How to you get into Scapa Flow? The channel Prien used in real life is blocked in SH3.
Thanks

You just sail on in there http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

There is a section of scapa flow that looks like there isn't an entry point, but zoom in enough on the map and you will see a channel.

yeah you cant enter from the east as Prien did, its not modeled, best way in to Scapa is through the west, watch out for the sub net there though, Dont think you will encounter much resistance that way, just a lousy Elco.
Good like finding a capital warship, be sure to post us screen shots + story of your journey http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I came in the south hit a net. Turned west then north and hit another net which wrecked my boat.

The only two channels left were the far westerly one. Or the South then West then North West channels. Dont know if they have nets or not.

You cant sail over the nets on the surface either, there seem to be no gates, and there are no ways through. All in all i dont think its worth it lol. Especially as its very shallow in there and you are unlikely to be able to stay on the surface as prien did unless the weather is poor.

I am in the process of doing it. Sailing in from the west on the 3rd day of the war. Will post pics if I get through. Have already sunk a hunt I in the process. Thanks for the heads up on the nets.

Heh, first time I tried it I just sailed in just under the surface. I didn't encounter any nets. I didn't realize there were any.
The second time through, I went in under the water when all of a sudden I heard this god awful screech and complaints from the crew were taking damage. Checked the outer camera view and to my surprise I see a net!

Hi Guys

I actually made it into scapa flow. I sat on the bottom at entrance to the harbour, had the radio man play rolling stone's painted black and raised the scope. WTF! I couldn't believe my eyes not a single ship at anchor. I called the COB over and she didn't see any too (my girlfriend). Don't believe me here is the pics to prove it.

I surface and took this pic

I tried again from a later save and the same results. Will hunt around a bit in the flow to see what I can find. Will keep you posted.

I only went into scapa flow the other day and found no ships also.

You might be able to work your way in the main way,i marked out my nearest sound contacts so you should be able to figure out where some of the destroyers patrol.

I tried it yesterday when i had started a new career with the 7th flot. So on my maiden voyage http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif i went in. I use the unpatched and unmodded version so no nets or anything.
then all of a sudden several sound contacts ,so i used the free camera to take a look and what did i see a total of 6 destroyers who had stranded their boats on the beach. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif
A little bit of turkey shooting http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
and 2 more destroyers who came to check out what was happening but the got a fish each
. I used 7 impact T1's(one misfire) on the stranded ones
and 2 Magnetic T1's on the other 2 when they came real close.

Ah destroyed destroyers is music to my ears,

You do know that the external camera is a super periscope cheat?

Ohh another hint is that Battleships and Carriers dont anchor in port, they are too big.

They will be anchored somewhere in the bay a bit away from the port so have a look round the whole bay.

When i found a ship anchored there i think it was to the west near the shore. Took about 3 torps to sink and then another 2 to put it beyond salvage http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well I certainly will have a look there tonight. And then I will have to sneak out and head for my patrol area.

Still, scapa flow is a good place to go if you feel like pickings on some destroyers(corvettes).
Theyre dopes, they wont see you coming at all.

Looks like you hit a task force or something.

SPOILER ALERT

Enter Scapa flow between 5th - 10th October 1939 for an Aux cruiser and a Revenge BB

OR between 8th march - 20 april 1940, for an Aux Cruiser and Illustrious fleet carrier.

In the southern enterence the nets only extend 1.5 (exactly, you can be very percise.) km out from shore. The center bit is quite clear.

The last patrolling destroyer (in 1940 anyway) is just inside the enterance. Do this at night at and your set. Once in the very center of Scapa you can surface and refresh your oxygen and charge your batteries. (Be sure to look around first of course.)

If it takes you a while to get in then... It is 17 meters deep there, if you don't have the land proximity time mod, sit on the bottom all day. Otherwise sit at 14 and leave at night again.

Just finished a tour where I raided Scapa Flow in March 1940. I came in from the south entrance and discovered a net. There was a small gap on the far right hand of the entrance that let me slip in. Snuck past a corvette just past the entrance and found two destroyers at anchor sinking one and causing the other to run aground when it tried to evade my torpedo. Took out a corvette with a head on shot and sailed into the port , finding it empty. Further west I found an Illustrious class carrier and took it out with 4 torps and took out 1 of two Armed Merchants also at anchor nearby. The west entrance was pretty much clear and submerged to avoid the coastal battery. If you go to the Creatives forum I've made a movie from part of my attack.
