Don't buy Aces over Europe its boring. I've given it the benefit of the doubt and flown a number of missions. You take off fly out to some triangular shaped flight pattern and, you bet, every time you meet up with the bad guys. Same place every time. They don't have a busy airport feel with assorted flights coming and going. They don't have any surprises. You will attack enemy bombers and, guess what, enemy bombers appear. You are never surprised by fighters being spawned as you return from the mission, etc. Guaranteeded one dogfight per mission same time same place.

Check out the skin on the Bf 109 G its damn poor.

Here, here. To me BOE was very boring, but I guess it depends on what sort of flying you like to do. I will say that the new set of campaigns (especially the spits campaigns) are a lot better.

it always amazes me any one would even buy such and expansion when the best skinners give away there creations for free and the mission builder is so easy to use and if u dont want to spend the time creating one just use any of the random mission building programs that uber deamon written.

AoE? Aces over Europe came out about 10 years ago.

If you mean Russian Rocket's Battle over Europe add-on with the AEP upgrade, I beg to differ.
P-38L's in ground-pounding missions in Normandy or the Desert are varied and awesome. Much quicker
and better than the ones I whipped up. Planes do spawn for the intercept occasionally, intercept
point and/or bombing area all over, etc.

Ah, well, to each their own, I s'pose...

Have yet to play it much, but so far its been very interesting. Flying escort over 26 odd B-17s (in combat box formation no less - try setting that up in the FMB http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) is fun.

Compared to the other products in the FB line up it is a bit expensive - thats most likely due to it being only a small publishing run.

Not to mention BOE has Oleg's blessing and works seamlessly with FB & AEP. Try saying that about DCG or Uberdaemon's mods. Just following the convoluted installation instructions for those will drive a casual user bonkers.

As Spectre said, to each his own...

We are talking about 2 different things here. Aces Over Europe (AOE) is not the same as Battle Over Europe (BOE). BOE was created by a third party with the approval of Oleg. AOE was not.

I have BOE and enjoy it very much. I don't have AOE, so I can't comment.

This post concerns the Aces Over Europe add-on for IL-2 FB. It is a mission and skin pack for this flight sim. We are not taliking about the Sierra game.

Well BoE just got mentioned here , so I am going to pipe up and say it was well worth my money.

Great add on, and I did not have to spend hours on the web downloading, love the right out of the box, just play the cool campaigns feel.

Can you give me any reference to such a product? I've heard of 'Battle over Europe' by Justflight and of 'Combat over Europe' by GMX Media, both are add-ons for FB. An add-on named 'Aces over Europe' is new to me and I actually don't know what this thread is about.

Battle over Europe by justflight ( www.justflight.com (http://www.justflight.com) ) is really very very good!

In fact it it wasn't so good I'd probably have finished making the campaign I'm working on long ago. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Combat over Europe .... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif Sorry Leonard but the truth is the truth.

Yes, I am with plumps on this one. BoE for FB, ok, I have heard of that, CoE for FB, yup, heard of it...AoE for FB... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif no, no I have never heard of this. I think that the name of either BoE or CoE was remembered incorrectly by someone, and it was referred to as "AoE", because the poster was confused with the Ace Expansion Pack and either "BoE" or "CoE". "AoE" is the common abbreiviation for the Dynamix game, "Aces over Europe", which was a sequel to "Aces of the Pacific", both of which were played in DOS mode...

Oops, I got confused. Sorry. Too many "Over Europe" games here. Aces Over Europe is/was a combat sim by Sierra released a few years back. I had it, but didn't play it much even though I remember it was good for the time.

Battle Over Europe is the IL-2 FB add-on distributed by JustFlight. I have this one and it includes a number of campaigns for the Normandy and Ardennes maps. U.S. and German planes are highlighted in these campaigns (P-38, P-47, P-51, 109s and 190s). Very nice IMO. No British planes though. It also includes a desert campaign (Brits vs. Germans) and a Pacific campaign (which didn't seem to work properly when my squad tried 2 missions). The box says this add-on is not endorsed by Ubi Soft, but I have heard that it was made with approval from Oleg by some third party people who contributed work on the Aces expansion. See the JustFlight site for more info.

Combat Over Europe is another add-on for IL-2 FB. Don't know anything about this add-on except for the comments that I have read on this forum.

To confuse me even more, I guess the next things will be "Dogfight Over Europe" (DOE), "Enemies Over Europe" (EOE), "Fight Over Europe" (FOE), "Goofballs Over Europe" (GOE) and "Hun ******s Over Europe" (HHOE)... Hmmm... can't think of anything for IOE (thank God).

BoE has now an addon that allows you to fly Spitfire IX and Mustang C in RAF campaign.

Thanks for the tip Starshoy. There were a lot of campaigns added in BOE. I must have overlooked the RAF campaign with the Spits. I'll look for it.

I have started a few of the offline campaigns in BOE, but most of my time is spent flying the online BOE campaigns with my squad. We get together at least once a week. We really enjoy them. We have almpst given up making our own missions as the online campaigns are very good, especially the BOE ones.
