I just downloaded the demo for Hidden & Dangerous 2 yesterday and so far I like it. Can a few of you who have the game please comment on whether or not it's a great game? I had read that it was buggy and didn't have a good AI.
To give you an idea where I am coming from, I loved Operation Flash Point, didn't care for Call of Duty and marginally liked Ghost Recon. Thanks.

All i can say, is its one of the greatest games ive ever played. No other game has sucked me into the single player campaign quite like this game.

I've sung its praises numerous times on this forum, one of the best games I have EVER played, period. Single player is amazing and I liken it to FB because it is like a simulation not an arcade game like Call of Duty. Enjoyed both games but H&D2 is in a class by itself. I haven't been drawn into a game like that in some time, lots of depth and complexity. Go get it, trust me.

I got COD demo and I thought it was great. Borrowed the full game and didn't like it at all (single player)...so, I gave H&D2 a try (I loved the first H&D very much) and I think it is a great simulation, for a FPS. Great attention to detail, moves, weapons and missions. Very immersive. Although some campaigns are a bit "weak" it is a great winner. I just would like to have more and more missions!
Go buy, if you like FPS with a twist, and WW2 in general.

I had little bugs, and run well on a XP1700+ with 1Gb RAM and GF-TI4200

There was a special "feeling" about H&D1 and it's still there in no.2.
Hard to explain but the game really gives u a feeling of actually being there.

The micromanaging might get a bit irritating, especially as your squad not always do as planned.
Therefore I usually oraly give my orders (ehh?).

Another thing is that when briefing says stealth then usually charge is the best practice.
Actually charge is the overall best tactic.

And I'm not really happy with the fact that the gerries don't care about distant gunshot and the sudden disappearance of fellow guards.
I mean if yer on a sole ice of block in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by buddies and then suddenly you hear fearce gunduells then why not sound the friggin alarm - scramble??

But I'm willing to forgive all that as the overal feeling of the game is better than any game I've played.

Another thing, many peeps who love H&D2 say that CoD sux and vice-versa.
I haven't played CoD yet but find that strange as both are in same genre.

Another thing. I've played through the campaign twice and then kinda lost interest.
Need more missions.

Mebbe, but it's got much more staying power than script driven shooters like CoD. There are SO MANY freakin' ways to complete the missions in H&D2. And so many different styles of control. It's incredibly flexible.

Plus I expect there'll be an expansion like there was for the first H&D.

Big thumbs up from me. It has it's weaknesses, like the first one, but it's the most complete product in the genre and very immersive.

Cheers, Spinner.

H&D2 is very good. I had some graphical troubles when I installed it, with the intros. When I installed my GeForce FX 5700 Ultra that went away, but video in-game was screwy, looked like a photo negative. I toyed around with settings until I fixed it, no problems since with graphics. I especially enjoyed the mission on the iceberg, although there seems to be a bug in it, where you sometimes cannot open certain doors. Re-loading my saved mission fixed that problem and I have only encountered it that one time.

CoD is a very good game too, but you can't expect a scripted shooter to be as immersive as a tactical shooter like H&D2

I think H&D2 had better missions then cod and overall a longer playability. Im not to fond of the graphics and player movement of H&D2, I like COD alot but I beat the game in less then an hour and online it gets very boring.

They recently been converting all the MOH maps to COD which has made the game a little less boring.

out of all the wwii shooters and rts i still have to say ofp and the invasion 1944 mod are the most realistic.

My uncle bought the game, I played it when i was on a weekend there and boy...never seen such tension tearing, immersive, graphically good, complex and yet very smooth and playable game ! It took 30 minutes to discover my favourite way of assigning keys and it took almost the whole weekend to get to the Normandy campaign. I still have to finish it, in a medium difficulty setting.
But i dunno if im still welcome at my uncle's place, he didn't see too much of me in 2,5 days...lol
Joking, he is as fanatic to play games with balls (he he..)as i am. It ran very smooth on his computer: Athlon2000, GF4200TI, 512RAM, SB Live with all maxed out.
Bugs ? minor.. some people complain about bugs but often they get stucked in the game and find no solution to a tactical problem. And thats what it is about, finding a way to outsmart the enemy and bring your squad back..
..to my fans (lol !): dont worry, i still play FB.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Great game. Good graphics, good immersion, nice replayability.

COD has a few moments that are far better visually, but the lack of playing style options makes those look like movie clips you're watching for the tenth time. In HD2, you can redo missions in a different way each time (to a point).

Needs mods though. Haven't seen any yet.

A quartet of minor negative points on H&D2:

The friendly AI can still be a bit dumb at
times, standing out in the middle of nowhere
and getting shot. At other times it can be
great.

Some of the missions are a bit too scripted, and
you can spend hours running around trying to
find the last little thing you need to do.
Some more open endedness would be good.

In urban environments only a fraction of the
houses can be entered, which unrealistically
limits tactical possibilties and makes things
a bit linear sometimes.

Multiplayer doesn't support coops.

Now if they could replicate the look and
feel of H&D2 in a MMOG like WW2OL, with real
strategic aims - wow.

It seems that many people who like IL2 also seem to like this game
dont know why. Maybe the realism

There is an add on planned for H&D2 which will also include multiplayer coop. H&D2 is the best fps game online to date IMO, as to win maps you have to work as a team rather than the typical 'eveyone for himself' style of play. The single player campaign is also great fun, I highly recommend you get it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

I got H&D 2 last month, and I'm on the last campaign. I LOVE the realism and atmosphere of the game, and the drivable vehicles make it very interesting as well (my personal favorite being the Krupp Protze and BMW R75).

My complaints for the most part come from the AI. Sometimes your team can be smart, but usually they're ABSOLUTE MEATHEADS. They don't seem to have any will of their own, and will even STAND STILL when ordered and will not fire even when being directly fired at from point blank range, nor will they help you out. My other complaint is the aggravating disguise missions, as they use the all too common recognition o'meter, which gets very frustrating when you get dicovered by doing even the most innocious of actions. Awesome game otherwise. I've been greatly enjoying it.

Sunburst, I agree with your points except in terms of graphics. I'm running everything maxed with 4xAA and 4xAF in both games and I think H&D2 looks ALOT better. Just my opinion though.

After reading all your posts about this game I downloaded multiplayer demo and played for an hour. It is much better than Call of Duty or Enemy Terretory, but it is not the best online shooter. Try Americas Army. First its totaly free. Second graphics is better. Human models are excellent!!! They move much more realistic than in this game. Wheapons are good too. They support alot of servers. They are reliable with low pings. But the best part is that in the game you are motivated to acomplish team's objective because you get points "honor". If you attack friendly, you loose points ant thet support order on the servers. On H&D2 in one hour I was several times attacked by friendly, one time only because i was laing with the sniper rifle on the way of my team mate, so he descided that it will be easier to shoot than to go around.

Hmm. I remeber Hidden & Dangerous 1, it was great! Almost as good as OFP. I wonder how HD2 is going to be..

German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!

I find Americas Army to arcadey for my liking. I also think the character animation in H&D2 is amongst some of the best I've seen in a game.H&D2 also gives players points for meeting objectives or taking flags (occupation mode)online. Upon reaching certain scores you get promoted and your players skill attributes increase. Team kill and you get demoted and lose skill. I also like the reverse damage implied if you shoot a friendly (making deliberate team killng less popular)If you make three team kills in a game then you get auto kicked http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifIt also has some excellent maps for online play.

After reading this thread I tried the demo and was blown away! HD2 is the most detailed and realistic shooter yet. I went out and bought it and I am hooked. For all of us FB realism fanatics this one fits the bill.

And it is the perfect distraction while waiting for the Aces expansion pack! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
