Hi, first of all, Bravo for everything! Simply a superb work for your team especially working on something so complex like this game.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Second, my question:

I want to create some missions with a few planes fighting one another at the same place. However, I also want to send AI planes during takeoff to another airfield, like transports or recon plane, etc. Since they won't be near the fight with the other planes, I assume the game will not slow down much since we will see the planes only during takeoff.

Of course, the CPU will continue to fly them to the airfield but I wonder how big an impact it will make.

I realised that having cars and planes flying over the airfield towards an unknown location brings life to the mission.

I've done some tests and so far I don't think my 1.8ghz has problems keeping up but need "confirmation" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif .

I'd like to make a recon mission for example, and during takeoff we see 10 B17s at 100feet passing over the airfield going to an unknown target... Of course during that time the FPS would be low but they would disapear from view eventually, thus continuing their trip in the cpu's "head" only. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Don't worry about it, I have found that the CPU is crippled by aircraft only when they engage or are engaged in combat. You can have 100+ planes flying Peacfully with Athalon 1700+ provided they are not in combat--or not all in combat at once like that QMB thing. Experiment in FMB yourself and see how many Friendly planes you can set up with no combat.

Well, when I did that 101 plane experiment I had motherboard video and was only getting ~12 fps even with my plane the only plane so if you have a real video card 100 planes flying Peacefully may drop your fps down from higher levels to 12 fps. I had no way of testing this, but I did notice that even 2x time speed cut the fps to ~6 so I was running against a CPU limit here.

The cool thing is that if you have 9800 Ultra card and I have Trident mobo video we get the same fps with enough planes to sim real frontline warfare. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hehe, well I am not ready for a full war.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

However, I am much more relaxed at adding more planes now. Still no major loss of fps so thing are going up well...

I do need to check the mission forum because it seems that I have problems adding stationary/moving vehicules at one point. i do not know if there is a limit or because there are too many objects too close to one another.. Having too much fun I guess... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif
