Hi All,

I was wondering if someone could advise if "Cheating has been detected" is due to server overload or client connection losing packets.

I was reading Why I will not fly online anymore (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=816105316) thread and thought about my current server and why the message appears.

I did some research on my own machine using a network logger and finally got my upload data stream comfortably below my maximum for the number of planes on the server. As well as throttling the bandwidth to further stop increased uploading.

Basically, is warp initiated by lost packets to the server only. Or.

Lost packets from the server. Or

Both.

Cheers all,

All the above. Se my Users Guide for more information on the subject as well as things to do to prevent the problem.

Now with an actual index & more fiber! It is newer & and even more improved! It's Luckyboy's Guide For Complete Users!...

Thanks LuckyBoy,

I've gone down your very extensive but well worth the read fiberous guide and done all I can.

I think it's a "how longs a piece of string" scenario with too many links in the chain.

I've never had any connection issues on your server BBloke, as I fly there often. Your settings seem to be a good balance between detecting cheats and kicking because of actual connection/hardware issues.

Take BadRambo's server, all the flak causes me to occasionally have freezes during the heavy flak, dogfighting, clouds, smoke, fire going on at the same time and have gotten auto-kicked last two times out, after three messages due to short freezes, over an hour or so.

Only under the heaviest conditions or the *ahem* certain habits of screenshootists and SpeedGearaholics during dogfights, do I get freezes due to my 512MB ram and GF2 GTS graphics, (yes, still...sigh).

Most servers are smooth and fluid for me, however, once the herky-jerkys start during the dogfights, time for a new server. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/smileys-gun2.gif

Hello there BbBloke. This is something to try. If you go into the i18N file in the main IL2:FB directory, in the netmessages.properties file change the user_cheating1,2,3 lines to:

user_cheating1 {0} is lagging
user_cheating2 {0} is really lagging
user_cheating3 {0} is really, really lagging

Now you will know who is really lagging in your server.

Thanks SlickStick,

It's always nice to know others enjoy the server as much as I do. Too much sometimes, I struggle to get in my own game.

I'm glad you only get minimal amount of trouble. I used to have the same gfx card and it did the job wonderfully until it blew ;(

Thanks Swiss for the netmessage changes, I'll get them sorted out for this evening and see what happens.

Cheers,
