I hate Florence.....

Out of all of the maps I have played in AC multiplayer, I hate Florence the most. So much stupidity occurs in that map that it just makes my blood boil. A recent game of AC:R made me think hard about good and bad map designs and thinking about what makes a map balanced enough to be allowed in AC3. When everyone thinks of a good map, they think of Siena, but the map itself has become a stereotype, just as Florence has become (in my eyes) a stereotype. Knights Hospital and Venice are both really good examples of balanced maps, so I would like to see more maps such as those in AC3...

...does anyone else have horrible experiences in Florence?

I don't really like the Deathmatch layout for most of the ACB maps, and it seems someone at Ubisoft took "We don't like Alhambra" to mean "Give them loads of HUGE, ROOFY maps!"

Hence, Galata was born.

A few of the maps seem really dependent on the game mode for balanced play. While you say Knights Hospital is balanced I find it to be roofy garbage. But I stick to artifact assault and maybe you play manhunt, wanted, deathmatch, etc so your experience with the map is completely different(I've found in mh its quite good). While I can't speak for the Mediterranean Map Pack DLC (since it was an awful waste of money shame on anyone that purchased it) I find the more wide open areas the most playable. As I've stated before they should really make some maps and abilities restricted to certain game modes. While the gun is annoying it's slightly more tolerable in modes like man hunt or escort, but ruins game play in artifact assault(everyone camps because they hate being shot and no one crosses). It's sad that no one from Ubisoft seems to have good forethought to figuring out how map layout, ability choices, and scoring structure can greatly diminish or enhance the game play for each mode. I wouldn't blame the Florence map. I've had countless enjoyable games in it on brotherhood. It's just that some modes are better structured with it than others.

A lot of players do stick to the roofs in Knights Hospital on AA. But I've had the best results sticking to my paths that don't include a lot of roofing.

That origin story made me chuckle a bit :D

But you are not the only one that doesn't like Florence... You feel a sense of helplessness when you're on the ground...

Alhambra is my least favourite map where I've had enough playtime to form a proper opinion.

Almost any 1/3 sized section of Alhambra would have been my favourite map if they actually made that as a map.

Mode definitely is a factor. Knight's Hospital is completely unbearable to me in any game mode other than Deathmatch.

Michel, however, is terrible no matter what mode you're playing.

Knight's Hospital is **** fun in AA and not too bad in Manhunt or CC. In Wanted, it is horrid and wretched and the pit of hell. In DM, it has a nice balance.

Personally, I think my favorite maps are Sienna, Souk, San Donato and Antioch. They all work well with a stealth ground approach, and also have a few spots to get in Acros or Aerial kills. None of them are too large. And they have diverse areas within each map.

Ii hate galata, knights hospital and alhambra they are too big and too roofy obviously it depends on the mode you play but generally i think the roof heavy and maps that are too large are unpopular

It is all dependent on the mode you play. I play Wanted, generally speaking, I do well enough in Venice, dont really know why.

MSM in ACB Wanted is great.

ACR, it's awful. But that's partly because ACR is awful. And Manhunt and Alliance on that map are completely broken. Especially Manhunt. And any other mode is bearable or worse.

I think mode does not matter in AC:R, all of it is horrible.

I do not like Mont St. Michel. Seriously. That map pisses me off.

Alhambra and Florence are annoying yeah, but I find Monteriggioni (for Wanted) worse. Everyone's on the roof in these maps. Everyone.

Knight's hospital and Galata are absolute hell for wanted, but great for AA and DM... The best map, I think is Rome. Considering all modes. I think the DM map is perfect, getting an acro for variety isn't too hard (unlike souk), and it's not too roofy or anything.

You bought the DLC? Was it worth it? I was considering buying it, but in the trial version it was always on low activity... :/

Complaints about Florence? That's a first. :nonchalance: While DM in Florence is rather cramped, it's OK to me. I wish only the spawn killers wouldn't abuse, but really, it's fine, and in other modes, it's awesome, like it always has been.
All ACR maps sucks, that's a fact. Throw in Alhambra and MSM to that nasty bag. Not sure why Ubi's big fish in development take our words and turn them around 180 degrees and think they will satisfy the majority.

I think the amount of new maps in ACR was disappointing. With ACB you get ten free maps, but in ACR you only get nine free maps and only five of them were actually new. Out of those five new maps there's only one that I'd actually be happy to see return and that's Souk (surprise, surprise). In ACB there were a lot more solid, balanced and varied maps (Rome, Castel Gandolfo, Venice, Siena and San Donato) and I don't feel they really achieved this with the ACR maps. I think Souk did though and maybe Ippokratous, but I just don't like Ippokratous that much :P

And I really don't mind MSM. The huge church in the middle and the roofers are annoying though.
