... because I really don't know nothing about the engine management of this plane. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif

Prop pitch, radiator, throttle?

Any help is welcomed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

I'm a very long way from an expert but I have found on the deck with 2x1000lbs bombs at throt' 80 and pp 80 (wep on) rad shut the tempest will seriously shift for just about ever.

Edit: Ooops I meant WEP off.

I usually cruise with the radiator half open, full pitch, no WEP, and so forth. In combat I'll engage WEP, keep the radiator at half unless necessary, and then alternate between 70% and 90% pitch depending on how much power I need.

I do the same - take off with radiators open, fly around at 90% power. But I might not be getting the most out of it this way.

I fly with WEP on, radiator closed, prop pitch at 75%, throttle at 95%. I drop prop pitch to 65% in a dive. Overheating is pretty rare since the last patch and you can cool the engine pretty quickly by opening the radiator and turning WEP off.

For some reason the engine management is key to getting the best performance from the Tempest especially if you use the WEP. I believe Sukbeboy is correct. A little practice in QMB would be advised before you get online.

Im surprised no one has actually tested this? Like what settings give the max "non overheat" speed for the tempest? Something that you would fly around in a combat area with the maximum possible speed without the overheat message poping up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I know the settings make a huge difference, for example the 190 a5, has a 40-50km/h difference between its max non-overheat speeds. I think "FatCat" worked it out first, you could fly around all day at 100% pitch 99% throttle without overheat, or you could fly around at his settings 40km/h faster without overheat(big difference). Does anyone know the settings/numbers for the tempest?
