I hit the big Five Zero next week. I'll be on holiday in Florida at the time.

For my present the ever suffering Mrs has booked me a hands on flight in the TF-51D "Crazy Horse"!!!:D

It's a dual control aircraft and they hand it over to you once you are up (very, VERY brave men) and you are in control for 90% of the flight!!!

If all goes to plan I'll be flying on the 6th July 12 at 1300hrs Florida time (1800hrs GMT) If you go on their website at www.stallion51.com (http://www.stallion51.com) and check out their hangar and ramp webcams you may even see me!

I'll submit as detailed a comparison between the "IL2" sim Mustang and the real thing as I can when I get back......assuming I don't drop it.....they must be mad!

God bless the Mrs, 27 years of marriage does have it's rewards............assuming she hasn't just ramped up my life insurance policy!:nonchalance:

It isn't cheap but the fulfilment of a lifelong dream rarely is.;)

First and foremost, congratulation on 27 years of marriage and attaining your 50th B-day.Outstanding that you get to have a dream become reality and your wife was the driving force.

Well I'm back, thanks for the thoughts chaps. Let me just say that the TF-51D flight was worth every penny! I'll knock together a comparison thread in the next few days. Believe me, if you can get the money together then I cannot recommend the experience enough.

I've uploaded a bit of video to YouTube. It's shot from the Stallion51 Hangar balcony by my eldest lad and shows a short taxi out, engine run-up check and then take-off. The pilot is John Posson. He retracts the gear and continues to accelerate down the runway until he comes level with some workmen working at the side of the runway and then enters a steep climb out. I never appreciated what g-force was until this point and it was just a taste of what was to follow.

You can hear my Mrs voicing her thoughts on the climb out!:D
