From the good reviews I've read off some of you Track IR users I am thinking of getting one when my next paycheck comes in. Have seen a Track IR 2 in the UK for 69.95 which doesnt seem to bad to me but with the Track IR3 out I'm a bit confused as to which to get. From the Track IR website the Track IR2 gives 100FPS but with a 60K resolution, whereas Track IR 3 has lower 80 fps but higher 101K resolution. I don't know which of these is the most important factor so I'm at bit confused as to which is the better of the two. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks all in advance.

I have a trackir2, which is great. I have no experience with tir3. I'm certainly not going to upgrade since my tir2 is absolutely great. I just don't feel the need.

I would go for a TIR3 because of the higher resolution, 80 FPS is still quite high.

I went from a TIR1 to a TIR3pro and I can definitely tell the difference in resolution. Panning with the TIR1 had a somewhat stuttery effect and was really noticable when panning diagonally (looked like stair steps). In-game, the effect makes you feel like the fps you are getting is lower than it should be.

Note that if your machine is not pushing very high fps, you probably wouldn't notice any in-game difference between TIR and TIR3 pro. LOMAC is a good example where this was true for me. With FB, I can definitely tell the difference. I get great FPS with this machine with FB but only average about 30 fps with LOMAC with the settings I use.

I think the TIR3pro might be overkill but since I don't plan on upgrading it for at least 3-4 years (about as long as I've had my TIR1) I figure there is a better chance it will keep up with any other upgrades I do from here till then.

I have the Tir2 and it works great,no problems .
I have seen on other posts here that some have
traded up to TIR3 and foud the only discernable
difference is that they can now sit 2mtrs from
the screen? and they need less dots .Find a post by TOAD and click on his links. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

Had version 2 about a month. Works great (partly thanks to advice from people here http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif e.g. T_O_A_D and others) and has no noticeable problems, although I haven't tried a 1 or a 3 to compare. Wouldn't want to be without it now.
I paid the same price you mention and would be happy to do the same again.

i think edimensional.co.uk has the standard for only 63.95 which is probably better than the trackir2 by a bit, or you can go for the pro if you have a few extra .

I ordered mine over 3 weeks ago and feel like a kid on x-mas eve.

to the original poster, it sounds like the 2 is pretty good, I wish I would've held out and bought one on e-bay for cheap instead of ordering the pro3 from Natural Point.

I'm waiting 1 more week and I'll cancel if I don't receive it.

I ordered mine May 26, but the very next day got this E-Mail

Hello Everyone,

I am writing this letter to inform all users that are waiting on
orders,
that we have experienced an unexpected delay from our PCB
manufacturer.
Because of this, all orders in the system have had their ship
dates
pushed back by at least 2 weeks.

As the manufacturer gets back into a steady channel of shipping,
we will
be able to start shipping as well and we will be going down the
list in
numerical order.

Please bear with us as we work through this issue. I apologize
for the
inconvenience however, there is nothing we can do about this as
it is
out of our hands at the moment.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me
at the
number below.

Roger That,

Got the same email as you from NAtural point... Gonna give them a few more days then going to cancel my order and get a new TIR2 on the web somewhere.

Also anyone else notice that they charged your CCard already? WTF is up with that. Vendors dont usually charge your account till they ship.

I can tell you with all sincerity that I cannot tell the difference between the TIR2 and the TIR3 Pro.

I noticed a slight and I mean slight difference when I really sat down and thought about it.

During IL2 game play not a chance. Now with that said that may change as Frame Rates increase over time as I get faster video and CPUs.

The extra resolution does nothing IMO. The refresh speed does make a difference.

There are two TrackIR3's. They both have the increased resolution over the TrackIR2 but it is their refresh rates that distinguish them:

PC camera : 30Hz
TrackIR1 : 60Hz
TrackIR2 : 100Hz
TrackIR3 : 80Hz
TrackIR3 PRO: 120Hz

Phew, ordered my TIR3Pro on the 17th of May and got it in 3 days! In light of the email you guys received, I am glad I didn't wait another week. I still have yet to find time to tweak my settings though, as I have been frantically trying to revise a research paper submission before I head out on vacation. Hopefully, when I get back, I can spend some time with it.

Going back to the thread topic, I believe TIR2 or 3 would suffice because they don't appear to have to much "real world" difference. I chose to go with the 3Pro strictly because I received enough B-Day cash to afford it! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Either way, I don't think you could go wrong.

When I ordered mine they hit my CC with the charge, but it was just a hold which was released the next day. I had my TIR2 in my hands before they actually charged my card.

Good news I pushed the boat out a bit mkore and got the one off ebay so should be here in a few days then, can't wait.

LittleMadZ I don't have one yet but I remember stumbling over somthing on the TrackIR website which says that there is a problem with the TrackIR and the new 6o'clock command, I'll try and find the link for it. Guys in here will probably be able to say more.
