I think if u really like planes, don't hasitate and get yourself this game. If you however don't like too much buttons,& other bunch of controlls, then concentrate on one fighter plane. It shouldn't be too much work to do. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Get it. You won't regret it. It's hard to learn because its so real, but once you do you will really love it and play it all the time.

The good thing about this game is the learning curve. You can get off and start flying while only knowning the basics and with a few keys, but you can go so in-dept with the flight physics. I think even the "aces" around here still learn every day. Get it. You'll love it. Be sure to get the gold pack tho http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

S! Happy flying

From what youve said I think maybe you would be better off with Secret Weapons over Normandy, this has an arcade game feel to it where as IL2 FB is far more a sim.

Gte yourself a Joystick though . No flight game is possible with out one. A good cheap stick is the Saitek cyborg evo.

SWON is pure ****. stay away from it. personally i use a microsoft sidewinder force feedback 2 and i like it. unfortunately it's out of production, but i've heard you can still find them and cheap too, since they're discontinued. i use a microsoft sidewinder gamevoice for all my keyboard commands. the profile is 5 pages long. i never need to touch anything except the joystick. unfortunately it is also out of production. there are other voice command options, though. it is much easier than remembering all those keys. i just say, "flaps down" and down they go. i say, "dirty" and flaps go full down, airbrake extends, and landing gear comes down. it's much easier, and i recommend it. i don't think there is a demo for forgotten battles so you're playing the demo for the original il-2. we've come so far since then. we now have lots of american planes as well as many of the experimental/late war german aircraft. you wanna get il-2 forgotten battles gold pack. it comes with the aces expansion pack. then you'll just need the latest patch and you'll be all caught up. this is by far the best ww2 flight sim, and if you like aircraft from that era this is the only way to go. i fly for hours everyday, and rarely pull the trigger. i just like flying patterns and flying formation with the ai. the ntrk files play in your track player in il-2. don't know if the demo has this. just put the file in "c:\program files\ubi soft\il-2 sturmovik forgotten battles\records" folder. then goto "play track" on the main menu look for your file name and select play track. and finally, the keyboard doesn't let you see how it is to fly with a joystick. i don't think the controls center themselves after you hit the arrow keys, and that will cause the climbing and turning you describe. either that or you're at full power which will cause the aircraft to climb. good luck.

Any cheap joystick will do to start with (make sure that it has a slider for your throttle). As you get more into the game, you can get a more complex joystick as you need one.
NTRK is only in the purchase game so that you can replay tracks of your flights for fun and profit.

I mentioned in my previous post that the Saitek cyborg evo is a good cheap joystick.

SWON to you and me maybe be pure s**t, howvever some may just want to fly about and shoot things down in an arcade kind of way. This person already stated that they didnt want a game were th eplanes were hard to fly , so I presumed that IL2 may be just a little to deep for them.

Roadkill - you should get Forgotten Battles.

Get a joystick - whatever you can afford is good because it is your first one and you might not like this sim. You NEED a 'stick to fly this sim! Just get whatever is available near you.
Aces Expansion Pack or AEP is an add-on CD for Forgotten Battles - you dont need it to fly off-line so its best to get it after you feel like you want to fly this sim... Why buy it if you dont like FB??

Pick one plane from the list and learn to fly it right.. ask questions here if you are having trouble with it, dont just switch to another plane.

Trim is used to keep a plane flying level and straight. At a given speed, for instance, your plane may want to nose down and you will need to trim it to keep the nose level without having to apply constant pressure on the stick. As your speed increases in this example, the nose may want to start rising and again, you trim it to keep the nose level. The same applies for the rudder and airelons.

One of the reasons you are stalling I would have to think is that you don't have a stick. Definately get some type of stick for any flight sim you would want to play. If you don't want to get rudder pedals, your stick should also have a twist function for rudder control. It will give you better control. Also note that planes have different flight characteristics and some will climb and/or turn quicker than others.

I can't shoot $hit without joystick (my old genius F-31D). Get yourself a Saitek X45. It's expensive but lotta guys says it's the best stick for the game. Good luck and try the game and you surely wont regret it, Just don't get yourself hooked up on it like most of us did http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

Theis game is surely on my list of top five games EVER (any genres-couldn' remember however their number 'cause in my youth times I've plaed hundreds of them--I howevevr recall I few tgame titles, I used to play BLUE MAX, SCRAMBLE, Yie-Ar-Kung Fu & others tons of arcadish games on Commodore 64. Not to mention AMIGA's Pirates (GOLD), Wings, Sensible World Of Soccer (thing like this they did not yet do on PC---that's brilliant football-manager---)...
