Anyone have a really good comparison of the 1940 Spitfire MK 1 VS Bf 109E? I'm looking for that one that circulated a few weeks (or maybe over a month back now) ago.

When I picked this nickname I never thought that I will stir so much animosity. Now every time I post I have a trail of posters, mostly comming with cheap insults. It seems that I have to tolerate them, and reply in the same manner, since no mod moved a finger to stop this.

Nevertheless, I will continue to post performance comparisons between german and allied war material. Have you read the fuel consumption comparison between major ww2 liquid cooled engines?

Fuel consumption for DB605A (1475PS on B4, 1550PS on C3) is:

- Take-off and Emergency: 480l=126 US gal (2800rpm/1.42ata) 1475PS
- Climb and Combat: 400l=105 US gal (2600rpm/1.3ata) 1310PS
- Max continuous: 320l=84 US gal (2300rpm/1.15ata) 1075PS
- Max cruise: 255l=67 US gal (2100rpm/1.0ata) 890PS

Merlin and Allison data from their SEFC charts:

Allison V-1710-39:

- Emergency: 163 US gal (3000rpm/56"MP) 1470HP
- Military: 132 US gal (3000rpm/45"MP) 1150HP
- Max continuous: 105 US gal (2600rpm/39"MP) 1000HP
- Max cruise: 65 US gal (2280rpm/30"MP) 670HP

Merlin V-1650-3

- Emergency: yet in tests
- Military: 190 US gal (3000rpm/61"MP) 1525HP
- Max continuous: 140 US gal (2700rpm/46"MP) 1145HP
- Max cruise: 68 US gal (2320rpm/36"MP) 860HP

Merlin V-1650-7

- Emergency: 210 US gal (3000rpm/67"MP) 1720HP

DB605A-D with MW50

What are you talking about, Huckebein? I find it interesting that Kurt was the father of the MiG-15. Please stop spamming with meaningless numbers, no sources were used. Bearcat, so sorry.....

I always use primary sources. Those are SEFC charts from pilot's handbook for the allied engines, and german wartime technical evaluations for DB605A.

Do you have better sources?

Huck.....you really need to relax man...... Nobody mentioned you in this thread. What , just because Cajun said trolls...then you show up with the Huckebein fervor doesnt mean he meant you....... ummm Please dont do to this thread what you did to the other one I posted. Out of consideration for you and Issy and other....sensitive souls... I posted links to the 109 & the 190. The purpose of this thread is not to beat up on you, or to rag on your country. We are not your enemies...the war is OVER. I just like the prints and the info is good stuff. I happen to LIKE the German planes..the 190 in particular.

It isnt your name which stirs up so much animosity it's your attitude. "Every time I post I have a trail of posters...." C'mon man.... you havent posted in here yet and on your very first post you more or less say..."Put em uuuup!! Put em uuuuup!!!" Nobody wants to debate you, berate you, castrate you or invalidate you. The only reason people sigh when you enter a thread is because it's always with the same stuff. Why do you always have to post comparisons? Do you realize how confrontational that is? Think about it..... Why not just take a thread for what it is. Create your own thread if you want to beat your chest. It's cool...hey I understand national pride.... but dont you see that others are just as proud as you are and they wont back down either? So....like I said dont ruin my thread..... nothing personal...but you need to consider that maybe you have some issues that go beyond this sim.
