WTH, I dont mind if they show non-intrusive ADs for their own games, But this? Maybe its just a random bug (not necessary on Ubi's part, can be their AD provider messed things), I didnt see this myself so far.

Probably this is because they are fast losing money due to not listening to their customers. So they're going to do some more talking on behalf of some other companies in the hope of making some back.

This banner should indeed not have shown in Uplay PC. It's nothing but a placeholder ad from our banner management tool (and probably not something you would be interested in anyway! ;) ). I've forwarded the picture you submitted to the appropriate team.

Banners in Uplay PC will only ever show our own content (new game releases, new content, discounts, etc.), and no third party ads.

I just received feedback that this was fixed and that you should not see it again. Let us know if it is otherwise.

Indeed the issue persists. I'm showing the same exact ad as Syeef over here.

Anyone else notice this? For now all I'm seeing is a single ad banner at the bottom for something called ADTECH.

It appears like this AD is only shown when Uplay is in "steam mode". I dont get only one thing, why placeholder banner looks like a real one and leads to existing site

How convenient that a bug or glitch has shown a third party ad which then gets hits and makes Ubisoft revenue.

You really think they'd have a priority on fixing this?

I can verify that the same happens with the steam version of ACB and POP:TFS

He he. Exactly. And that's why we're displaying an ad for a banner management tool which will surely get us THOUSANDS of clicks, rather than amazing gaming gear or similar. :D

Anyways, it should be fixed again now. Let us know if this banner pops up again

Ads have resurfaced for me, and not for the steam version of a game. (I got the game from Ubishop).

picture hosting (http://postimage.org/)

It's for a non ubisoft game and it's an fps (i hate fps games). it directs to an actual webshop.

Nadeo is a Ubisoft company since october 2009 ;-)

TheLeoCrow
09-09-2012, 04:25 PM
it's still a different company, even if it's owned by ubisoft. ubisoft may own stocks from all sorts of companies, will we get ads for all of them?

Korchaa

I understand why you say so, seeing how Nadeo started as an independant studio and has a strong creative personality, but it's now an internal Ubisoft studio. So Shootmania is very much a Ubisoft game and even our flagship title for e-sports, as featured during the Ubisoft media briefing at E3 this year.

However, we could also show content for, let's say, Call of Juarez (as we've just announced Call of Juarez: Gunslinger a few days ago), a game that is developed by Techland, an independant studio, and fully published by Ubisoft.

As as said earlier in the thread following the confusion with the "Adtech" banner, the important point regarding these promotional slots is that they are meant to display our own content only, as we do on our own websites already, and are absolutely not a place rented for others to display ads for products that are not our own.

What about AdTech? How does that work, i'd like to have a more detailed disclosure on that. Adtech is a user tracking advertising company, what kind of data are you sharing with AdTech?

You just Necro'd a year and a half old thread judeuzinho

I can confirm that the Adtech ads are showing again. Got one immediately after exiting Might and Magic X, I'll get a picture next time

Hello SwPro,

Thanks for letting us know what you saw. As was mentioned before, that banner shouldn't display. However, if there is an issue with the adverts that are supposed to display, the banner can sometimes default to the Adtech banner.

I tried reproducing the issue, but the adverts are displaying as intended for me (I saw one for Assassin's Creed, one for Watch_Dogs and one for Rayman while testing). Is the issue ongoing for you, or are the banners displaying correctly for you now?

I get the advert "ADTECH - THE WORLD OF MARKETING TECHNOLOGIES" popping up when I close the game Anno 2070. I bought the game from Steam.

Why are we as paying customers seeing these adverts advertising nothing else other than Adtech products, and where in the agreement did we as customers agree for you, or Adtech, to do this? I don't believe you are looking into the problem at all, but I do believe you will try to solve it when someone takes the matter further.

I got this banner when exiting Far Cry 3. It's a Steam-purchased game.

This sort of thing is why I avoided Ubisoft games in the past, and why I will do in future. I just don't trust the company.
