All things that you just mention is just pure lag anomalies.. it`s either your connection or server that you joined...or person that you were shootng at /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif . Nothing more...nothing less.

Lag was my first thought also. I wonder what kind of connection he has. I have heard that screen shots and messing with the modem line can cause one to blast off like a UFO, but I would say most is lag.

Sounds exactly like the lag I used to have with 56k modem. With cable I rarely if ever see any of what you describe. I'm not saying it isn't happening to you but just be careful you don't make a mistake and call lag a cheat fest.

But why does it never happen when I play with people I know. We all have modem 56 K connection, 3-4 people on the server. When that guy whent out on Earth stationary orbit only 2 people were on the server me and him and pings were 300-400.

- OK. Let's go to one of the online game servers. What
- do we see? On every single server I played today
- there was at least one cheater. At last server I
- played all players were cheating. Their aircrafts
- dived in to the ground and when were back in the
- air. Other's cockpits jumped very conveniently in
- the direction of enemy. I've been ghosting many
- players and 80-90% of them obviously cheated.

I know you may not belive this but I will say this anyway.

It is not cheating when you see what you describe... It is a lag related Anomaly.

Like I have always said, there are some very clever and crafty people out there. Perhaps some tech guru's that have nothing better to do than try to beat the system. I have read mention of some cheats being used like the wire frame cheat and the screen shot cheat. I really don't know how the game programmers have attempted to combat these cheats.

On the other hand their are also a lot of less fortunate players that have sub par systems and internet connections other than what is actually required to play this sim online or offline for that matter. These guys warp all over the place and mostly seem to have an advantage in combat simply because you are shooting at them where they used to be and not where they actually are. Now I suppose this is a cheat in essence but I assume most just want to have fun like the rest of us. Not everyone can afford state of the art systems, myself included.

I would guess that some people would use a sub par system and connection just to irritate others. Maybe out of jealousy or malice.I remember being thrown off plenty of servers a few years back when I had a slow PC and dialup connection. I voluntarily quit playing online until things improved on my end. It simply was not fair to other players that I was causing problems with the game play.

If you play on some of the better servers, the admins will usually weed out and kick the problematic players. Some times they need to be heartless.

Now you've answered your own problem. You say you never notice it when you go online with friends you know and you all have 56k. Then some guy comes in and goes into orbit. Obviously the guy going into orbit has broadband and can do rings around you if he wants. You must give us tougher problems to solve.
