View Full Version : Request for the future: Random problems

What I would REALLY like for a future patch is to see some of the non-combat related problems that WWII pilots had to face, to put it simple I want the planes to be faulty at random.
For instance:

Various engine failures while in flight, of course not fatal all the time.

Instruments and gauges not working or showing wrong figures at random. (but please make all the gauges work first)

Controls getting stuck or misbehaving after violent manueveres.

Guns jamming at random during intensive shooting or shooting during high angle of attack.

Structural limits of the a/c making it possible the break the plane by doing violent manuevers and not just by exeeding top-speed.

Wheather affecting engines performance, oil/radiator liquid freezing etc.

Icing problems at high altitude or extreme wheather conditions, canopy glass getting covered by fog or ice.

There are countless possibilities to make flying even more interesting. And of course these random failures should not occur on every mission, and one should have the possibility to turn them off.
Does this sound like an idea?

I only want the conopy can be open and add in 'shift F3' to move the head to the side so can see in front object while taking off.

Speed is the KEY.

Sure, but right behind maximum damage models first. What good are random failures when the bullet strikes aren't modeled yet. It'll be a while. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Bump to this! I'd like to see this feature.

Some features were in IL2.

Messages need to pop up if this happens, reason: there was a problem in IL2 where I think people thought it was a bug or something, not realizing it was a part of the game.

In the book by German pilot Lipfert in Eastern front - he constantly had issues with his machine guns jamming. Course, he also was able to still shoot down bandits with mg's (lol, must not be the same 109G2 mg's I have - worthless).

Would be good to see this as an option, like CEM.

Salute!

LOL that WOULD be great http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
While we're at it: More wheather influence on flight would be nice too.

I think one needs to be careful with this.
For a start I think it should be an option. We do not want a situation where beginners are having enough trouble taking off and landing, let alone engine management and fighting, then having to cope with unexpected problems.
Putting this in also could put a lot of flight sim enthusiasts off playing online.

Of course this should be an on/off setting in the difficulty control panel, I don't wanna force this on anyone http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
