For anyone who doesn't know the latest version of FRAPS is pretty darn cool. not only does it capture video and give fps output. . but it has a benchmark feature built in now too!

I used Fraps 2.2.5 (available below) and configured it for detailed benchmark information that I am able to import into Excel to generate graphs, and also a simple max fps, min fps, avg fps output for a given time interval. I set it up to just use F12 as the benchmark hot key, then at a given time point in the black death track (for me it was 0:12) I press f12, and let it run untill a later time (I used 2:35, but should have done a few seconds earlier as that is a few miliseconds before the track ends!) Here is the simplest format of the information that I have, with the information that I compiled on my various settings.

IL-2:FB Benchmark Results

2x Anti-alaising, 2x Anisotropic Filtering

Now same settings as above but with 4x AA

Frames: 842 - Time: 143149ms - Avg: 5.882 - Min: 1 - Max: 14

Now same settings as above but with 4x AA and 4X AF

Frames: 622 - Time: 143821ms - Avg: 4.325 - Min: 2 - Max: 12

I did this to keep myself busy, the darn FedEx guy came right when I went upstairs to get the phone ( I guess) and when I went back down there was a door tag listing that they attempted to deliver my new video card :-(

Anyway, at least now I can generate some good benchmark info in prep for the new card. . . obviously the above listed fps are really low, I wanted to turn on all the eye candy so that I could give the new card the same exact settings, and then the new CPU when it arrives.

I didnt bother with perfect mode at this res with AA and AF on. . .for obvious reasons.

check the updated page, which includes my new 6800 card, overclocked and default clocks. Then my new CPU. It just goes to show HOW limited my machine was by that GF3 card. . . even though the machine itself isn't a rocket ship by any means the upgrade didn't leave me with any buyers remorse ;-)
