View Full Version : Does convergence effect bomber gunners?

If you are flying an He-111 for example and you alter convergence at the Arming Screen, does it effect gunner's convergence?

I was curious and wondered if I can help my gunner's accuracy by changing convergence distance. Thanks for any help.

I don't believe convergence affects bomber gunners at all.

In Real life, it would not, because convergence is strictly only about the 'coming together' of the bullet streams from guns mounted in the 2 wings.

However, in IL2, it seems that altering 'convergence' also alters the 'sight setting', ie the distance at which the round's parabola intersects the point of aim in the vertical plane (ie, if you change 'convergence' from 200 m to 300 m, the bullet flies slightly 'higher'...

If so, then it could affect gunners, but I doubt it does. AI routines appear simplified in a number of ways, and I suspect that coding this would have been a waste of effort - but this is just my opinion...
