If this model was done in-house, the tweak should be simple, no? Of course, I can't really say, as I don't know the 3D program... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

But in either case, the correction would not make the patch, but maybe the add-on? Not that its that important, mind ou... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Obviously did not make it into the 1.21 Patch! as it still looks like the gear doors are "high waters"

Bump!

That is freaking ridiculous.

I can't believe you guys want to make an issue out of 2 inches of aluminium sheet on the landing gear..

Who cares?

It goes to show the greatness of this sim when things as petty as this are highlighted.

What next? ... "Oleg i can't find orion in the FB night sky!" - ?

Now, poke my eyeballs out and call me "No Eyeballs Jim", but did you not miss another glaringly obvious issue with the P-51 gear in your picture?

The inner wheel doors are closed in game, and are open in R/L?

This maybe correct..... but maybe its a mistake.

Anyway, its about as important as the explosion warping B-17 fuselages now. Does not really have any bearing on how you play the game.... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Well, this is exactly the way it should be! You see, P-51 had hydraulically operated flaps and wheel doors. As long as the engine is running so is the hydraulic pump, and doors are closed. You turn off the engine, pump stops, pressure drops and the inner doors and flaps drop as well.

Cheers!

Ahh well... why not /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I noticed one thing about the screenie.... the engine is not running.... so I take it the hydraulics are off?

I also tried the P-51 out in FB and this is indeed the case; once the engine is off the doors remain shut.

Well, slam the guy if you must.

I think he is also trying to point out that the top of the gear door is poking up through the wing. The door rides too high for an aircraft sitting on the ground bearing its full weight down. It is still a rather nice model, however.

I think the high quality level of Forgotten Battles tends to bring about seemingly trivial issues. If we were flying some other sim we might be pointing out things such as, "Hey, why does the P47 only show 3 guns in each wing?"

Ok - Make fun, but the point is that this "small" defect was brought to Ubi's attention before release of the patch and they did nothing. Maybe they will fix it later maybe they won't I am sure we will all survive. It is though a bug that is legitimate and thus reported in hopes of making FB the best WWII sim ever and for a long time to come. Why is it every time someone posts a legit problem someone has to be a smart *** about it. That is the whole problem with this forum! gang up on someone for reporting a (Yes Minor Bug) why? just because you didn't discover it?? That is what is stupid! and really needs to stop. The Gear doors protrude thru the top of the wing and are about 12" short at the bottom and it is not correct. Now Ubi is told once again. I think that is good and if I have to bump this every few days I will. I for one love the P51 in this game and am very happy OM has included it for free in this last patch and I appreciate their work. That does not mean we should "Recall the Patch" or argue about how trivial this is. The P51 is my primary plane so yes I would like to see this fixed at some point in the future just as you all would if it were an error on your beloved plane. If my primary plane in this sim was a P47 or ME109 well I guess I would not give a rats *** about this either. There was nothing wrong with posting or bumping this and I applaud the original poster to take the time to post the pictures so there is no question about what we are commenting on.

Man that is absolutely ludicrous! It seems to me that the IL2 community is an extremely picky bunch of assclowns. This is just a guess of course http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Why on Gods green Earth would you complain about the height of that? Oh look Oleg you modeled the pilots nose hair wrong it should curl to the left not the right, oh and the wheels were really inflated with 60psi worth of air, you have it modeled at 55psi.

Come on people! QUIT BEING SO DAMN ANAL!!!!! Just jump in the plane and fly it, enjoy what Oleg has given you, don't critique and wiz (won't let me say what I want to say) and moan about this and that.

I would complain as it is quite obvious that it's wrong! and as far as we all being "assclowns" I suppose that includes you as this is exactly the type of behavior I just mentioned. If you do not agree with a poster fine you have that right but there is no need to make personal attacks and that is what is killing this forum! This was posted in hopes to make FB better if that is possible! If not that's fine too! You don't like it, too bad? You are the one being so "Damn Anal"

Well this sim is advertized as the most accurate prop sim out there. 1C/Maddox Games prides itself with accurately modelling the a/c - external and cockpits.

Hello NegativeGee,

Oleg said something about the main gear doors once before. I think it was something about the compression. That is the reason for the short doors. I think it should be fixed because every other aircrafts gear doors are fine. As for the inner gear doors, they could be down or raised. I've seen many photo's with them down and raised. Even in movies with Mustangs they can be seen down or raised. Also at airshow's they can be seen parked with them down or raised. I guess it was up to the pilot. I personally think they are fine in FB. No need to change it. But the main gear doors should be re-worked. =S=

Iirc, there was a 'lock' that could be used to hold the inner door covers up.

It also took some time for the inner covers to bleed down. They did not automatically flop down when the engine was shut off.
