Old post but still looking for more stuff!!!!!

Regarding adding free things to PF, all of the new Pacific content added in post-release patches was produced by me. A few more planes and cockpits have already been completed and will be released in the near future, and the plans don't stop there.

Most of it is centered around new aircraft though. New ships - I seriously doubt you'll see any new Allied ships, because every single one we've looked at is under copyright by big aerospace companies, who ask for an ungodly amounts to license their likeness. Japanese ships - honestly not very likely either, mostly because to me new planes are more important, and if I have to dedicate my very limited resources to something I'd rather build a new cockpit than a new ship. It's a flight sim after all, and I'd much rather bomb an old ship in a new plane, than a new ship in an old plane.

Maps - you will see new ones, and the Philipinnes (Luzon / Bataan) will be the first. Solomons? We have Guadalcanal already. The Solomons are so large we can't possibly fit anything playable on a single map. Even the nearest US and Japanese bases were so far apart that only one side can be represented on a map. If we build Bougainville or, I don't know, Rabaul or what have you, the Allies will be airstarting all their missions. We have so many one-sided airstart missions already, I think the focus should be on the historical areas where both sides had equal presence. I hate to keep shortchanging one side or the other in all the campaigns.

In any case, Pacific is not dead, and neither am I. I've just became extremely allergic to the forums in the pre-release days, and I still haven't gotten over it.

Any more news?
We sure do need these maps.

The Black squares were Japanees strong holds and are greatly needed! Rabaul was basicly thier last stronghold with a forward bases in the Shortland Island area. These foward bases were used to launch striks against Guadalcanal.

Here is a pic of major battles:

We need the whole enchilada. Leave it blank...let us fill in the blanks. Put coral strips for airfields next to the water in thier historic areas wit spawn points. Lets us do the rest!

Great ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Good to know there will be more Pacific aircrafts , i really look forward to it as i thought it was over , good surprise ! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Too bad there is the copyright issues with Grumman a/c http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I'd have loved the F4U-4 , the Avenger flyable (would be REALLY cool and essential to the PTO ) and a few others like the Ki-46 and PBY black cat .

I'd really love the Pacific front to get a few aircrafts like these that are legendary and i think a fair share of the community too , thx a lot Luthier for update and good luck for your work ! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Cheers

luthier's post is ages old ... that was more than 6 months ago. And on SimHQ luthier stated that he has finished working on stuff for the Il-2 engine, now he's full-time on a BoB-engine project, which is rumored to be about Korea.

Geez guys, as csThor said, this post is old, why didn't you put the date in, VFS-214_Hawk? PF is done.

Ohh , damn , that's a pity really , i really believed it was true http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I guess we'll get the PTO with Sow:Bob project though , but how many years will we wait to get it ? i think at least 3-4 years .

Only hope to get a better refined PTO is that Oleg allow other devs to make an add-on for IL-2 1946 although it's quite unlikely http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif .

Yep I have been saying the new stand alone game will take place in Korea for about a year now. Just reading between the lines a bit and the fact that Oleg has recently stated in an interview that he is only interested up to the Korean war and no further.

To me there have been no aircraft so evenly matched as the F-86 and MIG-15 to engage in combat. I really really hope there is a Korean War sim in the future. Only one question...will it use a modified IL-2 engine or the new SoW: BoB engine? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

An artistic likeness doesn't attract copyright infringements.

Luthier said in the last interview that the new "mystery" project (which everyone I think knows is Korea) would be using the new engine.

That's very exciting I think! I hope that they do the theater in detail with US Navy, Royal Navy, RAF/RAAF/Commonwealth, USAF, Korea, and VVS units. That would be a dream. I want to try my luck at shooting down a Mig-15 with a Sea Fury like in real life http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The last generation Prop fighters would be so cool to fly.

Sea Fury and F82 Twin Mustang have been wants of mine for a long time.
