As an American I'm a little ill educated about map locations of the Eastern Front. Where (which country and exact location) are the Prokorvhka, Murmansk, Lvov, Batalon (Hungary right?), Kuban, Stalingrad, and I sorta know where Leningrad. Any takers? Are any maps in Poland?

roughly;

Prokhorovka is in middle of Russia, approx SW (ish) of Moscow.

Murmansk is in the north, a bit (east) up the coast from Leningrad.

Stalingrad is towards southern russia, north(ish) of Black Sea.

Kuban is on Northern coast of the Black Sea - find Novorossiysk on yer atlas. Krasnoar is the administrative centre of the Kuban'.

I believe that there is at least one map in Poland, though you'd have to go there to test that definitively.

Here you go. Fair enough Question:

*Net 1 "Northwestern City" - generic map based on typical Soviet landscape items from the larger original IL-2 Sturmovik maps

*Net 2 "Plains" - generic map based on typical Soviet landscape items from the larger original IL-2 Sturmovik maps

*Net I "Clockwork Islands" (Summer/Sea) - generic map with islands for Naval battle.

*Net 3 "Channel" (Summer/Sea) - actually someone found out that this map is somewhere in the (I think) Finish coastline, but I do not recall where.

*Net 4 "Mountains" (Summer) - generic map based on high mountain areas, typical of northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria. There is are easter eggs in that map, for example, the name of the cities are based on people from the IL-2 development team... including luthier... boo hoo... no UberDemonlandia...

*Net 5 "Small Gulf of Finland" (Summer/Sea) - smaller chunk of the Finish gulf for better FPS performance.

*Net 6 "Square Valley Island" (Summer/Sea) - generic island map with mountains - first taste of what some mediterranean landscapes might look like. Contains valleys and multiple runway bases for racing.

*Net 7 "Racing Islands" (Summer/Sea) - Generic map on island setting, with racing bases with multiple runways

*Net 8 "Pacific Islands" (Summer/Sea) - generic pacific map

*Net 8a "Few Trees Pacific Islands" (Summer/Sea) - generic pacific map that goes easy on the palm trees

*Net 9a "Small Arena w/ Objects" - generic tiny/mini flat map for high FPS performance off and online

*Net 9b "Small Arena Plain" - generic tiny/mini flat map for high FPS performance off and online, with absolutely no objects in bases.

*Net 10a "Net2 Bases w/ Objects" - same layout as Net 2, but flat

*Net 10b "Net2 Bases Plain" - same layout as Net 2, but flat, with absolutely no objects in bases.

*Net 11a "Net1 Bases w/ Objects" - same layout as Net 1, but flat

*Net 11b "Net1 Bases Plain" - same layout as Net 1, but flat, with absolutely no objects in bases.

*Africa/Desert/Mediterranean (Summer/Sea) - generic African/Desert/Med map - I think someone actually had suggested an area of Africa and it may be real, but I am not sure - If I had a guess it would be northeastern Marocco, near Saidia and Islas Chafarinas.

*Ardennes - Belgium/Luxembourg, with eastern airfields "supposed to be" from Frankfurt and Bonn in Germany for mission purpose.

*Balaton - Hungary

*Berlin - Germany

*Crimea - Soviet Union, Black Sea

*Gulf of Finland - Finland (South), Soviet Union (St Petersburg/Leningrad), Estonia

*Kuban - Soviet Union, Black Sea, east of Crimea (Western Caucasus)

*Kursk - Soviet Union

*Lvov - Poland, Slovakia, Soviet Union (Ukraine today)

*Moscow - Moscow not included, only area West of Moscow

*Normandy Simple - France

*Normandy w/ Island - France, with fictional/nearby island for across channel scenarios.

*Normandy w/ Small Bases - France

*Prokhorovka - Soviet Union, South of Kursk, southern part of the battle of Kursk

*Smolensk - Soviet Union, central area... a major objective towards Moscow

*Stalingrad - Soviet Union, now the city by the volga is called Zarizyn

Now that I took the time to give you the answer... please try my free software UberQuick Mission Generator(UQMG) for IL-2 FB/AEP at www.uberdemon.com (http://www.uberdemon.com) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you. This should answer your questions.

Before I built my templates for UQMG, I did a bit of research so that things would not be too out of place. So in general each template has a theme. The Kursk and Proshorovka templates are good examples of that; although some things obviuosly are not historically correct, I try to stick to it.

THRUD,

I remember seeing this before... either you or someone in the same thread had posted the actual location of the landscape in the Net 3 map (Channel), do you recall?

It is in southern part of Finland. Between towns of Jyv¤skyl¤ and Lahti. The lake (or channel as you said it) in middle of the map is Lake P¤ij¤nne (partly, top and bottom of the lake is chopped away)
