View Full Version : Aspect Ratio [AKA BLACK BARS] on AC3

11-23-2012, 02:42 AM
Will the game recieve some patch to make it compatible with other aspect ratios different from 16:9?

It's a shame a 2012 game comes like this, with no advanced graphical options, postprocess AA and no compatibility with other aspect ratios different from 16:9.

Hitman Absolution has been released this week and comes with a pannel full of graphical options such as anisotropic, aspect ratio, MSAA, tesellation and even an ingame benchmark. I won't bother to buy this game if the aspect ratio doesn't get solved, game breaking for me.

All of the Assassin's Creed games have been 16:9. They have never changed this, I'm pretty sure they stated why somewhere. Go Look, but if this is a game-breaker then maybe Assassin's Creed games just aren't for you.

I played all other AC on console and no, there is no justification for a PC game not being compatible with multiple aspect ratios, so don't try, please.

The graphics on the pc version are quite amazing, It's still a huge improvement from the console version. I've purchased some extremely bad ports and I'd take some small black bars over a crappy looking port. Assassin's Creed 3 has pretty much the same graphic options as hitman, including DX11 support, higher texture resolution, tessellation, and more. Maybe not everything, but enough to make me happy.

16:10 gets black bars. FIX THIS please! Alot of people own 1680*1050
monnitors, its not that hard to patch either. Could i please get an
official response?

Thanks!

Guess it will be like this, i'll have to live with it, wither 2 fixed it, anybody can find a official response to why this is`?

11-24-2012, 12:47 PM
i would really apriciate some kind of official response, i saw someone say that they had seen one from a dev long time ago, if i remember correctly AC 1 had 16:10 support

Anyway, to fix it temporarly i play in 1600*900 on a 1680*1050 screen, is there any drawvacks of this?

bump, sorry if its against the rules, need an answer for this

Playing at a lower resolution that isn't the same aspect ratio will just stretch (distort) the image. The lower resolution itself will result in an image that isn't as sharp. If it looks fine to you, don't worry about it.

I play at 2560x1600 and the black letterbox bars don't really phase me at all. I didn't even notice they were there until I read it on the forums here.... Then again, a 30" monitor letterboxed is still a larger viewing area than my 24" 16:10 screen without letterboxing. LOL!

I would appreciate full 16:10 support, but I don't think it'll happen.

11-24-2012, 09:31 PM
Why dont you see it happening? Witcher 2 implented it 2 months after realese, it should be standard and i know that it dosn't take that much work to implent.

They should really include this next patch, this should be top 1 for the pc port!!!! 2012 and no 16:10 support, comon ubisoft.

Standard Ubi, annoying but I think the battle for 16:10 is unfortunately being lost.

I will begrudgingly get a 16:9 when i replace my monitor next.

i hope they find a solution, i play in 3 screens 3840x1024, now is letter box format, i loose 1 screen not pleasure. if they don't find a solution, AC is finish for me.
real pleasur with AC, AC2...but in full screen not in letter box

After the patch...A Big deception!!!! no change for 3840x1024 screen.
I would like put the screen capture for the difference!!! but i can't!!! GGGGRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Now AC3 and next are fisnish for me

I've to say that it will never change. I've played every Assassin's Creed game at 1920x1080 and my monitor is 16:10 (1920x1200).
I just get used to it, if you run the game at 1920x1200 reflections are going to be **** because the water starts to reflect the black bar beneath.

BUT in special cases like multi-monitor (very very widther resolutions) this needs to be removed

I have this problem too. I don't see the point in having the choice of 1920x1200 16:10 if I'm not getting that without the letterbox effect. This cannot be so hard to do, I really don't get it. I hope to get this issue addressed.

I love the black bars on my 4:3 monitor! lol

05-25-2013, 05:42 PM
Hey, Ubisoft--why do you offer the choice of 16:10 in-game and not support it? Fix it or remove it.

05-25-2013, 07:37 PM
Stop trying, they dont care, i dont care about the 95% increasing either ;)
