View Full Version : What is the best game too prepare for AC III?

I personally think AC1. They are really taking a big AC1 approach, which I like *Love the first game*
Too try too simulate the difficulty, doing hidden blade only, no throw-assassinate.
Also getting a feel of how the health system would work, and the tones of the story.
What about you guys?

Yeah. It's obvious. The ancestors. Stealth. Desmond is a very special boy just like Sly. And Ac1 is good to prepare.

AC1 is still fun.
Some games we will remember years from now, AC1 is one of them.
Just hope AC III achieves a status like it.

AC1 had the best combat. I tried playing it today but just couldn't get into it.

I played it so much it would be impossible for me not too be able too just jump into it right of the bat.
Throw + Assassinate is the key too everything.

Story-wise ACR I'd say, just to have what's been going on fresh in your mind. As for gameplay-wise I have no idea since they've clearly changed the gameplay quite a bit and though I don't suspect it being hard to get used to it, I doubt playing any previous AC game would help much.

I forget if i read it somewhere or if it was in one of the newer ionterviews (may have even been Esco's latest podcast), but i'm positive they said that if you was a veteran to the series you would very likely be able to just jump right in without too many problems.

The only obvious problems that i can personally see would be getting used to the new controls, but i guess they may have meant combat behavior and timing wise perhaps. Maybe even counting on the idea that veterans to the series have got used to watching the enemies movements to know when they was about to attack.

Just don't burn urself out, as I did for Mass Effect. Replayed the first two to get in mood for the third, but when it arrived I had put like what 60h+ into 1 and 2 (for the second time) and didn't feel like playing any more Mass Effect for a long time :D (it's a really great series though).

WoW is a dead game, it's a zombie which just sits down on a bench by its grave, with a guy on the other end holding a stick with meat on the end trying to bait the zombie so it falls in the grave. but it won't budge and so it'll just slowly rot away until someone finally shoots it in the face with a shotgun and burns its remains.

anyway, carry on

haha but AC's don't take that long to play so I don't think I'm going to be burning myself out as much as you would of for Mass Effect :p

And stop with listing other games, the joke's old and annoying now. Why does nearly every legit thread have to be derailed then every stupid thread actually had discussion in it?

HaSoOoN-MHD

Yeah, I dont want too do a In Before Lock on my own thread /:
And I am gonna replay AC1, AC II, AC:B and AC:R in one week, non stop, no sleep in the week AC III releases.

I'm not going to play any AC game before AC3 release, I want AC3 to feel as fresh and new as possible. Even though AC3 itself is a fresh and new AC experience, it still have elements from previous AC games, so I'm not going play any AC game until AC3 release to build up more excitement. I already beat ACR 4 times, ACB 7 times, AC2 7 times, and AC1 3 times.

Before the release of each AC game (with the exception of AC1), I always have a full playthrough of AC1 trying to complete all side missions. Love that game. This time it would definitely be fitting to revisit the beginning before we get to playthrough the ending of Desmonds story.

Flags, Templars, Investigation missions without the HUD would also what I would be refering to..

HaSoOoN-MHD
07-07-2012, 02:20 AM
Flags should go burn in a fire then the ash should be burned again. I hate those things. But they still are collectibles, not side missions ;p
Templars fall under collectibles, collectibles that fight tho...

jzsnyder
07-07-2012, 08:18 AM
Was there ever any reward for collecting all the flags? My friend told me you get the crossbow seen in the trailer. I don't trust my friend for anything anymore.

HaSoOoN-MHD

There is no crossbow in the game. If there was, I would have been the first too collect those flags. Only reward is the achievement or trophy.

jzsnyder
07-07-2012, 08:54 AM
Yeah, I was just curious because there was a reward for flag collection in AC2, I believe (The Auditore Cape).

HaSoOoN-MHD

Dunno why. I was bored I guess.

jzsnyder

While we're discussing collectables, I thought brotherhood presented the most incentive to collect everything and complete each mission carefully.

Earning 100% sync was one of the best moments of my Assassin's Creed career.

That tank mission was horribly difficult to achieve 100% sync in, so you're not missing out on much really.

I ended up having to use a well-known exploit to get past it. (http://youtu.be/qu__mXI4IDY?t=9m8s)

I remember wanting to break my disc whenever I failed that mission... Glad I didn't.

It was worth it, though. I smile every time I see that my character has 100% sync in the profile select screen on the main menu.

And we're doing the double-thread-reply-chat thing again...

HaSoOoN-MHD
07-07-2012, 07:53 PM
If that dont work, use more thread.
Anyways: You know Ubi did well when the closest game you can prepare with is very different than AC III.

I'm so glad Ubisoft picked the settings that they did for the games. At first I'm always like : HOW DIS GONE WORK. But after my perpetual fear of guns in Assassins Creed games was soothed, I became a believer.

But of course! Anyway, what really made 100% sync an option were the cheats...

EDIT: Weird, same-time reply there. And in regard to your statement, Hasoon, Yeah, I think it's weird, too. It is definitely the far-thest away from AC3 in setting, that's for sure. But the gameplay is similar.

jzsnyder

I think the best part of AC1, in comparison to the other games, is its ability to discourage engaging in a fight/battle. You could really get your blade handed to ya in a battle with only a few guards. Also, this led to some pretty awesome chase sequences that the other games lacked. This is a feature I look forward to seeing in AC3.

HaSoOoN-MHD
07-07-2012, 09:01 PM
AC1 had very big battles, I once ran into 2 guards, killed them, 36 guards followed.
Complete 360 as in they a complete turn, from East too West.

And it was scary, sometimes! Switching to the chase cam and seeing 50 guards chasing behind you is one of the biggest "Oh Sh**" moments in the series.

I really dont know why the following games did not have that. Or maybe because when I kill the guards I go on sit on a bench. Lol.
