As a kid, I shot my Daisy air rifle at all kinds of stuff, and judging by the size of the 'bullet' hitting those things, I think it may be a lead pellet from an air rifle. It was pretty powerful when maxed out at 10 pumps. Some bluejays that were dive bombing my cat felt the wrath of my accurate BB fire http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/icon_twisted.gif

I've seen video of an AK-47 type weapon being fired into a clear sided box with some type of jelly the consitancy of flesh. Since Dum-Dum rounds and the like are banned from being used in war by the Geneva Convention, these rounds were designed to change trajectory when passing through a person. Seeing the bullet enter and violently curve was morbidly fascinating, but gave me pause, as that's what would most likely be fired at me should I be in a combat situation.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

yeah short rounds tumble and really screw up your insides
SAS use mp5's cos the lower volicity, at higher the bullets go thru guy possibley hitting ppl u trying to save, and the guy wouldnt notice a high volicity round for several seconds

Hmmm, I'd not be inclined to agree that the SAS use the MP5 because of velocity issues, but because the weapon is reliable, accurate (it fires from a closed bolt), and has many options available that people like the SAS find... handy.

Velocity is a factor governed by catridge design and barrel length. Penetration comes from velocity and bullet shape.

Where penetration is not desired, hollowpoints and speciality rounds like the Glaser safety Slug are used. Also, subsonic ammunition can be used, but is mostly reserved for the MP5SD and similar suppresed firearms.

Well, this wasn't a tumble, not a round that the police might use, but it was something designed to take out enemy soldiers with. It curved significantly, but left a 'normal' exit wound. I should think it would drop someone pretty quick, with the vector change and the shockwave of the direction change passing through the insides of the target. If you ever see the video, you'll know what I mean. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

The round in that clip looks most like a .50 Desert Eagle round though.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif Well, it's subjective on the size, but compared to the peppermint, the round looked rather small and blunt, like a airgun pellet to me. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Note: A peppermint is about 1 inch or 2.54 cm across.

I agree I had a pump air rifle and those videos look just like the stuff I used to do with it. In fact that air rifle I had was so deadly it would have to be registered as a firearm if I had brought it to Britain with me. I use to shoot rather deep holes into brick walls with it.
