in coop missions, yes

Dogfight servers , latest infos are saying no , that means only static carriers there

How about Carrier Vs. Land Base battles, too.

Carrier team has to knock out all land based fuel and ammo stores and Communications.

Land based team has to protect base - find carrier and destroy it.

That part about carrier attacking island just hit me...need amphibious assault too, or some way to sim naval assault on island. I guess we could just have shelling of island with island shelling back (like Wake island). Problem is the time period to sim this requires re~arm and re~fuel and all day missions with multiple missions (language confusion here resulting from each FMB runtime restricted to one mission due to lack of re~arm and re~fuel).

It's true that to really simulate Pacific battles you need naval action, and this includes amphibious assault. To re-hash old ground, I don't think just vehicles gets it. To really understand/simulate an amphibious assault or land battle from the air-to-ground operational perspective, I think it really requires the presence of thousands of troops over a wide area. This would truly make things interesting, but not only is it "unacceptable" from the point of view of violence ratings, it would be pretty computationally expensive. Maybe just the addition of LCVPs to the object list would be sufficient? They already have amtracks in the game, why not just add LSTs, LCIs, and a bunch of LCVPs?!! You could really create quite an invasion scenerio with those things heading to the beach. Once they stop, maybe even a ramp comes down, or bow doors open up. The opposing side's arty will be going hog wild in the mean time, and it would be the virtual pilot's responsibility to silence those guns before X amount of landing craft are destroyed.

I belive that that much can be done with the current engine and Objects planned for PF.

The good thing would be to have a vehicle that could move on water and land. So we could have DUK´s or those amfivius personel transports (can´t recall their names) move up to in land objectives.
Now all we need are some amfivius Tanks to escort the advancing troops http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.
