"...Always look for the enemy! Most shot-down pilots never saw what hit them. Whether you´re by yourself or with a hundred others, never stop looking around!..."

...taken directly from that little book that comes with your IL2/FB copy /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

For those new to the "sonar issue" the situation in FB right now is like that:

"...Most pilots know what is trying to surprise-attack them because they can hear planes approaching them from 500+ metres..."

I tend to believe the IL2/FB manual. The above mentioned sentence is only another proof that suprise-attack kills were the most frequent kills in WWII period and that the same element of surprise, that is missing from FB right now was the key to succesful fighting back then...

I fly full real only and my wish for the patch 1.2 is to get this right.

Thank you

Bump on this one. I already fly with crippled cockpit, broken damage model vs. the over-killer-monster-yaks. I'd be happy if they ad least would remove the sound sonar EWR..

Nothing more disgusting than surprise your enemy, get nearer and 600 metres away he does a loop and starts outturning you....
that's awful...

P.S. this is no whin to tone down soviet-mega-planes.

...well if your attack is well planned you don´t have to turn with the prey...you just rumble on and kiss the poor target bye bye to dissappear in the blue and try your luck next time hopefully on some sonar-less enemy (there are still some 5% of them flying around so keep trying http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif....but it is certainly more realistic to kiss a falling wreck bye bye if its pilot was so reckless to let you take him by surprise and get within his sonar range http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

One thing I've noticed now with the "Sonar" issue. It's easier to sneak up on groups of more than one plane now than loners. The group of planes are too busy hearing each other's engines to notice your approach. So I guess it's safety, not in numbers. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
