Are there any tutorials online about setting up convergence for fixed sights? Ie as I close into a 109 in a spit how big should the aircraft be in the sight at 500m/200m?

I am currently flying a 109 campaign in AEP so a 109 related tutorial would probably be the most helpful at the moment.

Many thanks

IF you speak any German you can find an original WW2 German manual here, foreword by A. Galland... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

I know someone made an English translation but I haven't got the link here.

Turn on icons and use Quick Mission Builder to fly some tests for sight pictures. Icons show range in fractions of km. Multiply the icon range by 1000 to get metres.

I set my convergence like this. I notice the AI start taking pot shots at .45m(450m). Thats a bit far for my unsteady hand. So I set my cannons at .35m(350m), and I set my machine guns at .25m(250m). I have an extra trigger on my X45 set to fire machine guns and cannons at the same time. Of course I use short burst because of this, but it seems very effective to me. That way when I reach .35m behind an enemy ac, I can start giving it a full dose of both until I close to .25m. Any distamce under .25m, I fire only my machine guns so I don't waste my cannon rounds. I hope this gives you an idea or two. The sugestion to set up target practice in the QMB is a great one. That is how I came up with my settings. S!

Exactly. I've even found a little more discipline and closer convergences amount to more kills, higher hit%'s and less guesswork.

The key though is PRACTICE. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

And if you can offset slightly to one side where you are not looking straight at the enemies' tail (about 10 degrees deflection) you will find your shooting much more effective in hitting the gas tanks, engine & cockpit instead of the armor plate behind the pilot. I aim at the engine & let dispersion do the rest for me.
