I just got the Logitech MX Duo. Can't seem to do fine aiming when sniping. Very dissapointing, great for everything else though. Running XP and have already downloaded update 9.something or another from support site. New PC with plenty of good hardware and room to run game. Have tried slowing down cursor movement, no joy.

When you say: "fine aiming" is it because the mouse pointer is moving too fast or is it unstable/hanging?
Which mouse pad do you use?

Unstable/Hanging is a close enough. I'll be on max zoom and the reticle wont lay smoothly on target. More like it will jump from one side of target to the other. I have tried everything to get a good sight picture but usually takes 15-20 seconds to aquire my target. I'm talking about extremely long shots here. I slowed curser speed down to 1/4 and it seems when I play that it there is no change in speed. I'm using a regular cloth covered neoprene pad in black

Try this:

place a piece of printpaper on your mousepad and see if that improves the aiming.

If it does, consider a good mousepad for Christmas.
There are different mousepads - very popular with gamers - made of either glass or steel.

I switched to Microsoft Explorer 3.0 mouse and a "Black Icemat" mousepad (glass) as I had same problems as you have.

To bggyby406,

To add to GH advice start the game and click options/input and down the bottom left is "Mouse Sensitivity". Adjust this to read 0.5 and this will more than likely solve this problem. Having said that the lower this number the more stability your aim has and can be fined tuned for a real tight head shot if you can hardly see someone and it counts as a kill.

The greater this number means you can spin faster and the mouse movement is quicker but you lose accuracy and when you stop on a target it jumps either side of it. I have mine set 0.3-0.5 and the speed in which I can turn and pop someone is fine but I maintain a fine control.

It's a question of friction. May well be another type of standard mousepad works fine. One of my friends doesn't use a mousepad at all but simply his (wooden) desk.

Gamers want the mouse to move fast whereas someone who needs to highlight part of a text, prefers a slower moving mouse, "hanging" if you want. The small pads on the bottom of a mouse have to cover both types of movement and even though this works fine on the whole, some special demands just cannot be fulfilled.

(aluminium pads, restricted to some mouse versions e.g. of the Logitech series only the MX version works with this pad)

Should've thought of that, thanks. No problem now. Use the pad for surfin', desk for shootin'
