Does anyone one know why in the Aces expansion pack it has a pacific map and Japenese planes but no American planes from that theatre of war such as the Vough F4-U4 Corsair or Hellcat

All the planes in the sim have some connection to the Soviet air-war. US and Soviets planes met from time to time in Europe. But AFAIK, US planes and Soviet planes did not meet in Asia, even though they both fought the same enemy.

And besides, it's widely believed that there is a Pacific Sim in the makings.

There is a F4U Corsair in the works and as SkyChimp puts it, its widely believed that there is a PTO addon pack being developed. Its all under wraps right now...that I'm sure will change sooner than later.

In George Loving's Book, "Woodbine Red Leader", he describes his wartime experiences flying first Spitfires, and then P-51s, for the USAAC, in the Mediterranean Theatre.

In his book, he recounts his flight to the Soviet Union in his P-51, along with his squad. They spent around a week there and conducted ops. It was a 'secret' airbase that was difficult in the extreme to find. Loving claims it was luck he found it, but I think he's being modest.

There is a very interesting photo of his Soviet ID chit, apparently meant to be shown to Soviet locals if he were shot down, so they wouldn't think him a German. It also has several Russian-to-English phrases for basic communication

I thought the reason we had Japanese planes was three-fold:
1) there were no Japanese planes at all
2) The work submitted to Oleg was so good, why not use it?
3)P-47s, P-40s, P-39s, P-51s, and I beleive Spits and Hurricanes all historically fought against some of the Japanese aircraft we have in FB. B-17s and C-47s were used in the PTO as well.

Don't forget that the US Navy wasn't alone in the Pacific, the Marines and US Army Air Corps were there, too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
