I figured since there weren't any other people on here talking about this that I would post. Last week I played this demo of the game more of a alpha really. The game looks marvelous. The controls for the most part are identical to IL2 so we will still be very at home with the keyboard commands. Only thing I couldnt do was get the hook down on the plan when doing the carrier landing. Tried everything and with brakes almost made it w/o the hook but still ended up rolling off the front of the deck into the big drink. The plane floated realistically and then the carrier ran into my plane and blew me up.

These guys really are to be commended though for thier wonderful attn to detail. When you guys see in motion how wonderful the water looks your are gonna pee yourselves! The game was running on a Nvidia 6800 GT and was fairly smooth. I have no doubt that this will be even more improved when the game is released in another month or so from now. It also seems to be compatible with Direct X or Open Gl which ever you like better depending on if you are Nvida or Ati nut.

The ground textures also seem improved some, but they havent gone crazy making it so that its a big hit on performance, Ah La Lock On. The carrier landings are very cool though. The wooden planks, the multiple arrest wires. Should be a game worth waiting for. Now I know what I am going to do with my copies of Combat flight sim 2 and 3. Trade em for 5 bucks at the good ol Electronics Boutique because it was obvious after this weekend, Microsoft knows Flight sim 200x, but they havent a clue to combat flight sims. Go PACIFIC FIGHTERS!!!!!

Crashing online as :FI:SpinyNorman

Normally Spiny Norman was wont to be about
twelve feet from snout to tail, but when Dinsdale was depressed Norman could be
anything up to eight hundred yards long.

Very Glad to hear that, just up my anticipation even more, as if I wasn't excited enough already. MAN I CAN'T WAIT FOR PF TO COME OUT. I really wanna try out the Corsair's and Hellcat's then fly the La geeks and kick their butt online, lol. Carriers are very kewl too.
It's worth the money. Cheers to Oleg and the team, great work.

If there is anything else you guys would like to know just feel free to ask me. I also forgot to mention, in the listing of sides, like Russia, Usa, Germany, etc., there were a lot of those and many more to choose from so what I am getting is that I think that there are going to be a lot of different aircaft to choose from. And also they have updaed the sun textures too so when the camera goes by the glare it looks even more realistic and the lighting of the water.

please please please tell me about the seafires!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/cry.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/cry.gif is the british carriors good?

During the Battle of Britian, Adolf Hitler asked Hermann Goering "What do you need to defeat the British?" to which Goering Replied "A squadron of Spitfires"

The pc was running a AMD processor 3200+ i think and the video card was a 6800 GT. From what I understand that this build though was nothing in comparison. The final version is going to be awesome. Also the final version is supposed to be done in about the next few weeks it should be gold. YEY!

Oh and BTW, with your sig I always thought that it was Adolf Galland who told Georing that he needed a squadron of Spitfires.... Can anyone put me right on this ?

Yes, you are correct. From "The First and Last" by Adolph Galland the exchange went like this: To Molders, "He (Goring) asked what were the requirements for our squadrons. Molders asked for a series of ME-109's with more powerful engines. The request was granted. And you?Goring turned to me. I did not hesitate long. I should like an outfit of Spitfires for my squadron...." "Such brazen-faced impudence made even Goring speechless. He stamped off, growling as he went." It was an off the cuff remark and Galland said he really didn't mean it that way. Fundamentally he preferred the ME-109 to the Spitfires.

thanks for clearing that one up http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

To another Spitfire/Me10p question, I read years ago that the British tested a 109 with a Merlin Engine, and apparantly some of the Spanish versions had the Merlin installed (and were apparantly in operation into the 70's. Does anyone have any info on the performance variance with the German engines ?

Yes but you should also mention why Galland did it. G¶ring gave them total idotic orders, and the Spit would be simply better to use for this idio.. kind to fly! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

He gave the order to cover the bomber in a real close way nearly to fly side by side. So Galland and the other pilots where not able to use the advantages of the 109 anymore- A Spitfire in this situation would be much better, but even Spitfirepilots would not do this if they would care of their lifes! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
