a scale model, then take photos of it and create a skin for it in FB /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

My 14 month old daughter uses IL2 and FB discs as little frisbees and just flings them down the stairs with all her might. Its great fun to watch.

No I will not purchase LOCK-ON. Another week or two and I will delete IL-2 and FB from the hard drive. It will be driving sims only for me.

Ho Hum and I was so enamored with both titles at one time. I may just keep IL-2 and just fly that.

Happy hunting and check six!

nice photos ,
lil advice
use a white fill card to reduce contrast and to bounce some light into the shadows. if you look further u can use it to create a highlight line in a favorable position relative to light source. a black card can draw light away and give a dark line where you want, placed correctly. .....

Dex,

I forgot about that model you made. My eyes are to crappy to work with parts that small. I would pay you to make a P-47 for me. Like the one in my sig. Whatcha think?

If the kit came with stripe decals _maybe_, but I'm not up to the skill level to paint invasion stripes. You'll have to ask me in the fall though as I've stopped modeling for the summer. I've got a WW1 Albatros, a BF109, two Porsche 911s and a Typhoon staring me in the face.... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

If you have a specific model in mind, let me know and I could perhaps get it at Aviation World near me....

Hey Dex, thought you might be able to help me with something, how do you get your decals to adhere well? I attach them with Micro Set and then I sprayed a clear satin coat over it (as they do in all the magazines/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ) but they just went milky and after a few weeks, they flaked off /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

ackackman, did you used a gloss base layer, or a mat one?

It can make a difference.

There again, I have models on display that are over 10 years old, that are as good, or bad, as the day I finished them. And I never used specialist solutions back then (they were around, I just never found them).

I don't think so Painter, it was my first airbrush paintjob so I just sprayed the main color, then the second one and after the decals I sprayed it with a clear coat, hmm.

Dex,

The "No Guts No Glory" P-47 is very popular. I would bet there is a kit somewhere.

Ackackman, once you're done painting, spray Future floor polish on in multiple coats and then put the decals on, then later spray with dullcote spray (a clear aerosol paint). Voila.

Dexmeister,

what scale are you building in? 1:48, if I am allowed an unscientific guess?

I hope they sell Future in Sweden

Tuffcote is pretty good, its two part and can be sprayed on, I used to use it for fuel proofing R/C aircraft the decals looked fine on them with it.
