Apparently, AC III has been in development for 3 years, and I think I read that AC I was 4 years.

How long was II, and Bro and Rev?

ACII was probably something like 2 or 3 years,ACB was likely something like 1.5 or something and ACR was likely 1.5-2 years as well.

Several studios, many people within those studios, II, Brotherhood, Revelations, and III have all been developed at the same time.

Well Patrice said one was 4 years, two was about 2 years, Brotherhood was about a year and a half if you count the fact that they had already started on Rome in ACII but Gaelic simard said Brotherhood only had 10 months development time and Revelations must have been about the same if not less since the AC product for 2011 was supposed to be a giant piece of DLC for Brotherhood but instead they scrapped the Lost Legacy project for DS and made it the main game for the year.

The first AC being in development for 4 years probably isn't very accurate. At least 1 year of that would have been conception, pre-production. Also at E3 the year before the first AC teaser trailer (the CG trailer) the game was showcased by Jade Raymond, and it looked very different. So actual production would only have been 2.5 years max.
AC2 would have started production around January/February 08 (After AC1's fall release the development team would usually have a few months break, and then enter into pre-production). So AC2 would be just under 2 years production.
AC:B would have been straight off the back of AC2, 1 year production. Same with AC:R.
So AC3, seems to have started development the second year into AC2 (January 2009) bringing it to three years February 2012.
Of course, this is all just a (minorly) educated guess.

Yeah, Revelations was probably being worked on during summer or fall of 2010 since Alex Amancio was appointed Creative Director of the series in July 2010.

Development times can be misleading too. AC1 probably took longer than normal anyway because it was a new game and the resources spent on it were probably not as heavy as they are now for the monster series it has become.
