Forgotten Battles is one of those games that has so many options and possibilities that you occasionally have some really humorous moments or things that just strike you in the right way that just make you laugh.

About a month back on the FAST server there was a pitched dogfight going on above the target town. Several Blue bombers and fighters were attacking the area and the Red's were trying desperately to keep the bombers off their targets. During the melee I ended up with a Yak-3 stuck on my FW190A-8's six and I didn't have enough energy to try and escape so we went into a scissors manuver...the Yak-3 just barely was able to keep with me through these manuvers...meanwhile I had started requesting assistance and for someone to clear my tail. This is where the humour came in...to my surprise instead of a nimble fighter dropping in behind the Yak-3 one of the Blue team's bombers...a He-111 and its massive airframe (in comparison) dropped in-behind the Yak-3. The shape of the He-111 swooping into place in behind the Yak-3 and the accompanying gunfire was hilarious at the time. The Yak-3 pilot was so shaken by what had just cleared my tail that he broke off and headed for home.

A hilarious moment in the eyes of this pilot. Feel free to share such odd or funny moments with the boards.

Its not too often that we tell stories of what we've done online or offline. Lets share more stories...

Thats a good one. LOL.

Best I saw was in a server long ago where two guys in TB3's were going at it while everyone else just battled it out.

Had a laugh.

This is way, way offline, but it is funny. Wednesday morning 3 streakers ran into a Denny's restaurant (Washington state). Patrons said the young men paraded around naked inside wearing shoes and hats. The streakers thought ahead before they stripped and left a getaway car with their clothes inside, running just outside. Someone in the restaurant saw the car running, bolted out the door and stole it. When the three streakers went outside and realized what had happened they tried to hide in a nearby car lot huddling together between cars. They waited naked in the crisp morning air until officers showed up and gave them blankets. Police could have charged them with indecent exposure, but officers decided they learned their lesson.

ROFL.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The TB3 and He111 attack are pretty funny. But the streaker story is REALLY funny.
Reminds me of the story of the guy who tried to syphon gas out of a parked RV in Seattle. When police got there the perp was lying in a pool of his own vomit, doubled over in pain. Turns out he mistakingly chose the septic tank on the RV and tried to syphon out of that. The owner was laughing so much he decided not to press charges.

It only funny 'til someone loses an eye.......oops

ROFL http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif These are all great stories (if not always FB related http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ).

Last night I was playing on the MA server, flying a 109. I was climbing just a ways off my airfield, when I spot a Russian bird heading towards me from 3 o'clock. I desperately whip my 109 towards him, trying to make his aim more difficult and at the same time get my sights on his plane as well. At the last second I pull my sights on his aircraft, and pull off a short burst (which misses). Unfortunately, by this time we're disturbingly close and heading dead towards each other. My 109 shudders as his plane grazes the top of my canopy, and by the time I turn around his plane is already in a death-dive to the earth. There was obviously a collision, so I ask a nearby friendly to check if my tail's still in place. The conversation went something like this:
AirBot(Me): Dak(Friendly) can you check if my tail's still on my plane
Shadow(Enemy): No. It's in my head

Apparently I passed right below him, slicing his plane with my tail right through the cockpit and getting an instant PK.

A guy from my town was at hospital with burnings and a broken leg. He had promised his wife to give up smoking, but he was too weak. So, everytime he sat on the toilet, he also managed to light a cigarrette and keep the fact in secret. One of those times, he threw the cigarrette into the toilet as he was... well, you know. His wife had used alcohol and other flammable product to clean the inside of the toilet, and it bursted in flames. He burned his *** and b**ls. His house had no lifter, and he couldn't walk http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. So, the ambulance crew had to help him go down the stairs. He was telling them what had happened, and they had such a laugh attack that they let him fall all the stairs down. He broke his leg. Now, he sure has give up smoking! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A few nights ago while online I was bringing my P-51 in for a landing, wounded and out of ammo. While lining up with the runway an enemy plane swoops down to stafe me. At that moment my CO respawns and is sitting at the far end of the runway on the tarmac. The enemy plane (at a high speed) misses me and nearly hit the ground. He gained control and flew directly into the path of my CO. My CO squeezed off a short string as he passed. The enemy aircraft nosed up caught fire and exploded. We got a good laugh outa that lol.

Very funny, but an old urban myth proved false by the MythBusters. In their experiments, you would need roughly half a pound( i think) of gunpowder to create such effects.

heh. In our squad server we were flying all P-51's with full real except in-cockpit padlock was turned on.

anyway, the game was kinda winding down, there was only one other person besides me in the server (host was idle) so we were just kinda goofing off. I was sitting, engine off, at my airfeild. He kept asking where I was, and I told him a kilometer above him. He spooked, but after I repeated the joke a bunch of times he realized I was idle at my base.

When I see him coming from my cockpit, I decide that I don't want to be killed, so Istart my engine and turn to face him (figureing that the less time he has to shoot at me, the better.) and firewall the throttle.

I realize, at some point, that his flight path will take him into my gunsights for a relatively long moment. So I open fire at the opportune moment.

After the pass, my engine is porked, so I shut it down and brake to a stop, still on the finished part of the airfeild. I execute a 90 degree turn and look out at him: he has a dead prop and an engine fire. HAHAHA!!

Another time I was flying an A-9 online. I was having a rough day, and was getting ready to quit. I spawned, and realizing there was a feirce dogfight in progress over my base, I decided to delay taking off for a while. Things were getting pretty hectic, lowlevel swarming galore. Eventually, only one friendly and one enemy were left, the friendly comes zooming down right over the runway, with the enemy in close pursuit. The enemy gives him and engine fire and probably does other extensive damage that leads to him pancakeing on the runway. As the enemy comes flying out of the fireball, I recognize another opportune moment. I fire my mg's and my 20mm's, I see four explosions on his side, and off comes his wing!

I was on greatergreen a couple nights ago, and watched as a team mate cut in behind a Ju88. He had planned and executed well. He had more than enough energy to take his shot and extend, but the german tailgunner got lucky. My comrad's engine was struck, it burst into flames and the entire plane exploded violently. Fortunately, IL-2's physics apply to even the smallest bits of flaming debris. The fireball that was my team mate over took, and engulfed the Ju88, incinerating the lucky gunner. Maybe you had to be there, but I'm sure the pilot of the Ju88 got a kick out of it.

Landing after a DF I realized another bird was also landing. From the other direction. I zigged he zagged. Murphy's law took over and we were both still head on. Application of the brakes brought us to a stop just a mere few feet from each other.........on our noses! We looked like a victory V. Sure wish quick record was available then. Not that I would have had the insight to enable it, but someone may have done so....lol.

While flying on the WarClouds server was airborne in a 109 and gaining ALT. At this time i was at about 3000m when from above me a YAK3 comes up behind me and fires a quick burst killing my engine. The Yak decided to play around a bit and do a couple of fly bys as im gliding down to the ground. On his 3rd pass he comes into my sites i fire a quick burst and KABOOM he blows up in front of me. And to top it all off i made it to the runway and put my crate down.

They had a toilet, with a small amount of water on it, and a crash test dummy sitting ontop of it. They experimented with various kinds of flammable things, most of which didnt ignite. gasoline did ignite, but for a very short second. Then they took about 1/2 pound of blackpowder, which only slightlymoved the dummy, but caught him on fire ( i think)

I was on the VEF server in a '44 setting iirc for sh1ts and giggles and chose red side. I grabbed a P-51 cause I hadn't flown it that much and proceeded to rack up the kills. Over near the enemy base kills 2 and 3 were 109s and shortly thereafter I got kill 4 a 190. Amazed at how well I was doing I said:
Jg27_Elfunko: Wow this P-51 is really something!
Jg27_Elfunko: I could see how it could win the war.

Shortly thereafter the chatbox filled up with LMAO's. Hehehe. I crack myself up. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

A ways back I was flying on Warclouds. I took up a JU87G to do some tank busting and help out the blue mission objectives.

Upon arrival over the target area, I see there are no fighters and breath a sigh of relief. Out of some clouds comes a lumbering B17 flown by LW_Tornado which I assume is headed home after a bomb run.

I zoom in on the tanks next to the bridge to find my target for the first pass and right before firing I start getting hit by MG fire...so I hit C to jump in the back seat to check 6 and what do I see? A freakin B17 chasing me down, nose gunner blazing away.

Well heck, I thought I'll just turn around and snap shoot him with my twin cannons, that ought to do the trick. But oh no, Tornado is BnZing me in his B17 lol...so I dive for some speed and try to turn around again.

This goes on for about 5 minutes as I slowly watch my plane fall apart from repeated peppering from those hateful AI gunners. Eventually the holes in my wing cause me to lose controllability and I crash.

I'm laughing and pissed off at the same time looking at my smoking crater on the ground and then I notice another Stuka coming in blissfully unaware of the stalking B17. I decide to say nothing since technically I am dead and watch the fight from external on the Stuka.

He gets chewed up and spit out too lol...I realized then there was a plan to Tornado's actions, he was capping the objective with a freakin bomber.......and succeeding lol.

Salute, that was some funny shat http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sometime ago I was in a server dogfighting and someone decided to chage my P51 estetics by putting a few holes on it, so I had to bail.
Taking a good look to the russians prairies from my chute, I was chating with some guys when I see my plane falling directly on the enemy runway destroying a plane that was taking off. I swear it was not my fault but I got booted for it lol

I remember the first time when I saw A track of a Hurricane B&Z a Me109 that would try to evade by turning. I started chuckling but I was drinking vodka at the same time and from the coughs some of the alcohol went in my nose. After five minutes I hardly could tell the difference between my joystick and a baseball bat. I was totally "cut as if by an axe" as we say here. I then started my offline campaign and a friend of mine was watching. He said my flying was the funniest thing he had ever seen.

Got jumped by 2 bastards and took some heavy dmg so I brought it down to ground level for a crash landing. As they kept firing on my plane some how I landed and as they passed right over the top of my plane I opened up on both of them flying in formation. My fire hits the planes but doesnt bring them down. The left plane breaks to the right to avoid the fire and the right plane breaks to the left and Kaboom! Laughed my arse off for like 5 min straight.

I was in f16 dedicated earlier, which has friendly icons but limited to .2 where you can only see friendly icons with your wingtips almost touching.

There was 4 of us in la5fns flying in formation at 6000m vs a group of 6 109k4s that were flying in formation at the same alt, we all made a massive h2h as a group and everyone surived some got minor damage but was great, I managed to shoot down 3 and they shotdown 3 of the la5s so it was me vs 3, I was about to get a 4th one then his squad buddy got on my tail so i dove down into the clouds and lost him while the other 2 were above, the guy who followed me down just put on his wingtip smoke and i notice both guys above flashing thier wingtip lights, the second the 109 with me turned off his wingtip smoke i turned mine on and a 109k4 bnz's him a couple feet in front of me, it just made me crack up and could tell they were on coms, the 2 remaining managed to shoot me down after hiding in the clouds for awhile trying to rtb with no ammo left.

My story is like this: I was cruising along in my P-40E in the 401 Cdn server around about 3-4k, when I got jumped by 3 bad guys. So, I pointed the nose at the ground and prayed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. Dodging tracers, I made my way down. Then, I looked over to my right, and noticed an enemy P-51 diving at me. Suddenly, his plane lost its wing and plummeted past me into the ground. One of the funniest things I've seen. It was better that he was a guy I flew with/against in CFS 2 like 3 years ago http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I've got a QMB story where I was in a huge furball (like 10 on 10, mixed planes, cockpit on, no icons), I sneak up on this plane really close and he starts firing (cannons and guns) and I let him have it (6 50s) from his 7 o'clock position (I even see his wings separate), then Black Screen....nothing. I exit the game, it says I got a kill....OK...why did I die?

So I saved the Track and replayed it. Turns out I snuck up on a FRIENDLY P39 (I only figured this out cause I played it back in slow motion) who was going head on with a 109, and between the 109 in front and me in back, he had no chance, but then I collided with the 109!!! I was laughing so hard at myself. And the screen shot of the three planes blowing up in such close proximity was priceless.

my funniest moment was the other night on the greatergreen.com server while I was on my way back from bombing the russian docks (target) in my H-111. I came across an unused airfield in the middle of nowhere (obviously where a russian had landed) to see a big pillar of smoke coming from about 10ft in front of the runway! lol...some poor sod had nursed his crippled aircraft only to stall and crash 10ft before the runway! I thought it was hilarious, until I remembered about 2 mins earlier when some Red guy put out a 'F##K' via chat but hadn't been shot down! lol.

So many but heres one. I was flying on virtual pilots 2. I chose a undermanned red to level things out. Eventually I navigated my way to an enemy who apparently was bait as I ended up flying looking out my rear window as 6 G2's were out for blood on me. Too busy to scream for help I was wondering how long I had when one ran into another starting a chan reaction that took out no less than all 6 of my persuers! Immeadiately I boasted of how I planned that maneuver to everyones amusement. While I nursed my swiss cheese home.

BTW the he111 is a excellent dogfighter. With that 20mm in the nose you fly with one hand on the joystick and one hand on the mouse http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Got another one... last night on UK-Dedicated...

was at 3k, saw a p51, he killed a friendly so i turned and dove, took a bit to chase him down and since its a friendly nice area i saw another red arrow behind me, looked back, another p51, but aways back, so i kept going after this other one, he turned, got a lucky shot and shot him down, but now i was low on deck and slow, other p51(jimB2) was closing in for a good kill shot, he shot me up, and zoomed past, i had damage on wing and knew i was dead, he was behind closing again, i was at 700m at about 450kph... he was closing fast so i knew i had to try something desperate... so did a quick roll into a split S and barely made it, made the ground dust up... looked external to see him, he must have tried hard to keep up with the fast roll and S his plane was spinning, think he lost it and zoom into ground... lucky me... lol...

i decided to re-surrect this ancient thread with a story from yesterday

after an action-packed fight in an F4F against Macchis and taking some damage, I was trying to to land on our carrier.

Another pilot is ahead of me, we are on short final, enemy planes may still lurk around, scan the sky for safety, tail-hook extended.

Pilot in front of me reports that he couldn't succeed with landing ("so he went around then" I figured) and continue the approach. 100 m form the carrier and at a considerable rate of descent, the other pilot exclaims "hopefully the landing aircraft will not hit me", as he is on the deck, engine damaged, wingless.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif then i spot him in the last moment, too late to arrest the descent and go around, so I try to catch the first wire and pray for a stop, close my eyes and expect the boooooommmmmm http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

but the boom is missing, my aircraft settles down on the belly, and slides next to the other damaged aircraft, stopping only 2 meters from it

no, i didn't catch the first wire http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif what really happend: i forgot to extend the manual landing gear in the rush http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif so the aircraft stopped very quickly on its belly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

i told this story to attest: mistakes from poor airmanship can make everyone lucky at times http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I also have a story:

It was in one of those generated online wars, don't recall which one though, IL2War or Czechwar or Europe in Flames or whichever, my memory fails me.

I was on a Stuka mission, the task was to destroy some tanks invading our territory.
While i was busy busting those tanks a Yak took note of me. With all my escort already gone elsewhere or rtb, i was all alone out there with him. Sure enough he started attacking me. I immediately fled to my home airfield, but its no secret that the stuka is not particularly the fastest plane out there.
The target area with the tanks was less than 10km away from my homebase, but 10km can be a very, veeery long way if you have a Yak on your six shooting at you. All i could do was dodging bullets by flying wild manoeuvres, with little success. He was slowly working my stuka. My AI gunner was shooting like crazy, but not hitting him. Every time he'd zoom in, i tried to evade by turning, but everytime he scored a few hits.
Probably most of you will know, in a situation like this you dont expect anything anymore. I had given up hope, my plane was hardly manoeuvrable, big holes in both wings, engine damaged, rudder damaged, the works. Could do nothing but fly straight, a sitting duck.
All i could do was wait for the final blow.

Then, all of a sudden, i realize the shooting stops, just short of my airfield. I look back on my 7-8 o'clock. Something appeared there, slowly overtaking me, all the while tumbling like a leaf in an autumn storm. I gaze in disbelief. It actually overtakes me before i realize: This is a piece of a Yak wing!! I can spot the red star on it! Slowly it tumbles down to earth, and before it touches the ground i get an "enemy aircraft destroyed" message.
Now i don't know about all of you, but for me it was the first time i was overtaken not by an enemy, but by an enemy wing! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

My guess is that the Yak driver was perhaps zooming down to finish me off when my gunny did it right once and hit his plane, causing his wing to fall off. With the airspeed he had from zooming down, his torn-off wing was fast enough to overtake my slow stuka. It definitely wasn't a collision.

I landed safely at my AF. Learned an important lesson that night: Never give up hope!
And one more story for those evenings at the fireplace... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

LOL Ice, good one!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Whenever I try such 'stupidities' in German bombers, I switch to forward gunner station, but I don't touch mouse (so the gun remains pointed exactly forward), and still control the plane via joystick. This way you aim your 20mm cannon on He111 pretty effectively, you only have to shoot with the mouse button. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Posted this a few months ago in an old low flying thread, but it still makes me chuckle, so I'll post again!

We had been trying to replicate the Breitling fighters, but had been well and truly knackered out by the strain of close formation flying and decided on a whirly go round in some spits. The story starts with the tail chase...

1) I'm leading in the MkVb so that the other two hopefully won't have too muchtrouble keeping up - BBs dad is lagging with BB (Paddy) just behind me as I drop between the trees for a bit of fun...

As we cruise down the runway at 0ft I'm thinking that we must look pretty cool and hoping the Pops is keeping up..
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/tomtheyak/LANP02.jpg

Unfortunately Pops misjudges the trees and pays the price; aerial horticulture is a risky undertaking!

Knowing exactly where he'll spawn I lead BB around low so that we'll be hidden under his nose as we run in and hopefully we'll scare the poo outta him as we roar over his canopy at silly low level; hehehe I'm a mishievous little sod!

As you see I'm lifting the nose to clear him by a couple of feet (don't wanna take it too close; crashing makes me grumpy) and I assume BBs gonna follow suit...

This isn't strictly a Sim story, but it does involve a low-flying Spitfire.
I had a short video clip sent to me from a documentary, in which the presenter is telling the audience that the "prototype K5054 first flew on this day from this very airfield...". Slowly the camera pans to his left as he continues and in the distance we can see a white dot approaching quickly over the grass. The white dot grows wings and becomes a Spitfire travelling at high speed about 3 metres off the ground - straight at the camera!
Oblivious to this, the presenter finishes his speech as the Spitfire roars over his head. He drops out of sight and three loud, "F**K ME!"'s are heard - 2 from him and one from the cameraman. He then reappers, clutching his chest, with a silly grin and another "f**k me".

I have watched that clip soooo many times... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

These are classic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'd say probably the funniest things was done in single player. I was flying in a downloaded campaign, and the mission was to destroy a bridge. I had already dropped my ords, and missed the bridge, as usual. I'd then commenced fighting off enemy aircraft...and every single plane I hit would get to the point where it was out of control, i'd break off, and good old blue 2 would be right behind me blowing their wings off and getting the kill. He must have stolen 6 kills from me, before I finally got fed up with his antics. We had a bridge to destroy after all, and I was out of bombs.

I ordered him to rejoin formation, and tighten in on my wing. I went full power, and dove straight down, at the bridge. I hit about 650 kmh, hit my flaps, and pulled out.

Well good old blue 2, did exactly what I ordered him to do. He pancaked into that bridge at probably 900 km/h, with no wings. The best part was, he hit the damn thing while it had a full convoy on it...

Blue 2 never got to steal a kill from me ever again, and I got the knights cross out of the deal.

Ah sweet sweet vengeance http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Campaigning in a MiG during winter, went to strafe a vehicle convoy. I saw first time those little guys swarming off vehicles as I pulled to level. As I watched and chuckled I crashed to a steep uphill. That was like straight outta cartoon. Would ve been nice touch for little guys to start gesturing to my direction http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif
Another in a QMB: I like to test HE111 sniper gunners with my ShVAK MiG, swinging around and taking pot shots. One method is to drop under to gather speed and then vertical approach. Once again I realized I was going too close, bound to collide. Just cursed and let stick go, ready for kitchen visit. Loud bang and...MiG was still vertical but controllable. HE111 was spinning down without a wing and tail. Amazed I grabbed to stick again and started looking for next target. While still standing there vertical, escorting 109 nailed me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I was just flying offline last night (since my ISP was going haywire) and since I fly for a RAF squadron thought I would try something new. I was flying a LA7 with 3 wingmen against some Ju88 bombers over an airbase with AAA defense. I ordered my wingmen to attack the bombers which they did immediately. I lost one wingman to flak from the airbase but the other two kept on hammering away at the bombers. Once the bombers were destroyed I got kind of bored so I thought I would do a little target practice on my wingmen. This is where it gets interesting.
I seem to remember before that you could fire away at a friendly AC and they would just keep on flying straight ahead albeit yelling at you incecently to stop shooting at them. After I hit one of my wingmen he started smoking and then started maneuvering wildly (as he was screaming at me) just like I was an enemy fighter on his tail. After I destroyed him I proceeded to do the same to my other remaining wingman and he reacted in just the same way.
I am not sure whether to post this here in the funny thread or in the "this sim still amazes thread" as I have never seen this happen before.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I dropped a 1000 kg bomb on the TB-3 with 3 sec delay and the guy only could say after: "what was that?" =) He was carring 2 i16 under wings but they detached themself in time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I still have the track of this JU-87 action =)

I've been a naughty bugger sometimes.... One one particular map I load up a bomb on my me109 with a 10 second fuse. then I'd go and wait about a km or 2 off the 'enemy' spawning place flying around in circles...waiting. Then there'd be a message like somebody lost a wing. 'Balls to the wall' and most times, drop the bomb before the respawn.
Of course all that the poor guy sees is your plane zooming away in the distance.... tick tick tick.. Flaps, primer, magnetos ..SPLAT.

Favourite moment is from yonks ago when I bnz attacked a formation La7s and Yak3s in a 190...but I didn't have a lot of speed to zoom. I blasted one to pieces on the first pass but found I had a swarm on my 6. Adopting a nose down attitude, my flock of idiots played right into my hands and followed me down in a near vertical dive at high speed.

Pulling out at the bottom yielded a fantastic sight...one of the planes had already broken up whilst two smashed into the ground.

I think you should get points for ruses such as that.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

A few weeks back my dad and I were flyin a Coop together. He has problems still at times taking off so what initialy transpired didnt suprise me.

I took off in the lead P-40 with him behind me. In attempting to put my gear up I forgot that I had my selector switch set wrong so had to switch to the one that would bring my gear up. A few seconds later I hear on Team Speak "What the @#$%$ just happened?" I said "What did you do veer off the run way and crash into a tree again?" (this being a common practice of his, dont ask me how he always finds the trees) His response is "No I got off the ground but for some reason my plane just exploded!"

At that moment I realized my plane had bombs loaded and the first attempt to raise my gear was actully my accidental release of my bomb load which has a 5 second delay. After I reilized this all he heard for the next two or three minuites was me laughing while I tryed to explain to him what had just happened.

Jut an amazing moment:

Got my P-47 up to 24,000ft, and saw some tracer go over my right wing...it was a zero who had snuck up on me, and I never even saw him...P-47, what do you do....dive like crazy.....the speed dial is going ballistic and at 990KPH I start to pull out of the dive, no sign of the zero, I was glad to make it back!

Next thing I know, he rams me!

Obviously I'm not happy about this and let him know.

Unfortunately I have to eat humble pie as I watch the track back.

My dive did indeed lose him, but as he was tracking me down, both his wings broke off. As I turned back, his 'torpedo' shaped fuselage and cockpit came down in exactly the same place I had turned into.

To be honest, it was amazing that in all the sky, he fell straight on top of me with no wings or control....bloody uber zero http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Shame I no longer have the track, was just one of those moments that sticks in the memory for a long time to come<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

This game does have it's moments:

Funny - my brother and I were on our own flying on the "Summer mountains" map. This time we were flying biplanes, both in Gladiators/J8s. On one of his respawns, I was still airborne and decided to fly low and pop up in front of him as he took off from the runway end and give him a "squirt" as the airfield was just above ground level. Unfortunately, my wheels touched ground heavily as I pulled up and I lost control...I shot up vertically in front of him as he left the runway. Made him jump big time http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Lots of laughter and WTF...

Spectacular - Same evening, but flying YP80s low through the valleys on a head to head. Heading toward eachother obliquely along valleys, out of view, next thing I see is flame and bits flying in front across my nose as he hits the ground at speed - looked like a napalm strike. Effect was very spectacular http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Frustrating - Acouple of months ago on what I believe was UkDedicated I flew a Stuka with the "big" bomb the long way round at 10,000ft to attack the shipping in dock. I could see dogfighting off to the right so felt chuffed that I had been left alone. Reached the target, nosed over, released at 4,000ft, pulled out, went to external to see the strike, SERVER ENDS!!! NOOOOO...... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif Trip to the kitchen muttering... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

nope, too few gears http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

the mission objective is to land on that narrow road and then take off again, simulating the pilot rescue in a given area

so after many tries, finally the unarmed rescue plane on the right came in, this time perfectly aligned, exactly at right spot, near rescue position - with GEAR UP.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

then i figured, okay, why not rescue 2 pilots instead of 1, i decided to land on the road as well, although it almost never works for me. Made perfect touch-down, gears down, landing roll towards the pickup position, when I see the nose of the other rescue plane coming up fast on the side of the road http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif , left rudder, oops, trees are coming up there http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif , braking hard... nosing over....

so we both joined our imgainary fellow pilot in the march to the POW camp http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif deservedly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I had a reasonably good one on Saturday morning on spits v 109's. There was no one on blue so I decided to fly red. The J8A was an option and they are fun all on their own so I figured why not. Just after take off a Ju88 was making a run new the base. I figured why not? No one else seemed to be chasing it. So I dove on it and in the first pass killed the left engine, the second time past the right engine was wasted.. One of my guns was jammed and I had some new speed holes in the wings. AS I was lining up to land the escort 109e found me and tried in vain to zoom and boom me... I throttled up and gave chase.. He tried to turn ( mistake ) and I pk the pilot with my 3 .50s Then the AAA stole the kill.. I turn yet again to land and see another 109 strafing the field, I figure someone has to put a stop to this so I give chase again and catch him as he is deciding to zoom climb away or not.. It became less easy with the dead eninge.. Finally I land and have a good laugh because I thought the .50's were porked, the 109 were Uber and that a Ju88 was mroe like the death star. 8^) Especially up against a lone J8A with speed holes. 8^) Even funnier was the time I got in a rolling dogfight with two hurricanes while I was in a Ju87.. Once I got on the one guys 6 it was just a matter of time.. That was freeking hiliarous, thy could have run but kept trying to turn. 8^)
